Is anyone else ready to start throwing regularly again? How about we start talking about things we'd like to do as a club this year? It would be cool to do a tournament of some sort. Maybe a few rounds where we bring a newbie to introduce some new people to the game. How about an Ace Race, Birdie Bash, or Trilogy Challenge? Anyone else have an idea or two? Let's get something cooking.
I agree, we need to build a disc golf presence here in Bryan, similar to what I see Fort Wayne.

Yeah I think we have a presence here but it's gonna take a long time to get to Fort Wayne level. You gotta remember, Bryan isn't Fort Wayne and we are kind of out of the way so we have to make good events. Good events take money. Right now we have about $163 or so dollars dedicated to "Club funds" to do that. We have some good money for ace pools to put together fairly decent leagues if we can agree on times. Weekends seem to be horrible for me but it seemed to work having people like Josh that could run the weekend leagues. Also I haven't looked into an Ace Race type tourney in a couple years so I'm not sure all that's available. Last time it seemed it was around $600 and we made our money back but pretty much that $600 was fronted by the bike shop. The 160 we have now was the leftover from the proceeds of that minus what we had put into the tags for a bag tag challenge. Which the Bag Tag challenge didn't work because half the people in it weren't on the Scene so no one knew who had what tag. Now that we have a few more people on the scene we do something like that to try to get some income to host an event such as an ace race and decrease the amount of money we need to put into it or ask from sponsors. We need to be figuring out how to generate funds to do the things that are gonna bring the people to create the scene in Bryan.
I'm down for whatever. I agree with all. I'll continue to do what I can for weekends. Brian can do what he can during the week. We need to get together and have a brainstorm.
I'd be in on the bag tags. I thought about doing a doubles round where everyone brings a friend who is new to the game. It wouldn't have to be for money, just something to get more people introduced to the game and the club. Maybe we'd get some new members out of a thing like that.
We might look into hosting a Vibram Birdie Bash. If I remember correctly, they have that set up so that everyone who signs up for it pays online ahead of time. Might save part of the hassle and upfront money in doing a tournament.
Let's get together and hammer out some ideas. If we can't meet in person, I have access to a conference call bridge that we could all dial in to.

It's not much of a money maker for the club at only $5 going to the TD/event but I think if we ran it the money would go to the club. We've had luck with doing some random draw doubles leauges in the past we could do that during the week. We could have an open bag tag challenge thing going on as I think most people are on the discgolfscene. We could mak it a requirement to be on the scene as a tracking concern. I'm pretty sure we could buy the 2014 bag tags and have them here by April, or beginning of May. I have to remember how much we sold them for a couple years ago.
The notifications have been hit and miss for me, too. I think we can get some things moving this year, as long as it quits snowing. LOL.
THIS IS A MUST FOR LEAGUE THIS YEAR - TWO DAYS OF LEAGUE PLAY EACH WEEK! Not every one works 1st shift!!! Also let's start the league before Summer is mostly over. Like April or May!
