I just moved into the area and I'm surprised at the lack of DG etiquette at Brys, from what looks like league players. Maybe I'm wrong. I fly solo quite a bit and groups of 2, 3, 4 don't even think about letting me pass them, when I'm visibly waiting behind them. Got caught behind a couple douchers today throwing 2 discs each! And still they didn't have the courtesy to let be play through. Sorry. Just needed to vent. I'm sure many feel the same way. Just tired of skipping ahead.
Welcome to the area. What makes you think they are league players? If you play out there on Tuesdays don't expect to play through every group, the course gets packed. Even when I'm playing solo I don't expect to play through a group of two just because I'm one less. If you aren ... more
Welcome to the area. What makes you think they are league players? If you play out there on Tuesdays don't expect to play through every group, the course gets packed. Even when I'm playing solo I don't expect to play through a group of two just because I'm one less. If you aren't holding anybody up behind you, take an extra shot or two. It's that time of year where every casual and his brother comes out of hibernation, so don't be surprised when you're held up behind a group of 8 with 3 girlfriends and 2 baby carriages in tow. Idiots abound on our courses, but there are also lots of quality people that respect the course and fellow players.
Bullet Bill, I think I know who you are talking about out on the course today. I was there myself today at Brys with my buddy and we didn't get held up by anyone and those guys were not league players who you are talking about. If you come out on Tues nights for leagues that's when we ha ... more
Bullet Bill, I think I know who you are talking about out on the course today. I was there myself today at Brys with my buddy and we didn't get held up by anyone and those guys were not league players who you are talking about. If you come out on Tues nights for leagues that's when we have, be there by 5:30-6 tee off by 6:30. The league is on the scene and its on Brys Park's page, check it out. Most players will let you pass if its just you, but like doug said "its that time of year where every casual and his brother comes out of hibernation". Its true, and for some reason Brys is now starting to become the new Cass Benton. I don't know if anyone else agrees with me, but when discs disappear for no reason and has ink with name/number on the bottom and no call, or a grab and swipe which happened recently to my buddy (signs on some of the tees) if you didn't see them out there. And it doesn't help that the walkers there don't know which way to walk on the path causing long waiting periods on some holes. Some will stop and wait, but most will walk right by you even when your in motion to start your drive. So with all that said, Welcome to Brys and hope to see you out there sometime.
thanks for the comments. I'll try to meet up on a league night soon.
welcome to brys man, you honestly need to tell them that you want to play through. Everyone goes through that there.
the issue comes down to the fact that 2 pads play to 1 basket. you might be playing through a slower ground a hoke ahead of you but then again you might be skirting a higher hole on the back or front opposite you. add in the walkers and it gets hard to play through. best bet is make it known politely that you'd like to play through if you could and take it from there
ya it comes down to just being polite and the walkers are usually pretty good about the whole thing.
