Nate Heinold  › 2022 Discraft's Ledgestone Open   Sticky March 10, 2022 at 3:03pm

FYI we have updated the FAQ page with this new clarification about the AM side of the event:

What happens if I signup for an AM division and my rating moves up?

You will need to move up to that division. We will be using the July ratings update this year for Ledgestone and will be ignoring the August ratings update, since it is 2 days before the event. When the July ratings update happens, we will move affected MA4 players who have rated out of MA4 to MA3; we will move affected MA3 players who have rated out of MA3 to MA2; and so on. If you are currently signed up for the event but rate out of your division, you are guaranteed a spot in the event.

What a relief thank you. This makes booking travel much less of a stress.

Dan Pinho   March 10, 2022 at 3:41pm

Nate you are a better leader than every politician in the country. Thank you so much this is really apreciated.

Tony Davis   March 10, 2022 at 3:54pm

What about the other way? I registered a divison above, just to ensure that I didn't lose my place. Can I move down if I don't improve my rating this year?

Nate Heinold   March 10, 2022 at 4:19pm

No, we can't people down, unless someone wants to switch with you.

Egin Tollkuci   March 10, 2022 at 5:09pm

If youre in MA1 looking to go down to MA2 send me a message in July Tony and I will be willing to switch regardless of my rating.

Craig Bleckler   March 10, 2022 at 5:30pm

So this is unlikely but what if lets say 50 people rate out of MA4 and have to move to MA3, and nobody rates out of MA3. Now you guaranteed them a spot so the pool just goes up from 540 to 590? Isn't that going to affect course schedule and everything? Also, what about the waitlist? This would affect them as well I would think.

Tony Davis   March 10, 2022 at 6:29pm

Egin, thanks for the offer. Unfortunately, I'm not nearly that good. Haha. I'm an MA4 guy who was afraid of getting better this year and missing the tournament.

Nate Heinold   March 10, 2022 at 7:10pm

Craig, see the above statement: If you are currently signed up for the event but rate out of your division, you are guaranteed a spot in the event.

Nate Heinold   March 10, 2022 at 7:11pm

Craig, what you are saying is statistically impossible. This is our 12th year of doing this event, and we have always had plans behind the scenes to address every possible situation, and this is no different. We feel confident in our plan.

Craig Bleckler   March 10, 2022 at 8:03pm

Good deal! I'm not sure why I was even worried about it. You definitely have this under control. I hope everything goes off without a hitch. Extremely excited for this event. Only 5 months to go. Thanks for all you do Nate!

Adam Korber   March 11, 2022 at 12:17am

Thank you so much for this update Nate!!!!

Alex Derr   March 12, 2022 at 4:08pm

This is a great update for the AM side! I am right under 970 but have accepted cash. Would I still be guaranteed a spot to play in the event if I am over 970 in July or how would that work with it not being an AM to AM move and instead AM to PRO with a separate event?

Nate Heinold   March 13, 2022 at 1:30pm

Alex, you would not be guaranteed a spot, since you would not be rating out of a division. Taking cash means you have become a pro, which is not the same thing as rating out of a division. The DGPT event is a separate event from the AM event, and unfortunately you would not have a spot in the DGPT event if your rating goes to 970+

Alex Derr   March 15, 2022 at 3:02am

Assumed that was the case but wanted to be sure. Thanks Nate

Steele Boonstra   April 1, 2022 at 5:36pm

Okay let me see if I’m understanding this correctly. I currently sit at 870 rated in AM3. By July if I’m rated AM2 I will automatically be placed in AM2 and won’t be waitlisted?

Brandon Milhomme   April 29, 2022 at 8:52pm

Nate I saw that you were expecting more than 2300 players this year. Will you be adding additional spots or does this number take in consideration the pros?

Nate Heinold   April 30, 2022 at 1:24am

This number takes in the consideration of pros.

Caleb Ritchey   May 24, 2022 at 12:47am

Hey Nate, if someone is currently registered in MA1 and they cash in a local tournament as MPO but are under 970 rated, then would they still be able to play MA1?

Nate Heinold   May 24, 2022 at 1:17pm

Yes

Rich Longer   May 24, 2022 at 3:38pm

Which month’s rating update will be used to separate the pools

Nate Heinold   May 24, 2022 at 4:14pm

Read this page for that information, Rich: https://ledgestoneopen.com/event/faq/

Rich Longer   May 31, 2022 at 3:26pm

Assuming this statement applies to the pool divisions too: "We will be using the July ratings update this year for Ledgestone and will be ignoring the August ratings update, since it is 2 days before the event."

Josiah Beachy   May 31, 2022 at 6:10pm

I would suppose so.

Erin Faulkner   July 10, 2022 at 4:00pm

In fa1, is there a ratings cap? And if that person goes over do they get a spot on the pro side or just get a refund?

Nate Heinold   July 10, 2022 at 10:10pm

You can view the PDGA ratings classification and get that information. There is no ratings cap for FA1 unless you have taken cash. If you have taken cap, there is a ratings cap. Someone who rates out of FA1 and has taken cash does not have a guaranteed spot in FPO, but we expect anyone on the FPO waitlist to get in.

Joshua McDonald   July 13, 2022 at 11:12am

Is there date or time when players will be moved to the correct division for their July ratings? Thanks.

Nate Heinold   July 13, 2022 at 12:58pm

No, there is not a set date.

Marvin Lindsay   July 26, 2022 at 3:27am

What if you signed up for a higher division and your rating is at a lower rating; and your rating never was in the division you signed up for?

Nate Heinold   July 26, 2022 at 11:06am

Marvin, that is not relevant.
