Sam Gibson  › 2024 Cody Hartman Spring Celebration at Buxton Woods Presented by Innova & Drops   March 29 at 3:57pm

Hello!

Thank you for signing up for the 2024 Cody Hartman Spring Celebration at Buxton Woods Powered by Innova and Drops!
We'll cut right to the chase as this email has been delayed. Apologies for the wait.
SPONSORS:
Huge shout out to Cory Dawkins and Dave Moore at Drops for stepping up and sponsoring the event! We'd also like to thank Roy Giliga and Ryan Hayes (Disc Golf Candy) for their additional sponsorship. And of course our hole sponsors whose names you will see on tee signs at Buxton over the weekend. If you see any of these people, please thank them. We wouldn't be having this event without them.
We also want to thank Jesse Tomaino and All Day Disc Golf for handling Scrip for our Ams. The plan is for Jesse to be on site Sunday at Stub for winning Ams to redeem their Scrip.

And where would we be without Kevin Strand and the good people at Buxton Woods (like STARNZY!) who invite us to celebrate Spring with them each year? Elsewhere.
WEATHER:
Remember last year? It looks like we paid our dues. Weather looks ideal for celebrating spring!

SCORING:
ALL players (or their caddies) are required to keep score. This isa helpful page: https://www.pdga.com/news/how-score-2024-player-td-guidance
Most will embrace the changes and use their phones as the PDGA app is awesome and very useful for more than just keeping score. Those who are stuck in the past and insist on writing down their scores will be provided with a stone tablet and a chisel so that they can record scores. No... not really. Players who requested a paper scorecard will be handed 3 scorecards when they check in on Saturday morning. It is their responsibility to hold on to those as those are the scorecards we are required to provide. If you have any questions, please make sure you speak with a tournament official prior to the start of competition.

LIVE SCORING:
We will be using live scoring. You can access the PDGA Live App or website: pdga.com/score

CELL SERVICE and LIVE SCORING
Cell service isn't awesome at Buxton. Some have reported it not being so hot at Stub. This does NOT prevent anyone from keeping score using the PDGA Live App or site. The web app has been designed so that scores are stored locally on your device for the entire round. When there is a loss of service, there is nothing to worry about because once you have reached a place where you get service again, your device synchs up with the server and scores “catch up”.

PARKING
Just like last year, there will be NO PARKING on John Lee Rd. You MUST park on Buxton Woods property. Kevin will be on site making sure that you park close to each other. It is possible that some will be parked in. If you see a friend, park them in. As there are only 72 players on site at once, this should be much less of a problem from years past. To help even further....

CARPOOLING
People who carpool are cool. They are so cool, we will be giving a free raffle ticket to anyone who shows up as part of a carpool. Same goes for people who are dropped off. So... if you are playing Stub but stop to drop off someone at Buxton, you both get a free raffle ticket. Come let us know at the 19th hole and we will take care of you.

PARKING FEE AT LL STUB STEWART
For those from out of the area, we should have mentioned that LL “Stub” Stewart is an Oregon State Park. As such, a day use fee of $5 is required to park in day-use areas. Oregon State Park Annual Passes also work.

RAFFLE TICKETS:
Raffle tickets will be available at Buxton and Stub will be available throughout the weekend. We have a full size Innova basket, several bags, tournament discs, apparel and more in our raffle for this year. There will be some sweet discs from Cody's collection that you don't want to miss out on. We also have an amazing piece of art from Lance Redfern. The raffle will be pulled Sunday between rounds for the Pros. Raffle prizes will be available at Buxton for pick-up for those who are not in attendance during the raffle. If you cannot get to Buxton, we will make arrangements for you to collect your prize. You are encouraged to put your full name and phone number or your PDGA # on your raffle tickets so that you can be notified if you win. Prices are $1 each or 6 for $5.

PRE-ORDERED FUNDRAISER DISCS
First, thank you all for ordering discs through DGS. Your discs are available to be picked up at any time at the 19th Hole at Buxton Woods. IF YOU MISSED OUT.... We went for it with the Champion Glows and the Halos and we are really pleased with the feedback we have gotten from those who have seen them. Justin Lago did an amazing job on this year's stamp and Innova Champion Discs absolutely nailed it. We still have SOME of each mold but they are going fast so shop early!

It is entirely possible that we have forgotten something. If we didn't cover something that you are needing to know – and especially if you think others should know it - please do not hesitate to contact me by replying to this email or picking up the phone and giving Sam a call at 971-645-6371. Or text... because that is easier. If anything comes up that bears repeating, I will send a follow-up email prior to Friday night.
Thank you all again and we look forward to some great competition!

Is there OB for hole 14 at stub? The right side has a cliff that's already flagged.

Sam Gibson   March 30 at 4:33am

No OB. Course notes have that noted.
