I've played Disc golf for about 18 months, but never played a tournament. Would I be novice or rec? Also, I'm 50, so would it be better to sign up for 50+? Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks!
First tournament you should play your age restricted division or play novice. Neither will matter, but both will inform you a lot. If you are “good” avoid novice. this tournament will inform you on what to do going forward.

Hank, this is one of the most common questions in tournament disc golf. In my opinion, you're going to have a more enjoyable tournament experience playing with guys your own age. Not for any other reason than you're going to have more in common with them. However; because of the limited size of the MA50 division, payouts are going to be larger in Novice or Recreational just because of the larger number of players. Ultimately, there is no wrong answer, and the choice is up to you.
