I am thinking of trying something a little new for the first round.
Cards will be 100% random. The idea being that people will get to play with people you normally don't and see things you normally wouldn't. Nancy and I made new friends when this happened to us in Amsterdam and she played with the top MPO player who ended up inviting us to play in Spain and Helsinki. So who knows what could happen!
You can tell me what you think of the idea publicly here or privately if you like. If there is overwhelming push-back, I'll respect it.
I think this is fun if we are playing the same layout. Sometimes when only one person is playing a long or short pad it can feel too clunky. I think the new club layout takes out some of the harder long pads.
Isn't it usually random at tournaments? I would like to play with friends for first round if possible. Then we all get to play with random people for round 2 when it's based on scores.
Aaron, the first round is normally random draw within the group (like MA2). I'm just planning to broaden that a bit. I hope to create new connections and allow for things like locals sharing course knowledge with some out-of-towners.
Personally my preference would be to play with the people I'm also competing with (in my division).
If we do a random card for round 1, I'd recommend we use the same layout for all divisions for that round too (have seen this create confusion in a different event).
I like this idea for GIGOGR but also agree that it will create confusion if there are multiple layouts in play. Random draw between players playing the same layout maybe?
I'm down
I should have said: on every card, all the players will play from the same tee pad.
Ted, what layout will MA3 play?
