SEASON FINALE RECAP 3.9.2022

We had 35 players come out to the 2021-2022 Fall Winter Season Finale this week! It was a great way to end the season with good winter golf conditions. Cold temps but partially thawed grounds allowed us to walk, throw & putt safely. We played a White - Red layout & were able to play all of the pads. Thank you to Richard Thelen for putting in some hard work on hole 7 to help water drain away from the pads.

We had 35 players come out to the 2021-2022 Fall Winter Season Finale this week! It was a great way to end the season with good winter golf conditions. Shooting -16 by himself (Cali), Corey Selig took first cash, which only helped push his leaderboard domination even higher. Corey had an impressive 19 rounds played this season & has taken a well deserved 1st place finish with 522 points overall. Congratulations!!

Second thru last cashing spots were split evenly by five teams who all shot -13 scores. Those teams included Chilson/Herron, Taint/Ms. Vick, Thelen/Buchanan, Chapman/Frame & Brayton/Bottorff.

Since there was no ace hit during the last round, we had a CTP ace pool throw off from 1 Red with two cashing spots. Krumm took first cash for $90 & Buchanan got second cash for $28. We will start the Spring/Summer season with $118 in the pot!

We are planning on taking a 3 week break before starting the 2022 Spring/Summer season, with the first round being held on Wednesday, April 6th. Please keep an eye out for updates on Disc Golf Scene.

WC Glow wants to thank everyone who made this a successful Fall/Winter season! We saw some of the highest player turnouts compared to Fall/Winter seasons in the past few years & had nearly 90 different players come out for at least one round with us. We’re really looking forward to seeing familiar & new faces with warmer temperatures in the Spring/Summer season.

GLOW RECAP 3.2.2022

Bandemer is finally thawing out some, at least enough to make walking & putting a little less dangerous. The weather started off mild but temperatures dropped quickly during the round & we had some light rain that turned into freezing rain/snow during the last few holes.

Taking first cash with the top score of the night was a -13 shot by Chapman/Buchanan that included an ACE on Hole 2 from the Red pad by Neil. Congrats!! Neil walked with $169 & received 30 additional bonus league ... more

22 people came out to the Bandemer Skate Rink this past Wednesday to play a round of Red - White pads. We played White pads for both rounds on hole 7 due to the Red pad being under a couple inches of ice. Conditions were pretty rough between the fairways being sheets of ice, low 20º temps & some mild wind. Luckily the pads were clean & dry, besides 7 Red.

Bandemer was 80% covered in ice, some snow & water on Wednesday night. Luckily the pads were clean excluding 7 Red, which was under about 2” of water. 17 players came out to play a White - Red layout, but we played 7 White both rounds due to the water. There was a tie for first & second cashing spots between Selig (Cali) & Common/Bottorff with -13 scores. Last cash went to Sprow/Krumm with a -11 score.

36 players came out for a textbook definition Red-Red shootout at Bandemer. We had mild temperatures which made for some slick snow this past Wednesday night. League Cancelled Feb 2, 2022

Hey everyone:

I am going to cancel league for this week. A LOT of snow coming our way and there are a number of you who drive a decent distance to get to Ann Arbor each week. No need for any of us to risk having an unfortunate accident or issue while out driving. I really don't like having to say "stay home" but I think this is a good choice.

Enjoy the night at home, treat yourself to something nice, or perhaps just take a welcomed nap (I personally endorse this option).

We have a large storm system on the way and while it is not here yet and potentially can change, I want to at least get this on your radar for this week. Predictions vary on the amount of snow, but looks like it could be a mess either way.

-7º (feels like) temps + 4” of snow = disc golf for 20 people that braved the conditions this past Wednesday night at Bandemer. We played a round of Red + Red pads to make the conditions a little more tolerable & make the night go a little faster. Chilson/Frame took first cash with a -15 score! 28 players came out to Bandemer for a nice evening of winter disc golf. Temperatures were mild with little to no wind, frozen ground & some packed snow on top. We played a WR + RW alternating pad layout which lead to tie for first & second cash. Brayton/Chilson & Sprow/Buchanan shot -14 scores & split the cash evenly. There was also a tie for third & fourth cash between Perras/Thelen & Herron/Armstrong with -13 scores.

