Welcome to the 2020 edition of the Crestview Cup, this year presented by GRIP Equipment. I want to thank Grip Equipment for their title sponsorship for this event. I personally carry a Grip bag and think you should too. Having handled many bags in our sport, I truly believe they are the best made bags out there.
There will not be a players meeting. This email should hopefully contain all the information you need. If you have a question, please ask.
TEE TIMES have been posted to the PDGA event page.
You must check at at Tournament Central which will be in the 4901 Shunga Drive Building (Shelter House) which is next to Tee 1 at least 20 minutes before your tee time, but sooner is fine.
CHECK IN
Please check in 20-30 minutes before your tee time. If you are late, or cannot make it, please text me at 785-(see your email) with your name and tee time. If you are running late, per PDGA rules you will get Par + 4 as a score for each hole you miss including any hole the card started but had not completed yet. If you can't make it, please let me know and you'll still get your player pack. No call and no show forfeits your entry and your player pack.
RAIN OR SHINE
We play, rain or shine. If there is lightning in close proximity I will use an air horn or car horn for 3 short blasts. Mark your lie where it is at and proceed to shelter. Play will then resume 30 minutes after the last lightning strike. It is quite possible that I may not hear lightning if I'm busy or in the shelter. If there is lightning while you are playing and are wondering if it is close, you can call me at 785-(see your email).
PLAYER PACKS
All players, Pro and Am, will receive a Grip Equipment tri-fold golf towel. All amateurs will also receive a $15 voucher that needs to be used on Saturday, June 20th from the inventory that is available at tournament central. It will not carry over to future events.
VENDING
Please use hand sanitizer before handling any of the vending items. Thank you. If you have previous credit with Maverick DG from past events or refunds, I would suggest you use them up on Saturday. Future tournaments are not guaranteed.
SOCIAL DISTANCING
Please be respectful of others in regards to six feet rule, not touching competitors discs, bags, carts, etc.
WATER AND RESTROOMS
There will not be drinking water on the course. I'm expecting the rounds to be 5 - 5.5 hours long. Bring plenty of water with you. There are restrooms (and water) available at Tournament Central and also the Crestview Community Shelter on the East course. The East Community Shelter closes at 12 noon.
COURSE OBS, LAYOUT, MAPS, PARS, DISTANCES
Attached is the 2020 Course maps and OB sheet. It is also in uDisc under Crestview West as 2020 Crestview Cup. There will be a copy at Tournament Central for you to take a picture of; there will not be copies for you to take with you. If you want a hard copy please print it.
PDGA RULES APPLY
This is a PDGA sanctioned C-Tier. All PDGA rules apply. By registering in the tournament you are confirming you will abide by those rules. No drugs or alcohol will be allowed from the time you tee off until your score card is officially turned in.
SCORING
We are using PDGA.COM/score as the official scoring keeping. Please use the digital scoring. If you don't know how to use it, check in a little earlier and I will walk you through it. The access code is GRIPeq in that format with GRIP in capitals, eq lower case, no spaces. I will have paper (not cardstock) score cards just in case. I really want you to use the digital scoring system. It saves you from scoring penalties due to math errors, and it saves me time.
With digital scoring, at the end of the round each player must 'CONFIRM' their score. When you do so, the RED X will turn to a GREEN CHECK MARK. Please check back in at tournament central to confirm your scores went through. It would be a real bummer if they don't and the scores are lost.
ACE FUND
The Ace Fund pays out as Grip Equipment bags. We'll have these three available: Coal BX2, Sand CS2, and Grass G-Series.
Normally after the tournament we would have a CTP contest to award any Ace Fund prizes that were not earned by an Ace during the tournament. As we are on tee times, that won't be possible.
The three Ace Fund bags will be awarded in this manner:
If no aces are hit, I'll do a random drawing of 3 names that paid into the ace fund. First name gets the BX2, second gets the CS2, third gets the G-Series.
If one ace is hit, that person gets their choice of the three bags, then I'll do a random drawing for the remaining two.
If two aces are hit, I'll do a random drawing of just those two names for the first and second choice. I'll then do a second drawing from all the rest that have paid in for the third bag.
If three aces are hit, I'll do a random drawing of just those three names for their choice.
If four or more aces are hit, I'll do a random drawing of just those names that had an ace, the first three will get a bag. If there is more than 3, I'll do some sort of consolation prize for the remaining like merchandise voucher or something.
If you win a bag, you will need to pick it up in Lawrence, or meet me somewhere that is convenient, or pay to have it shipped to you.
AWARDS
There will be awards, just not available at the tournament. I am having Jeff Gradinger with dgNOMAD make custom wood minis with the tournament name, division, and winner's name and PDGA number on them. I will arrange getting them to you at a later time.
CONTACT THE TD
My number is 785-(see your email). If it's not an emergency, please text, don't call. Running late is not an emergency. Rule questions are not an emergency. If it is an emergency, but not quite 911 level emergency, please do call me. If it is a 911 emergency, call 911 first, then call me.
