Good Afternoon Players,
We are so excited to be less than a week away for the 31st Annual City of Mobile Championships. We have put a lot of time and effort into making this event a great time for you all! We would like y’all to know how happy and excited we’re are to have you in our fantastic city. At this time any Amateur drops will receive players packs as refund. Please, if you have not read the about section on disc golf scene head over and read through it.
This email is to cover some final announcements to help you navigate your time while you are here. We hope y’all are able to get out and see some of our city while you are here. This is a beautiful place and we hope it’s a wonderful memory for you! There are plenty of restaurants, historical sites, and parks to visit. If you need recommendations feel free to contact us.
First, our players party/checkin will be downtown Mobile at the Insider/Outsider. (518 Dauphin St, Mobile, AL 36602). Parking downtown is only a little tricky, you can park on most streets unless it says no parking(obviously I know) but you would be surprised. Also, if you look up Wentzells downtown they have a nice parking lot not far from the location. (605 Dauphin St, Mobile, AL 36602). Our fly mart will be set up in the backside of the Insider/Outsider along with check in. This location has food and beverages. If you cannot make it please email or text on Thursday and confirm if you can. We highly encourage you to come check it out it will be a great time. We will have a players meeting to cover the important information and take question. We will also have some people speak on the history of this event.
Next, if you have time and want some
Rated practice rounds we will have two flex starts. Wednesday at Langan park from 11am-3pm. https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournament/COM_Flex_Start_Muni_2024 And Thursday from 10am-2pm at the Admrial. https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournament/COM_Flex_Start_Admiral_2024. The Winner of MPO will receive a spot on featured card for Friday. Along with these flex starts Dynamic Disc Birmingham will have two flex start on Friday and Saturday. Friday flex is at West Mobile, https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournament/COM_Friday_Flex_at_West_Mobile_presented_by_Dynamic_Discs_Iron_City_2024 and USA flex Saturday https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournament/COM_Saturday_Flex_at_USA_presented_by_Dynamic_Discs_Iron_City_2024 please check those out.
Next, a couple of added activities to look for. First Ezra Robinson will be holding a clinic Thursday at the Admiral from 2-3:30pm. Please go out support! Second, all the games (putting, long distance, raffles) will be at The Admiral. Come by and have some fun.
Next, I will be sending out a caddy book one more time, I know some people had issues with previous emails so hopefully we have it fixed. Live scoring will have Obs and distances available for you to see while you’re playing. We will have paper score cards incase live scoring goes haywire. Along with that t sign have distances for you to see if digital is down. The board will be set Wednesday for B and C pool. A pool will be set Thursday as soon as flex start results are in.
Lastly, I have seen the forecast for next week and I see there is a chance for rain. The good news is weather changes frequently here and we are extremely optimistic about our chances. In the event that we have to delay or cancel a round we will send out updates via email. If we only have rain, play will continue, lightning or extreme rain will cause delay or round canceled. If you are on the course and storms come through will have a three horn blast, this means get off the course and get to safe location. If this does happen, mark your lie, get off course and return play when it passes. You will hear a two horn blast to return and a single horn to start. If your marking moves, put it back in closes possible spot you were. Again we are extremely optimistic about the chances of little to no rain for most of the event.
Thank you all and we look forward to seeing y’all soon!
P.s. If you are in the FlyMart contact me by Wednesday for instructions.
