Starting holes have been posted but CAN change. Please be sure to check at 8:30 after everyone has checked in just in case we need to do some moving around.
Here is the players meeting for those of you that just registered in the last 48hrs. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Text or email is easiest.
2025 Mishawaka Meltdown Players Meeting
My name is Joe Rutkowski and I will be this year’s Mishawaka Meltdown Tournament Director. This
tournament has a rich history with over a decade of memories made. I want to thank Larry Leonardi for
first hosting this event in 2014 later bringing me in as an Assistant TD in 2015. In 2016 I was the TD of
the infamous A Tier that ended with Ricky Wysocki eliminating Tim Barham in a playoff on George
Wilson’s hole 1. We will have all the previous Meltdown Champions listed at tournament central during
check-in. We hope you’ll take a moment to acknowledge and relish in some highlights of Michiana’s
past.
When I began hosting events in Michiana 12 years ago, we were one of two clubs in the area (Frozen
Chosin was the other). In the last 6 years the request for more events is greater than ever. With the
addition of St Joe Valley, Sand Ridge, 574 Chain Gang, Maple City, Bangarangatang, Wesley Skiles, Justin
Peconga, The Day Road crew and countless other groups, disc golf in Michiana has never looked
brighter. Thank you to all the TD’s, club directors, league directors and administrators for all you do to
grow the sport in this corner of Indiana. We greatly appreciate your dedication and commitment.
Thank you to the Mishawaka Parks Department for their help in preparing the course and being so
hospitable to the Meltdown tournament for the last ten years. Thank you Steven, Tim, Niccolas and
every volunteer that helps make George Wilson a travel destination.
Thank you to Great Lakes Disc for sponsoring this event and stepping in to help with player packs as
well as payouts! If you’re up in Grand Rapids, be sure to stop by the shop for a first-class disc golf
shopping experience! Check them out online too at www.greatlakesdisc.com Shea and his team run top
notch events as well. Check out Victory Park Open next weekend in Albion Victory Park Open Presented
by Discraft (MA1, MA3, Pro Masters) (2025, Great Lakes Disc) · Disc Golf Scene
Thank you to the Notre Dame Disc Golf Club for attending the event. They will have some mini’s
available for purchase at tournament central. Please bring cash to help support their club!
My wife, Kelly and I, have put a lot of thought and effort into this year’s event. We wanted to
make sure that, as an amateur competitor, you feel heard and acknowledged. Although we are
supportive of all-inclusive events, it’s easy to feel overlooked in a PRO/AM tournament. Amateur Only
events allow us to cater our intentions and energy into delivering the best player experience possible.
Our pledge to you is to provide the best environment so you can perform at your highest level and
hopefully have the most fun. Additional amenities include bottled water, hot breakfast and lunch served
onsite (donations accepted) fist bumps, smiling faces and words of encouragement.
Your time is extremely important to us. Although we love spending the day with you all, balancing disc
golf and your family time is fundamental. We have made some course changes to assist in getting you
home quicker. Eliminating 1 and 10 are important to help with the flow. In addition, we will be sure to
keep your lunch to an hour and present trophies as quickly as possible following the second round. To
avoid backup’s we recommend teeing off once the group in front of you is out of driving range. You do
not need to wait until they have finished the hole if you’re unable to reach them. Please be considerate
and courteous and always safety first (never throw if you’re unsure if your landing area is clear). Once
you finish hole 13, let the group behind you know. This speeds up the rate of play, FOR EVERYONE.

All Players will be required to keep score per card, per round as per PDGA rules.
Course Notes and OB:
If there is any standing water, it will play as casual. Take relief backwards, in direct line with the
basket, until the player reaches the first lie that is not in standing water.
All OB will receive a 1 stroke penalty and will be played from where the disc was last in bounds.
Players receive a 1 meter semi-circle relief from OB ONLY if the disc actually comes to rest OB.
Players seeking relief from OB whose lie came to rest in bounds will only receive 1 meter
perpendicular from the OB line without a stroke penalty. Holes where OB is defined by the fence
line is defined by the OUTSIDE of the fence line. If part of the disc is directly under the fence,
benefit of the doubt goes to the player — it is in bounds.
Please refer to the PDGA handbook for questions concerning a player’s lie.
PLAYOFFS- If you finish your second round and are tied for FIRST PLACE ONLY. Please come and see me
prior to starting your playoff holes. This is a sudden death playoff format. You will play holes 9, 11, 12

how something should be, play a provisional and bring it to me after the round for the
final decision.

Good Morning and Happy Friday! A couple of updates to the Players Meeting email that went out yesterday. There's a tree down near 17's basket on the back side of the hill near the hut so the basket is being moved to the front right side of the hill. This will make it viewable from the tee box on 16 now. In my opinion this will make it a softer par 4. Also, the FA CTP is on hole 3, not hole 2. That's all for now. I hope everyone is excited for tomorrow as much as we are. If you can make it to the flex today, we'll see you there! Starting holes will be posted tonight, sometime after the close of registration.
