I have noticed that not everyone gets the emails, so here's what was just sent to all the registered players, people on the waitlist, and copied to Sun King and Innova:
Dear, Competitor:
As we approach the 18th Annual Southwest Florida Open presented by Sun King, I wanted to thank you again on behalf of the Southwest Florida Disc Golf Organization, Inc. for choosing to play in our cornerstone event. Attached is a PDF of this year's Caddy Book. A printed copy will be available at Tournament Central.
Tournament Central
We will begin early check-in on Friday, January 25 at 3 p.m. inside the North Fort Myers Recreation Center. Tournament Central will utilize the covered pavilion area facing the lake along with the room located directly off the pavilion. (For those who played last year, this is the same space with the addition of the room.)
Odds and Ends
RANDOM DRAW DOUBLES - Friday afternoon, open to all, $10 per person, 100% payout, tee off at approximately 3:30 pm. You do NOT have to be registered in the tournament to compete in the doubles round.
WATER - We will have three water stations for refilling, so please consider bringing a refillable bottle. We will also have additional refreshments at Tournament Central.
LUNCH DISCOUNT - All participants (competitors and volunteers) can take advantage of a 10% discount for lunch at Weaver's Deli, located less than a quarter of a mile away from the park. We encourage you to call ahead. We will have menus at tournament central and you can click on their website above to see their menu.
CHECKING IN - Check-in on Saturday morning is from 7:30 am until 8:30 am. Anyone not checked in prior to 8:30 am will forfeit their place in the tournament and it will be given to a member of the waitlist, if present.
Added cash and "True Amateur" event
As more sanctioned events are thrown in the State of Florida each year, we understand that tournaments need to provide a better value than ever before. This year, with the help of our sponsors, we have added $2,000 cash, significantly exceeding the minimum added cash requirement of $750 (Pro) for a B-Tier.
For amateur divisions, we have crushed both the $10 required minimum player pack value and the 100% of registration fee value required for running the event as a "True Amateur" tournament. In addition to a player pack valued at 200% the registration fee, there will be CTPs plus side games and prizes brought to you by Innova. For more on a True AM event, please see the PDGA guidelines: https://www.pdga.com/files/pdga_true_amateur_event_guidelines.pdf
Our goal is to bring you a disc golf experience that is enjoyable for all skill levels. If our efforts to Grow the Sport, are not meeting your expectations and there is something we can do better, either now or in the future, please let us know and if it's within our power to fix, we will.
