Helloooo!!
Baskets are up, OB lines are marked, nearly half the field has already checked in and practiced the course.
Hole assignments for the 1st round are posted online, there is a small chance this may change so please double check before heading to your hole in the morning.
The 'ghost card' of FPO players will start on hole 13 after the 1st group is clear. The par 4 12th and 14th should help space things out and keep everyone flowing as much as possible for the rest of the round.
Warning: Some of the OB is sneaky close to the baskets, making even the shorter holes potentially troublesome ;)
There are flags and painted lines around the most likely OB areas, feel free to go check them out (quickly) before throwing if you have any doubt.
Reminder - All golf greens are OB, all sand traps are OB, the border fence is OB, and all ponds of water are OB. Cart paths are NOT OB.
I will have bottles of water at 2 or 3 tees for players to grab and drink as needed.
There are no/few trash bins available out on the course, please do not leave your trash on the ground. (Main trash bin and recycling is by the clubhouse door.)
I will be on site (hopefully) by 730am for people who still need to check-in. The course is open for last minute practice as early as you'd like.
1st round starts at 930am sharp. I will honk my car horn twice at 928am for your 2 minute warning, followed by a long blast of my car horn at 930am for the 'shotgun' start. However my car is a hybrid with 400k miles, so the horn may or may not be loud enough to carry the entire course length ;) spread the message if you hear it and keep a spare eye on your phones time. If it says 931am but you haven't heard any horns go ahead and start anyways, unless you are the ghost card :)
This long twisting email will serve as your players meeting.
Make sure you give yourself time to get out to your respective hole for the 930am start
Whoever is the scorekeeper will enter their name or pdga# then it should automatically bring up you and the other people on your card along with the correct starting hole, verify and continue. Once a round is complete the online scores must be 'confirmed' by each player by entering a last name or pdga# to signify you agree that is the correct score. Do not confirm if you have thrown provisionals or need a rules clarification until you have received the final decision.
Paper scorecards will also be available if needed, either as a backup scorecard or primary if noone in a group has a capable phone. A backup scorecard is not required, but is highly recommended, either paper, udisc, or some way to clarify scores if a discrepancy does exist.
Closest to the Pins (CTP's) will be on hole 16 and 17, a winner each round from each hole. One of them is liquor related so you must be 21+ to win that prize. A minor or anyone else can write someone else's name down if they would like to designate their good throw's rewards to someone else, and make a new friend ;)
OB's reminders for each hole are listed in the live scoring app.
Course map is also on Udisc, it does have pars on 2 holes switched around but either way we play it as a Par 60. Distances on tee signs and/or Udisc are not perfect. Use them as estimates at best.
Please be aware of where you are standing while waiting to tee off, some holes you may be in a different holes possible errant landing zones if you are all grouped on the left side of the tee vs right side or vice versa. Keep pace of play going by not making other holes unnecessarily wait to throw just because you are standing 10-20 feet in the wrong direction ;)
We will redo the groups during lunch break, sorted by score and division, check the pdga event page (or leaderboard at HQ) between 1pm and 130pm to find your starting hole for the 2nd round which will start at 200pm or as otherwise noted on the website.
Awards and payouts will occur as soon as possible after the 2nd round.
Ben Askren v Jake Paul PPV fight will hopefully be viewable in the bar starting at 8pm for anyone wishing to stay.
FYI: The course is officially only closed to ball golfers until 4pm, some/most/all groups will likely still be playing at that time and may encounter ball golfers on disc golf holes 1-3+ The course was designed for both sports to be played at the same time so it shouldn't be a big safety concern, yet be aware if it happens and please give mutual respect.
That's all I got for now. It's going to be a great day of disc golf!
