Moving the AKDGC date to the weekend after King of the Hill was discussed in our March meeting per member suggestion. It is a good idea to help draw lower 48 players to KOTH and States, however there are a lot of variables involved. Rally in the Valley would have to be pushed back a week, as well as moving Jailhouse back a few weeks in to August. Andrew DiRoma talked with Will Schusterick about a confirmation of he and possibly Team Prodigy attending both weekends. But they could not commit since Will is attempting to get to Scandi Open.
Tre and I did collaborate on a potential two weekend co-tourney that would be be like a greater Anchorage area tourney, with one weekend in Anchorage and one weekend in the valley. I think this is a great potential to look at for next year. It would lead well in to a championship point series, especially with the creation of the Homer DG Championships. Having three to four designated point series tourneys in different regions of the state that lead up to States.
Moving States to said weekend, there would be 3 tourneys in the greater Anchorage area in consecutive weekends. This would make it difficult for players outside of our area.
So as you can see, there are a lot of variables. At this time, I recommend we stick to what is set now, keep it simple. We can think tank together for next year's season to further support Hilltop's A-Tier event. We also have a lot of course work to do this summer. Peters Creek MUST get finished. And Kincaid is in desperate need of maintenance. There are potentially two new courses being installed next summer, so this year is the year to get caught up.
