QA 20: Mandatory Has No Drop Zone
Q:I missed the mandatory, and no Drop Zone has been marked. Where is my lie?
A:You go back to your previous lie. Applicable Rules: 804.02 Mandatories.
QA 21: Obstacle to Stance and Flight Path
Q:My disc came to rest under a large fallen tree branch. The branch is clearly dead and unattached from the tree, and extends from behind my disc to in front of it. Can I move the branch?
A:Yes. If part of the branch is in your stance or run-up, you're allowed to move it, even if another part is between your lie and the hole. Applicable Rules: 803.01 Obstacles and Relief.

Yeah I always played it from the left of the mando sign which is the way I interpreted the rules from before. I believe you always had the option of re-teeing but the drop zone was always to the left of the mando.

John, I believe with this rule change, whoever is in charge of course design may want to rethink the location of those mandos. If the reasoning for having them was to keep people from throwing over the field it is actually creating a situation where people may end up throwing over the field more often because they must continue to throw till they make it from the teepad which could result in multiple throws over the flyzone they want to keep clear.

If I had a vote in it I would say completely remove the mando on 10 all together. If the parks issue with it was that they didn't want discs flying over the field due to somebody getting hit in the head with a disc, then why didn't they think about a disc golf player getting hit in the head by a home run right in the fairway?

Mandos serve two purposes though. Restrict where disc fly for safety reasons and restrict flights paths to add challenge to the hole. If you remove the mando on 10, you not only will have people throwing over the ball field, but that will take away any challenge of that hole. It will just be a gentle hyzer over the ball field to the basket.

your right Brian T it would ruin that hole and the mando was required from the park board Brian as 4, on 4 before the mando people threw into the field rudely even when big games were going on easy solution write drop zone on the post or make it a point to tell everyone before play starts where the drop zone is problem solved

I don't care to make the hole easier as I think the teepad is so wide that the shot is pretty much a gentle hyzer if you change your run up anyways. What my issue was was that if you missed the mando because you accidentally threw over the field that if we play it from your last lie which is the teepad we actually are putting people in risk of doing it a second time.

I'm not the only one that thinks mandos are stupid. You can't see the hole form the teepad as it is. I just feel that if the park is going to take a stance of safety being the issue on why that mando is necessary lets take all sports into account and adddress the issue of the fairway for 10 being in direct line of taking a ball to the head as well.

or address the fact that the tee signs are jacked. ...or that we were told certain soccer fields would be disappearing and have in fact doubled the amount of soccer fields out there since we've been told they would be moving them. ...or that the practice basket still isn't up... or that continuously we're dealing with flag football when we were told the field would be moved to another loaction. There's plenty of battles to be fought out there I don't think the park should be so picky about a disc flying over there baseball field. I also have to disagree. I've never seen anyone throw a disc in the field just to be rude. Let's not make stuff up.

brian on the old hole 4 which is the same as it is now but shorter people would throw into the field like i said mind you normal disc golfer would not do that but people (one disc players ) and people starting out would and we had to take into account what has happened and what could happen so ben said we need one there so that gap could not be thrown though and 10 is fine if you throw from the post which could be the drop shot or we can mark it as brian t is working on ,from there the is no chance a disc could re-enter from there i agree theres stuff that should be done but the main focus is safety yeah we could enter the fence with a bad drive but that's better then people constantly throwing hyzers over a kids head with how it is now your forced to throw a line thats away from the fence.
