The course sign shows it as a Par 5, but we consider it a (tough) par 4 for the tournament. The other deviation from hole signs is Hole 13, which we consider a par 4 and the sign shows it as a 3. Great observation.
The tournament pars are based on play for the pro/advanced divisions. As such, hole 9 has been considered a par 4 for the past few years. The tournament pars are based on play for the pro/advanced divisions. As such, hole 9 has been considered a par 4 for the past few years. Statistically, the hole will play as a par 5 or a par 6 for other divisions. We tracked the hole with different pars for different divisions one year, and it was a bit confusing, so we’ve opted to use the pro pars for all divisions. Note that changing the par is subjective and does not actually affect the difficulty of the hole or PDGA ratings.
Hi Jasan, I believe the Green Tee for Hole 9 at 794’ should be a Par 5 not par 4. Thanks, Rick ????
