To echo and expand on what Scott said, we are facing uncertainty about whether we will be allowed to hold this event. Before holding an event like this at an Ohio state park, we need to apply for and be granted a Special Activity Permit from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). The problem is that since the Covid-19 shutdown the ODNR has not been granting any Special Activity Permits to anyone.
We decided to go ahead with planning this tournament with the understanding that at some point the ODNR is going to resume granting permits. We recently got approval through the Director of the Geauga County Department of Health for this specific tournament. Our local park manager is on board. And the State of Ohio announced there will be additional openings on June 10th including indoor sporting events and outdoor playgrounds. In view of these circumstances, there is reason to hope the ODNR will yield and grant our permit in time. But we just do not know.
We would certainly understand anyone who doesn't want to be left hanging and decides to withdraw. But at the same time, we know a lot of you would love to get out and play this tournament if we can make it happen. Scott and I will keep our fingers crossed and share information as soon as it becomes available.
Thank you for the update. Glad I'm not the one dealing with the ODNR.
