2020 SCCDGC Veterans Open
Staff
About this tournament
Welcome to the home of the 2020 Saint Charles County Disc Golf Club Veterans Open. We’re very excited to try and build off of the momentum of 2019! I could not believe the overwhelming support we received last year. We raised over $5,000 that was donated to help our homeless Veterans. Things will be pretty similar to 2019 aside from a few changes.
Entry fee is $20 for civilians and $10 for Veterans. Signups can be done here through DGS and day of, but we will be capping this tournament at 95 competitors. It's first come, first serve and I would advise signing up here on DGS! Since this is a benefit tournament, there will be no payouts at the end. All proceeds will be donated to an Organization by the name of “Welcome Home” based in Columbia, Missouri.
There will be a bunch of CTP’s (both civilian and veteran specific) along with every competitor receiving one free ticket towards the massive fundraiser raffle at the end of the tournament. I will be posting pictures of the donations leading up to the event. Keep an eye out for those and make sure to bring some extra cash as this will hopefully be our largest portion of the contribution to be donated! So a little background information about Welcome Home.
Welcome Home is dedicated to serving homeless and transitioning Veterans and their families, as well those at risk of becoming homeless. We value Veteran input and recognize the importance of Veterans assisting Veterans.
Don’t leave our Veterans behind. On the battlefield, this is the code. Unfortunately, some service members have a difficult time transitioning back into civilian life, many carrying scars of combat - some physical, some mental.
Welcome Home is taking action to reduce Veteran homelessness by being more than just a shelter. They provide supportive services, tools and resources to improve overall quality of life of those who served.
Just as there’s a commitment to never leave the wounded on the battlefield, we commit to never leaving our Veterans on the streets. The link to more information on Welcome Home, to include a very inspiring and informational video, is: https://www.welcomeveterans.org/.
We as a club feel very strongly about supporting this cause, and the Veteran community. There is a need to support those who have supported us. Knowingly, or unknowingly. These courageous men and women gave years of service to this great country and do not deserve to be living alone on the streets. The VA reports over 700 homeless veterans living in the state of Missouri.
Both rounds will be played from the red (am) tees. As mentioned before, there will be quite a few CTP’s throughout the course mixed in both rounds. There will also be a 50/50 fundraiser CTP available for a buy in of an additional $4. Half will go to the winner, half will be donated. There will also be two separate Ace Pots.
This first will be $2 and is for SCCDGC members ONLY. This ace pot is cumulative and adds up over SCCDGC tournaments until one is hit. Club memberships are available for purchase in registration and the tag will be good until September of 2021. $20 gets you a membership with a numbered club tag. $25 gets you the numbered tag and a custom stamped Innova disc. If this ace pot is not hit, the money will roll over into the next SCCDGC tournament ace pot.
The second will be the Veterans Open Ace Pot which is available for all who choose to buy in. It will be $5 and listed as an option during registration. If no aces are hit, this money will be added to the donation to Welcome Home as well.
No lunch will be served. We will have a lunch break of one hour after the last card comes in from the first round. The schedule posted is a rough estimate and is subject to change, other than the first tee time. Due to the current pandemic, we ask that you spread out to eat and not all conglomerate under the pavilion.
Lastly, we have tee signs available for $20 per hole. One hole sponsorship purchase will have your business or personal logo on the selected hole for all competitors to see each round. You can select this option during registration, or contact me personally to reserve your tee sign. Obviously first come, first serve. All of the money raised will be added to the donation total.
All tee sign artwork must be submitted to [email redacted] no later than 11/1/2020.
If there are any further questions, please feel free to ask either in the comments or emailing myself directly. My cell number is (636) 312-9395 if you would like to call or text and discuss anything personally.
We are very excited to host this benefit, and we hope to see all of your smiling faces out there to support such a great cause. Bundle up, rock that red, white, and blue, and come join us for the SCCDGC 2020 Veterans Open!
