Welcome to the 2021 Atchison Aviatrix presented by GRIPeq!
PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE EMAIL. WE ARE NOT HAVING AN OFFICIAL PLAYER MEETING…THIS EMAIL IS YOUR PLAYER MEETING.
If you are receiving this email because you used your email when signing up another player for the event, please forward this info to that player.
THANK YOU SPONSORS:
Huge thank you to Grip Equipment for their title sponsorship of this B-tier. Their support provided the means to have the added cash and great player pack with amateur payouts. I personally carry a Grip Bag and think you should too.
Would also like to thank the following for sponsoring tee signs:
Brandon and Bonnie Tackett
Amberwell Health
Berger Company
Blish-Mise
Live Well Atchison
Union State Bank of Atchison
Lickity Split Ice Cream
THANK YOU TO OUR VOLUNTEERS:
Thank you to Brandon Tacket, Kevin Reiger, Damon Morgan and Adam Goodpasture for course preparation, basket placements and related items.
Thank you also to Brandon Tacket for running down the tee sign sponsors.
Thank you to Justin Farrel for being the Assistant Tournament Director.
DIVISIONS / DATES:
Everyone is playing two rounds on Saturday, October 9th on a shotgun start and one round n Sunday, October 10th on tee times. Round one hole assignments will be posted sometime Friday at the pdga event page.
Round two shotgun start time and hole assignments and round three tee times will be posted at the same link.
>> As a reminder - you still need to check in with the Course Director (Rob or Justin) from 8 - 8:35 Saturday morning.
LATE WITHDRAWAL / NO-SHOW
At this point, it is too late to receive a refund. However, if you notify me at 785-764-2229 prior to tee time, you will still receive your player pack for an Am.
To cancel, text or call your name and division, with comment you are cancelling to 785-764-2229.
PARKING -
Both courses will have ample parking. Please do not park along the fairways for either course.
RESTROOMS
Jackson Park as flushing toilets, but admittedly they are a bit ‘spartan’. Warnock Lake has an outhouse directly across the street from Tournament Central and there is also a modern toilet at the campground which is near the teebox of Hole 10.
CHECK-IN
Check-in is from 8am - 8:35 am at the course you play for Round 1. At Jackson, it is the brick open air shelter at the parking lot (not the stone house). At Earhart / Warnock Lake it is at Shelter #1 which is inbetween Basket 1 and Tee 13. All players, Pro and Am, need to check in. If you don’t check in, I will presume you are a No Call, No Show and you may be scratched from the event.
SCORING
We will be using the PDGA digital scoring system. (This is not Udisc). To access it, go to pdga.com/score. Enter in the password, then your last name or PDGA number, and the card will pull up. I will have paper scorecards as a backup. You can also use udisc as a backup. However, to submit the scores, it needs to be done through the PDGA scoring system.
Password: Electra (Amelia Earhart’s last plane she flew was a Lockheed Electra 10E
CADDY BOOK
Hole lengths, pars, and OB rules are listed in the PDGA app while you are keeping score. You can also go to this link to find each course set up here:
Jackson Park:
JACKSON PARK OB Rules.docx
Earhart at Warnock Lake:
Earhart Aviatrix 2021.xlsx
COURSE CONDITIONS
In my opinion, Jackson Park is not cart friendly and Earhart DGC is somewhat cart friendly.
AMATEUR PLAYER PACKS
Ams will receive a tournament stamped disc and a pair of Maverick DG joggers.
You can choose one disc from either Innova or Discraft. I would suggest you review and decide on your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice.
Innova choices:
GStar Aviar
KC Pro Glow Aviar3
GStar Leopard3
R-Pro Pig
Star Roadrunner
Star Thunderbird
GStar Wraith
While there will be water coolers on the course I fully expect they will go dry at some point. They will be refilled as soon as possible, but you need to be prepared to bring enough water for yourself. The water on the course is a back-up.
LUNCH BREAK / ROUND 2
We will have an approximately 1 hour lunch break after the last card is completed before starting round 2 for each pool. It is very likely that each pool round 2 will start at different times from each other. This is actually helpful for us at the end. Check this link after Round One to find your starting time and hole.
If you decide for any reason that you don’t or can’t play the second round, please tell Rob, the Tournament Director. This is crucial as it will affect others on how the second round is organized.
ACE / CTP FUND
If you ace in the first or second round, you get first choice of the prizes available. If there are more than 1 ace, we will determine the order of choice by using the length of the hole that was aced. If the holes are the same length I will flip a coin or something similar to determine the order of choice.
Each pool will have their own ace prize collections. Currently Pool A is a Sand CS2 and a Pink G2. Pool B is a Black BX3 and a Pink G2. If we get significantly more participants that pay in, this may be adjusted to nicer and/or more items but it definitely will not be adjusted to fewer items.
If there are prizes left for either pool, normally we do a modified CTP game to award the prizes to those that paid into the ace fund. Since this tournament’s final round is on tee times, doing the CTP game after the last round is not practical for those that play earlier in the day. Therefore for this event, instead of the CTP game, whatever items are left after the second round I will do a random drawing for each separate pool to award whatever remains for that pool’s prize collection.
Instructions on how to update your registration to include the ace fund:
On a computer, or mobile browser, under the Registered Players section, you will see your name as registered. Click EDIT and add the ace fund.
AWARDS / PAYOUTS
To decrease the amount of congregation we will not have a formal awards ceremony. I will give the award as soon as the clear winner is determined after the second round. PRO PAYOUTS can be either a check picked up the same day, a check mailed to you, or PayPal Goods and Services (winner pays fees) based on what you chose during registration. AM PAYOUTS can either be the same day with inventory I have on-hand, or you can receive a Gift Card code to redeem via my webstore maverickdiscgolf.com. If you choose the webstore, it will charge you sales tax and shipping. I do have some items in my tournament bins that are not available online, and I have some stuff online that is not available in my tournament bins.
TROPHIES
There is a First Place trophy for all but 2 divisions (they have been notified).
1st and 2nd trophies for Intermediate
1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Recreational
PDGA POSTING
My goal is to have the 'official' results posted to the PDGA by Monday evening, so they are available for Tuesday’s ratings update. There is a slight chance that they won't get done in time. I will certainly try, but please accept my apologies if they are not.
THANK YOU
I want to sincerely thank you for choosing to play in Maverick Disc Golf events, and particularly the Atchison Aviatrix. If you are a first timer, I hope you enjoy it!
