About this tournament
3 rounds of play
Disc Golf Saskatchewan is proud to announce that the 18th Annual Saskatchewan Open Provicial Championships presented by Disc Republic will be held at Saskquatch Alley on the Peepeekisis First Nation. This is a first of its kind event as it is being held on First Nations land. We are making history in Saskatchewan! This will be a B Tier event hosting an 18 basket course with a second 18 basket course being run in Melville to accommodate the most athletes for this event. Tournament central will be located on Peepeekisis First Nation along with most of the event activities.
Peepeekisis is located between Fort Qu'appelle and Melville approximately a 20 to 25 minute drive from either location. Looking for camping or accommodation options? Both communities have many available options including municipal regional and provincial camp grounds. Along with hotel and motels.
Pro payout of a minimum of $750 for this event. The tournament itself will be 3 rounds over 2 days. All athletes will play both courses. Tee times will be set to accommodate the 25 minute drive between courses between the morning and afternoon rounds on Saturday. As well as the closing ceremony to allow all athletes time to attend.
The Frying Dutchman will be on site at Peepeekisis with their food truck both tournament days for purchase.
Bridgecitydiscs.ca will be on site at the Melville course selling plastic to you fine folks for anything you need want or have to replace.
Saskquatch Alley will be a par 62 for the Pro layout. If you dont know Sasquatch Alley is a bush cousre with a mix of open and tunnel shot holes. We will have minimal out of bounds but mandos will be in play for saftey and pace of play.
Melville course will be a par 56. Melville is a park styled course with more OB, a few tunnels and 1 water hole.
Can't wait to experience this historic event together! See you soon!
New additional information.
What to expect?
Sasquatch Alley
Sasquatch Alley is a bush course. This means cut fairways and tight lines, tunnel shots and trees. When off fairway the rough is just that it is rough when you go in the rough and it is highly likely you will, be prepared. Watch your footing, watch for branches at your face and pay attention to your surroundings. This means pants or high socks and good footwear are recommended. It gets hot and humid when in the treed area so hydrate. Wear sunscreen and bug repellent. (repellent stations will be provided) Though we are towards the end of tick season there is still a possibility of them finding you so check yourself before you wreck yourself. For pace of play keep an eye on your shot and others. It is expected that ALL card mates will help look for discs and the 3 minute rule will be in effect. USE A TIMER AND NOTIFY CARD IT IS STARTED After 3 minutes of ALL card mates searching it is declared lost and lost disc rules come into play. Use of spotters on the card is highly encouraged. So if you are throwing at the back of the card we suggest you go ahead and spot for the first few throwers.
This is very very important it is dry this year so fire hazard is a concern. Smoking is at this point not prohibited on the grounds however if you must smoke absolutely DO NOT dispose of your cigarettes on the ground or in the bush. We all know that PDGA sanctioned events do not allow for smoking vaping use or alcohol and marijuana consumption during your round. But we also know that people do it and that is why there are rules, so please be extremely responsible and respectful with any heat sources such as matches sparks or lit smoking products. This will be allowed on property just please not during your sanctioned round.
We will have water available throughout the course but we suggest refillable containers be used so you have plenty of drinking water for your round. Please do not litter. If you pack it in pack it out. We are guests on this property please respect it. We will have garbage receptacles available throughout the course and property.
There will be portable washrooms on site at tournament central and in the course.
We have been informed that unserviced tenting and camping will be available on the Pow Wow grounds if people wish to use it.
There is a fully stocked Gas station around the corner from the course that has most anything a 711 will, including hot food, cold drinks, fuel etc
Melville
Melville is a well-established park course shared between the city of Melville and the regional park. You have paid for your park pass with your registration. There is serviced campsite in this regional park. camping is additional.
Water will be available at hole 1 and 10. Please park in the lot near hole 1.
I will repeat we are guests so please don’t litter please leave this park better than we found it.
Tee times will be on PDGA before your round
