Ashlee Conley  › 2024 Truckee Hula Bowl   July 2 at 2:11am

Attention All Players!!! It will be extremely HULA HOT! Please ensure that you are drinking water 24-48 hours prior to playing on Saturday, we are looking at triple digits in high elevation. I strongly advise to bring umbrellas, hats and cooling towels for your neck. Shade golf is the word of the day. I will have 3-4 water stations with cool water to drink. Try to make sure that you are wearing loose cool clothing to keep yourself cool and protect yourself from sunburn. On lunch you are able to also go down river to cool off.

I am watching the weather temps and will absolutely shorten the round on Saturday to avoid endangering the players health if temps get out of control. Remember you have a long lunch and need to drink fluids when resting. I know we all like a good time but not at the expense of your health as I value your safety seriously. Pay attention to your bodies.

Thank you for your understanding.

Can pop up tents on some holes be an idea too?

Ashlee Conley   July 2 at 5:38am

Working on this as this was a thought getting water stations set, I will get this on my list to check. I will have water stations on the following: Holes 1 Between Holes 7 to 8, Hole 11 Hole 14 I will have a cold plunge located at Hole 12 for cool clean water to fill up water bottles to keep towels wet and cool as well.

The Truckee Fire Department is also 5 minutes from the course, if any emergencies call 911. Spoke with the Battalion Chief today to let him know of our event just in case. I have all proper protocols in place with signage and checking in on players throughout the round. Thank you Truckee Fire Department! We appreciate you.

Ashlee do you need more water jugs? I have 2.

Ashlee Conley   July 2 at 8:40pm

All good in this area have cases of water for all days, 3 coolers, 2 water jugs and a cold plunge pool for water to keep towels wet and heads. I will have cups for them to dip in so water can stay clean.

Thank you, Serenity,

My advice is to have only one round on Saturday. If we do play one round we will be done by 1pm to avoid the heat of the day. As much as I want to play two I think safety first. Remember Dayton. Then we can go chill by the river or go to a lake and cool off. Your call obviously but my weather app is staying consistent. Looking forward.

I would echo Tullin statement and seriously consider it.

Personally I hope nothing is cancelled. PDGA recommends cancelling a round if temps get over 105. Current high for Saturday is 97.

Casey Jensen   July 4 at 5:33am

Peter, I get where you coming from. 97 doesn't sound that hot if your from the valley heat, but it's high altitude heat. Very low humidity with max uv index. If we have a breeze 97-98 isn't bad. But the sun is a killer, we're more then a mile closer to the sun then the valley/foothills with less humidity. Someone died a couple years ago during an sts event, after the high altitude heat.

Peter Kean   July 4 at 11:03pm

I've spent plenty of time at elevation. Don't think it's hot enough to cancel a round. We can disagree on that. The sts tourney you're referencing was significantly hotter all weekend. I'll respect whatever decision Ashlee makes, but wanted to add my opinion to the conversation.

Thank you all for your input this is why I value all opinions. I will keep all posted when it comes time to make a decision.
