Welcome to tournament week! Thank you for your support of the Lost Plantation Charity Open and CURE Childhood Cancer! We have an exciting event planned! Please read this email entirely to make sure you are fully prepared!
THE REASON WE’RE HERE
This event was created for two main reasons:
First, we’re benefiting a fantastic charity in CURE Childhood Cancer. CURE is focused on improving the care, quality of life, and survival rate of children with cancer. They have raised millions of dollars to fund cutting edge cancer research, focusing on projects which are likely to have a clinical or therapeutic impact within five years. Through innovative programming, CURE also provides support for patients and their families. This weekend, we have received permission from families to introduce you to 18 children impacted by cancer and CURE. Each hole of the course is named after a child. You will be able to see their faces and read their stories as you play. Please take a moment to learn about each one of these amazing kids and their families and remember that CURE has helped support each one of them. You can read more about CURE and their efforts at https://curechildhoodcancer.org/.
Second, we’re trying to grow disc golf in southeast Georgia! Our event is going to introduce disc golf to Rincon in a pretty spectacular way. We’ve received great support from Rincon city council and the Lost Plantation Golf Club, so let’s show them that a permanent disc golf course is definitely worth investing in. Please thank the staff at Lost Plantation Golf Club, be considerate to the neighbors of Lost Plantation, and patronize our sponsors. Let’s show this community that disc golf is exciting and disc golfers are fun and courteous!
FRIDAY
The course will be open for practice rounds tentatively at 1:00pm on Friday. You’re welcome to walk the course for free, but I’d highly recommend renting a cart from the clubhouse for $10. The course is lengthy, and there are a few places where the gap between holes is relatively long. Check-in for the tournament will also be open behind the clubhouse near the tee area for ball golf hole number 10. It should be pretty easy to find once you arrive.
There is water on the course in a few locations, but the course beverage cart should be running continuously as well. Be sure to show some love to the course by getting a drink or two off the cart. CASH ONLY! Also, be sure to dispose of trash in bins along the way!
SATURDAY
Our Saturday schedule has been modified. Player’s meeting is now at 7:30 am with the hopes of starting round one at 8:00 am. I moved this up because of the threat of afternoon thunderstorms and south Georgia heat in general. Our forecast looks favorable, but there is always a chance of afternoon storms so we’d like to get ahead of the threat if we can. IT WILL BE HOT! Bring sunscreen, towels for sweat, bug spray, and plenty of water! We will have water stations on the course, and the course will be running their beverage cart full time during the event, but please take responsibility for keeping yourself hydrated. Remember, this is a sanctioned event, so players may not consume alcohol during the rounds. The beverage cart is CASH ONLY!!
Players starting on holes 1-4 and 14-18 will be required to walk to their starting holes. Players starting on holes 5-13 will be given carts to get to their starting holes. Designated cart parking areas will be provided on the course and on the map. Carts will be assigned by hole. Players finishing on these holes may bring the carts back to the clubhouse after the round.
COURSE MAP
Thank you to Timothy Barr from Premier Design Disc Golf for this awesome course design! A custom Google Map has been created illustrating the course layout and relevant points of interest. It can be accessed here:

Pros will be playing for a cash payout.

There is a parking lot near the clubhouse that will be our central parking zone. If this becomes full, players may park in one of two overflow areas. Both of these areas are marked on the course map.
DRESS CODE
We want to maintain a great image for disc golf this weekend. Player’s may NOT wear jeans for this event. Collared shirts are not required but highly recommended. Athletic wear is OK as well. Let’s look good out there.
LUNCH
If you pre-purchased lunch, a meal ticket will be given to you at check-in that may be redeemed with our lunch vendor. Additional lunches, drinks, and cookies will be available for purchase the day of the event. South Fork Provisions has really stepped up to give us some great food so please show your thanks during the event. They will accept credit cards or cash.

Our Ace Challenge will be held only in ROUND TWO of the event! Again, only aces hit during ROUND TWO will count towards the promotion. All shots will be filmed from the tee pad, and players will need to state their name and disc to the camera before throwing their shot. In the case of multiple aces, the award will be split between the players. Full rules will be placed in the player’s guide at check-in.
ACE POOL
All aces hit during the event (except for hole 17 on round two) will be eligible for Ace Pool winnings. To win, players must buy-in to the Ace Pool at registration or at check-in. Winnings will be split between all players who hit an ace. If no ace is hit, this pool money will be donated to CURE.

An optional Charity CTP is available to all player’s at registration or check-in. The winner will receive a $100 gift card for the Specialty Sports tent at the event. You must buy-in to be eligible to win this prize. All Charity CTP money will be donated to CURE.
GOLF CLUB DISCOUNTS
