About this tournament
Congratulations to you all for earning an invite to the 2019 New England Disc Golf Championships. Thank you all for your support of NEFA. This is a PDGA B-Tier event. All PDGA rules will be in effect with the exception of the two meter rule. That means no alcohol or marijuana consumption during the rounds. Please do not partake until lunch or after the second round.
First off, thank you to all the tournament sponsors - Discmania, Nutrishop Fitchburg, Disc Golf 978, New England Disc Golf Productions, Greg Babineau, Zanfel and of course NEFA.
Player check-in will start at 7:30am and player meeting will begin at 8:15am. You’ll be sent almost immediately to your holes with the goal of starting around 8:30am. Amateur player packs consist of a polo, tournament stamped disc and a stock stamped disc. Get there early - there are some real beauties in the disc selection - Discmania really stepped up with the tournament sponsorship! Thank you to them! There will be at least one CTP prize for each division.
There is a VERY limited number of extra shirts available for purchase for $20 or tournament discs for $15. Shirts will be available first thing in the morning. Discs will be available at lunch or after all amateurs have checked in.
There will be a raffle available to win some sweet prizes including a new bag full of discs and schwag and a bunch of other mystery prizes. Tickets can be purchased at checkin or throughout the day from the wonderful folks at Disc Golf 978. Proceeds help cover the costs of the tournament.
Season point series season payouts will be available to pros and ams on Saturday. Pros get cash totaling almost $1,400, while the Am payouts total almost $1,600 in funny money redeemable at Disc Golf 978.
Additionally, there is approximately $900 added cash to the pro purse and $1,000 to be distributed to Ams for funny money payouts for this event. Both season point series and the event funny money payouts will be handled by Disc Golf 978. They have a full store in Fitchburg, MA and do offer shipping, but they will be onsite Saturday with a full selection of discs and other stuff for purchase or redemption of funny money. Both owners will be on site - stop over for free hydration fill ups throughout the day, to browse their discs and nutrition options or just to say hi. Thanks to them for the tournament support!
Lunch will be available to be ordered on Saturday morning catered by the local Big Y deli. There will be sandwich options, including a vegetarian option. Sub, drink, chips and cookie for $10. Or you are welcome to bring your own lunch. The turnaround between rounds will be fast (no more than 30 mins from last card) due to daylight so there won’t be time to run out. Please plan accordingly.
New England Disc Golf Productions will be onsite to provide limited video coverage during round one and to provide full round coverage of the round two MPO lead card. Play well first round MPO’s for your chance to be on film the second round! Thanks to Marc, Sam, Eleanor and Dan and the rest of the team for all you do for New England Disc golf!
Additionally, the media team will include the photography of Greg Babineau. He’ll be wandering through the course taking action shots throughout the day. Thanks for the support Greg!
The New England Disc Golf Center and Drew Gardner have done a ton of work preparing for the event. The course is a challenging but fair par 65 track. There are two layouts. All pros and MA1 will play the long white layout both rounds. MA40 will play the shorter red layout round one and the long white layout round two. All other divisions will play the shorter red layout both rounds. There will be two, perhaps three vacant holes as well as a couple of groups of three among the foursomes. Be aware of the speed of play. The group ahead of you should be in sight on the next hole but you shouldn’t be waiting. Please pace yourselves and be mindful not to cause backups.
Turn your cards in promptly after each round. Be sure to double and triple check your scorecards. I don’t want to have to assess scoring error penalties!
Following the conclusion of round two, all players are invited to the players party onsite. It will be at the property owners house adjacent to the parking area just a short walk away. Food will be served along with a selection of beer and drinks. Awards and raffle winners will take place at the party soon after the last card comes in.
