The State Singles Championships keeps growing while the Doubles Championships does not appear to do so. My guess why this is true is because the SUPER TEAMS scare away competitors. As soon as two superstar players team up and register, many other teams decide against joining.
One solution would be to change the tournament to Random draw WITHIN DIVISION. So individual players sign up, knowing they will be assigned another player in their same division.
We had a fulI field of Pros at the State singles yet only a handful of teams for doubles and NONE in Pro Masters. My guess is that we would get better turnout, if that is the goal.
