As most of you know, a glitch in the registration with Disc Golf Scene prevented some teams from registering---teams with Pros rated over 970. Some of those teams figured out how to bluff through with an incorrect or missing PDGA number; others didn’t make the field. In all likelihood, some teams that made it in, would have missed out as these teams got in ahead of them.
In the planning stages we had decided to not make any changes to get more players in, and just live with the registration results. However, with the glitch, this strikes us as grossly unfair. None of the solutions are particularly good, particularly not leaving things as they stand. So we’re modifying the plans slightly, to incorporate these teams with pros who were bumped, as the best option we can think of. The other teams on the waitlist will move up it.
Our plans are not finalized, but they may involve adding additional holes, ghost cards, or possibly sixsomes at times. The changes look something like this (SUBJECT TO CHANGE):
Round 1 – Best Score Doubles
Planned: 20 holes, Garnet plus amended version of D2 & D3
Revised: 23 or 24 holes, adding D6 (possibly split), D7, & D8, with a bit of a transition walk from G7 to D6. Plus 2 ghost cards.
This will be a bit of a long round.
Lunch Saturday – may not be able to produce scores & standings before round 2; they may be delayed until evening. Note that this does not affect round 2, which is set by player ratings, not scores.
Round 2 – Match Play Singles
Planned: 20 holes, Garnet plus amended version of D2 & D3
Revised: Same 23 or 24 holes, but each match will only play 18 holes. So wherever you start, you’ll play the next 18.
Match play is quick, and this should be a shorter round than originally planned.
Round 3 – Match Play Doubles
Planned: 20 holes, Diamond plus G1 & extended version of G2.
Revised: Probably 22 holes, adding G13 and one or more temp holes. Some ghost cards.
Match play doubles goes very fast, so we don’t think there’ll be much of an issue.
Lunch Sunday – make take a little more than an hour, to accommodate scoring.
Round 4 – 4-man team alt shot
Planned: 20 holes, Diamond plus G1 & extended version of G2.
Revised: Unchanged. There are plenty of open spaces in this format.
We think everyone will enjoy this, with more teams, more holes, more Stoney Hill.
Plus, it should raise over $2,000 for The Children’s Heart Foundation.
It will also bump the rest of the waitlist up.
Just please be patient with us as we work through it. And if any teams find the changes unpalatable and wish to withdraw, let us know and we’ll refund your entries.
Here’s the Battle Plan. At least, tentatively.
