Week 1 of Tuesday Twos was a HUGE success! Thank you to all that came out, as we SOLD OUT all 54 spots by 5:36pm. My sincerest apologies to the players that we had to turn away. It's been many years since we sold out like that, but it's very exciting to see this much enthusiasm for disc golf!
We played a basic layout with normal OBs and the OB island on Hole 9. Calm conditions and a gorgeous April evening lead to some tight competition at the top of the leaderboard. Coming away with the outright victory was the team of Zach Todd and Jourdyn McIntyre, who came in with only one blemish on the scorecard, and the hot round of -17. Their victory secured them $66 and a full 27 points in the standings!
Close behind was a three-way tie at -16. Winning the throw-off and securing second place and $40 was Brody Cannon and Francis Adzima. Abner Glas and league newcomer Joe Pinkston secured the next spot and $28. Rounding out the tiebreaker and finishing in 4th place with $20 was Hunter Gates and another newcomer, Derek Ogletree.
In outright 5th place was the team of Calvin Brewer and Daniel Kackmarek, shooting -15 for $16.
In another three-way tie were the teams of Matt Franke and Jason Han (6th place - $14), Mike Estes and Noah McDaniel (7th place - $12), and Skyler Park and Jarel Cruz (8th place - $10).
Six teams tied for last cash, but ultimately it was Jim Morris that won the throw-off to secure him and his partner David Parker the final $10.
The excitement didn't end there though, as we recorded our first TWO aces of the season! Splitting the ace pot of $54 was Sean Martin (Hole 1) and Isaac Hotchkiss (Hole 4). The best part? They were on the same card, and just a few holes away from each other! Great shots, guys! Enjoy those bonus 5 points in the standings!
Last but not least, we had a couple prizes up for grabs. Hole 2 featured a Longest Putt competition for a DGA Aftershock (donated by Mike Purdy), which Sean Martin won with a putt from about 45 feet. Hole 8 featured a Closest to Pin competition for a Legacy Outlaw (donated by Pound Disc Golf), which was won by Jourdyn McIntyre as he put his drive under the basket.
Notes for next week: If it's looking like we're going to get good weather and potentially sell out again, we will open up sign-ups at 5:15pm. Unfortunately, we have to cap out at 54 players, so sign-ups will be first come first serve. Also, remember that your TOP 10 WEEKS count towards the finals. Top 10% of the players in the standings will compete in the finals for added cash and prizes (upwards of $900+).
