Official minutes from the December 2014 DFOK Meeting

Agenda: *** No agenda items submitted prior to meeting ***
(Item 1) Warner Park Project:
Announcement:
Parks and Recreation Strategic Facility Improvement Plan will present and discuss questions included in
surveys to be sent to Manhattan residents in a joint City Commission / Parks and Rec Advisory Board
Meeting. Disc golf should be present in the survey, so DFOK should be present to ensure proper phrasing
and representation of the sport.
Joint City Commission / PRAB Work Session:
December 9 (Tuesday) 5 pm. 1101 Poyntz Ave. Commission Room.
Points of Discussion:
• Warner Project co-chairs (Mitch Brenn, Jeremy LeCrone) to contact Wyatt Thompson (City Park
Planner) to invite him to walk Warner course and discuss areas and ideas for completion project.
. Motion to make official DFOK contact with Wyatt. Confirmed (6 yes, 0 no, 0 abstain)
• Also discuss possibilities and future of Lee Miller Park area with Wyatt Thompson in this process.
• Consider small, informal “scouting party” to explore portions of trees on East side of ravine to gen-
erate relative idea of quantity and quality of potential fairways. (Project chairs to work out details,
make contact, and inform group of further developments)
• DFOK will not make any plans to initiate involvement in Parks and Rec youth programs / leagues.
Perhaps, if demand from community becomes apparent, we can discuss getting paid for services as
instructors / coaches / officials. In the meantime, other projects are more pressing.
• There is a strong desire to engage neighbors of Warner Park, and promote interest in completing
course from a local perspective. No specifics decided. Need to generate ideas and make a plan that
can be implemented in warmer months to get neighbors out to play.

(Item 2) Tuttle Creek Sponsorship:
Points of Discussion:
• Daisuke contacted regarding available fairways for sponsorship.
Taken: 1, 7, 11, 14, 17, 13 (half), 16 (half), 18 (half).
. Motion to officially sponsor half fairways on 2 and 13. Confirmed (5 yes, 0 no, 1 abstain)
• Contacted Daisuke with decision and heard confirmation back.
Announcement: DFOK will sponsor half of fairway 2 and half of fairway 13 at Tuttle Creek State Park.

(Item 3) 2014–2015 Winter Virtual Bag Tag League
Points of Discussion:
• Shad Schafer suggests running a bag tag league for winter 2014-2015. Presents potential format and
detailed rules. Group discussed details of league format, rules, format, and cost. Below are highlights
of decisions.• League will be FREE to play.
• Virtual bag tags only (will not create physical tags with club money at any time).
• Weekly regular events to be held on Sunday afternoons. League members must attend at least one
weekly event per calendar month to remain “current”. At beginning of month, non–current players
lose previous bag tag and are pushed to “bottom” of rankings. Current players move up in rankings
accordingly.
• Weekly events will rotate between Fairmont, Warner, and Tuttle. Calendar to be created and available
online to avoid confusion.
• Friendly tag challenges are encouraged between league members, but not required.
• League administrators will be Shad Schafer and Jeremy LeCrone.
. Motion to officially endorse 2014–2015 Winter Virtual Bag Tag League. Confirmed (4 yes, 0 no, 0
abstain)
Announcement: First Virtual Bag Tag League Event is THIS SUNDAY (December 7) at Fairmont Park.
Check–in time: 1:15pm, Tee off: 1:30 pm. Sign-up sheets will be available at the event. FREE League, no
fee to sign–up for league or to play in league events.

(Item 3.1) DFOK as a not–for–profit
Points of Discussion:
• Without official status as a not–for–profit organization, DFOK is liable to money taken in for events,
leagues, pools, park improvements.
• Without precise knowledge of the laws, and official compliance, DFOK should abstain from endorsing
leagues / events where money changes hands.
• These winter months would be a good time to hammer out details of transitioning club to official
organization. No one assigned to “take on” this project, though members agree and plan to research
the process and what should be done.
• Big Point: If DFOK takes in money for leagues, events, etc. some portion of these monies should be
dedicated to course improvement / maintenance.
• Big Point 2: With the amount of effort, energy, and dedication DFOK puts into sponsoring tourna-
ments, making course improvements, etc. the club (and local courses) should be benefiting from these
activities.
. No motion was proposed for this issue.

Clarification on "(Item 2) Tuttle Creek Sponsorship" : Those were the fairways available for sponsorship on the date of the DFOK Donation to the Tuttle project, NOT on the date of the December 4th DFOK Meeting.
