Hello disc golfers,
Thank you for signing up for the Spilman Park portion of the Dual County Duel presented by Dynamic Discs. I wanted to go over a few things for the tournament in order to make it as smooth as possible.
We will be starting the 1st round at 8am with check-in beginning at 7am. There will be an hour and a half break in order to allow you to get to Warrenton or Culpeper to get a good lunch and be back in time to start round 2 and have enough day light to get the 2nd round in. All players will receive a tournament stamped disc.
OB rules will be loaded in to the Live Scoring App and will be the same previous tournaments we have run here. In short, for holes 14-18, The gravel walking path and beyond are OB, the creek running along holes 6-9 is OB and the road along 2-4 I s OB. The only special rule is there is a 2-meter relief from the road.
MA1, MA2, and MA40 will be playing the “Long Tees” layout. All other divisions will be playing the traditional layout. Holes 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, and 16 will be temporary tee pads made with white paint on the ground and marked with white marker flags. This will be the same layout for those of you that played the Mountain Run Amateur Championship in September.
Trophies will be passed out after the last card is turned in and the number of trophies are determined by the registration numbers when the trophies were ordered 2 weeks ago.
If you have played this tournament in years past (Showdown at Spilman) you will be familiar with a unique distraction that occurs during the first round. And yes, I have looked and Santa and all of his firefighter friends will be making an appearance again this year.
We will have our pro shop set up selling discs, and other disc golf accessories. We will also be raffling off 2 Dynamic Discs Ranger bags. Raffle tickets as always will be $5/each or 5 for $20.
As always, if you have any questions, please call or text me at (540) 881-0611, or my wife, Kelly at (251) 508-3900.
Hey Jason, do you have the distances and/or layout for the long tees? Thanks and lookin forward to Saturday!
Piggy backing on Mike’s question…. Does every hole have a long tee? Or just the ones specifically mentioned above?
Mike, the distances will be in the Live Scoring app. Tommy, Only the holes mentioned in the message have long tees. The rest of the course are the permanent tee pads.
Thanks for the clarification. Looking forward to it!
Thanks!
Thanks Jason!
I forgot to mention playoffs. In the event of a tie, players will play Holes 1, 2, 13-18 in a loop until the tie is broken. You will play from the same tees as you played during the tournament.
