Hello fellow disc golfers. This is the offical announcement of my traveling handicap team league.
The way it works:
You will find 5 people to form a team. These can be your buddies or you can think about stragety and try to aquire a veriety of skill levels. Each team will be matched up aginst one other team each sunday. So you wont be worrying about any other team. Within those two teams....Each player will get mactched up individually aginst a player from the opposeing team.
The Player handicap:
Each player will have an individual handicap between 1 and 6. A pro would be rated a 6, where as a beginer would be given a rating of 1. This handicap can, and probably will change throughout the season. The numbers 1-6 were chosen beacuse "6" is deviseable by 18 holes. (This will make more sence in a moment)
How the individual matchup will work:
Example 1: If you are a pro (6) And playing aginst a (3) then you would have to beat your opponet by the difference in rank (3 strokes) per 6 holes. In other words you have to beat your opponet by 9 total strokes or more to win the round. If you only beat them by 2 strokes then you would loose the match.
Example 2: If you are ranked a (2) and you get matched up aginst a (4) then you automatically start with a 6 stroke lead (2 strokes per 6 holes) beacuse you are the lesser skilled player. If at the end of the round you have lost the raw matchup by 5 strokes or less (or if you win the raw matchup) Then you have won your match!!!
How your team wins the matchup:
This is very simple. If 3 or more of your 5 players win theyre match-up then the team wins the match. If you have a player that could not show up. Then you are at a serious disadvantage. No suger coating there. If the teams are uneven then one player from the opposeing team will play aginst the average of all others at they're same skill level for that day.
Individual Points score:
Everybody always wants to **** about sandbagging during handicap events. This how i am going to attempt to solve it. When you win a matchup you want to try and win by the largest possible margin beacuse every stroke you win by awards you a point twards you individual score. These points will be kept track of throughout the entire league and at the end of the season the winning teams...as well as the winning individuals will be getting paid out. So go ahead and sand bag if you want but you will either be screwing your team or your personal score.
Cost....Time....Breakdown:
The cost for this league will be 30$ per person 150$ per team. I know that these numbers seem like alot but this week will be approx 10 weeks long. That breaks down to 3$ per week. Thats cheep!!!!!!!!!!!
20$ of this Entry will be given right back to the team payouts at the end of the season.
9$ will be going twards the individual payouts.
1$ will be taken for whatever the people want...CTPs, dougnuts, Coffee, Whatever. It will be voted on at the first event.

If there are 3 teams then each team will play each team 3 times. The league will be cancled in the event of having 2 teams or less.
Hm......Wish I knew more disc golfers!
Thats the beautiful thing about this league. You can bring people that are not nessacarily disc golfers and they still have a chance to beat a professional with a 15 stroke handicap. Plus you have 2 months to meet golfers.
Or maybe I could jump on someone elses team. I dont think any of my disc golf buddies are serious enough to consider this. I am though!
This sounds Awesome!! Great idea Lucky!!

Your origonal Ranking will be established on an honor system. You will tell me what you feel you should be ranked at. You might not start at that number but You will start near there. Your rank will go up when you win two consucetive matches by 4 strokes or more above the handicap. And it will go dow when you loose two consucetive matches by 4 strokes or more. The 4 strokes are based on a win while factering in the handicap. Not raw score. Ex: If you are a (5) and you are playing a (3) then you have to beat them by 6 strokes to win. If you beat them by 10 strokes or more then that would count as one of your rounds twards moving up in rank.
Thanks erik. Ive been working out the details for months now. Should be a good time.

The two captians will flip a coin (or a disc) to decide wich team will Bu throwing a player out there blind. Ideally you would want the other team to loose and have to put a player up blind first. So...Say you win the coin toss. And the other team decides to put up theyre pro (rank 6). You then get to strategize wich one of your players you think can beat that pro. Based on handicap. Say you a;so have a pro on your team and you think he can beat theyre pro in a straight up match. That would be stragety. On the second matchup you will be puting a player up blind. Then they get to strategize aginst you and vise versa untill all players have an opponet. Your whole team is not required to play on the same card. Once you have an opponet you and your opponet should be keeping each other responsible and honest. You may make groups however, and with whoever you like. to keep everybody happy and to avoid having 10 people (2 teams) on one card.
If the ideal number of teams sign up (10) then that would break down to $1000 being paid out to the top 3 teams. First place will get $225. Second place will get $150. And third place will get $75. Remember. A total beginer has just as much of a chance (if not more) to win this money as a seasoned pro. All you have to do is play a solid round. If you still dont understand how the format favors you then get in touch with me and ill explain it in a way that you understand.
