Last night of summer league and the competition was smoking hot. Terry Miller of Life Time Disc Sports was loaded up and ready to hand out some trophies and sweet treats.
The traditional big cookie made its appearance but with a slight twist, a happy birthday message to league director Johnny Rumble. Thanks for the treats and soft drinks Terry!
We’re having new players show up every week, and this week was no different. We had our largest field of 23 golfers tonight, one more than last week.
We also found out that Life Time Disc Sports is hosting another league starting next Thursday. The plan is to start at the same time but as the weeks go on the start time will move up by 15 minutes.
We had two Aces tonight, the first one was on hole four by Tim Schmidt. The second Ace was by Johnny Rumble on hole 6. Nice shots gents!!
On to the final round, nothing funny about this round; no alternate tee’s or two disc rounds just twice around from the concrete tee pads.
In the Beginner Division we had 6 golfers. Josh L. shot a great round to net him first place, new player Loretta E. and Zach A tied for 2nd and splitting the points.
Overall winners in the division, 2nd place Bonnie F. and your 1st place winner is Stephanie J. Very nice! I see some of the players licking their chops for a chance to take this division. On a side note; only after one lesson with Rumble, Casey shot 12 strokes better than in previous weeks...I think Casey will make her mark this up coming league!!
In the Rec. Division we had 4 golfers. Adam P. has held the 1st overall position since week 2 and Tim S. could not get enough players to gain the points when Adam was not at league. It was a great try but Adam P. takes 1st overall place in the division with Tim S. and Andrew P. finished in 3rd. The Advanced Division welcomes Tim and Adam in the next league.
In the Open Division we had 2 players. If Rumble would stop shooting -16 and up maybe we would get more open players!! Second overall winner in the open Division was Josh C. who putts like a man possessed; I would like to thank Josh who pushes me to make those putts because I know he’ll make his. Rumble takes first…moving on now.
In the hotly contested and ever popular Advanced Division we had 12 golfers. Coming into this week we had Brad G, Matt A., Nolan, and Luca all within 3 points. We did have a new player this week, Mike Ellery. Mike came to play and took first by one stroke and of course there was a three way tie for second with Brad G., Nolan, and Steve C., all shooting minus 6. I would like to thank Terry Miller for his smart phone because he was able to crunch the scores into Discgolfscene’s score sheet and tabulate our winner! We take the best 6 scores out of the 8 weeks. We did have one week missed because of the heavy rains so that week was a drop for everyone. Once the number’s popped out of the great crunching device, this is how it finished up. Luca took 3rd overall, just a half point ahead of Matt A., Nolan finished up in 2nd, two and a half points back. Brad Geisthardt finished 1st overall. Excellent job Brad!! Hope to see you next week.