BURRRRRRR! It was a frigid night for disc golf this past Wednesday. We had temps in the low teens with negative feels like temps. There was also a few inches of accumulated snow on the ground along with 15-20mph winds. We decided to play a Red-Red layout at Bandemer to make it a faster round. We had 28 players come out to play a round of RW + WR tee pads at Bandemer this week. Since both pads on Hole 7 were surrounded by water, we played an alternate tee which played from 8 Blue to 7s basket. Temperatures fell below freezing on a relatively wet & muddy course, but those conditions didn’t seem to matter with Trombley/Thelen shooting a -15 & taking first cash. Second, third & fourth cash were taken by Ballios/Selig, Crouch/Walker & Common/Tschirhart, all shooting ... more

Thelen also nailed another ace (2nd week in a row), this time on Hole 3 from Reds. Taking home a $73 payout & adding another 30 points to his league standings!

We will play our league round and then at the conclusion, gifts will be selected. My initial thought was winning scores from the round will have first choice at the "gifts" that were brought (assuming that they participated and brought one themselves). If there are other ideas about how to make that happen, please message me to share your thoughts.

2nd place will go next, and so on until all gifts have been selected. We have done this for the past few years and I think things have gone well. In addition to that, who does not like getting some new disc golf gear?

A nearly perfect very late fall evening with temps in the mid 50s & mild wind brought out 36 players to Bandemer. GLOW RECAP 12.8.2021

28 players came out to throw a round of RW - WR alternating pads at Bandemer this past Wednesday night. It was a cold but rather calm night which lead to a hot score of -13 shot by Trombley/Pilon, who took home first cash. Second, third & fourth cash was split evenly by 4 tying teams who shot -12 on the night. Those teams included Plantz/Buchanan, Frame/Jopps, Chilson/Brayton & Selig/Watts.

Our friend Tommy Walker is making plans for a trip to South America and will be taking plastic to help support the growth of Disc Golf during his visit. He has traveled before and we have sent a good amount of stuff with him. We would LOVE to help support his efforts this time as well.

Due to warming temperatures and some rain, we saw a WET and muddy course for league this week. We played Long odd, Short Evens on the night and had 29 players in attendance. Hot score on the evening was a -16 by Selig/Jopps. Their hot round was followed with a -14 by Herron/Tschirhart, -13 by Ritchey/Thelen, and a -12 by Fittins/Perras.

Our Thanksgiving Eve round brought out 25 players to Bandemer to play round of Red & White tee pads. It was pretty cold out with a little rain/sleet mixed in at a couple points during the night. There was a 5-way tie that took all of the cashing spots (1st-4th). Selig/Kerns, Chilson/Common, Trombley/Sprow, Milewski (Cali) & Thelen/Taint all shot -13 scores. We tested a new layout at MBD this past Wednesday. Thinking that it may be an option during the harsh winter months if we still want to play Mary Beth. First round was all short pads on holes 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, & 18. Second round was long pads on the same holes including Alternate hole 1 (sidewalk to 1’s basket), Long hole 3 (2’s pad to 3’s basket) & Long hole 14 (14’s pad to 17’s basket).

Fall Apparel

Trying to gauge interest in running some fall apparel (hoodies, long sleeve performance type shirts, etc.). I will have some sample items with me tomorrow night. Will also try to have some kind of order form available as well. Will not start processing the order until I have a commitment (you putting some money down on your item). If you have some extra cash $10-$20 or more, and want some new WC GLOW gear, bring it tomorrow night.

We had a perfect fall evening for a great round of glow at MBD last night. Weather was cool & a bit clammy with very little to zero breeze. Near perfect conditions lead to a near perfect round from Crouch/Brayton, shooting fire with a -17 score. Nice work guys! What a way to kick of the Fall/Winter 2021-2022 season. We had rain drizzle & mist along with high winds during the entire round. We decided to play a Red - Red layout to make it a little quicker evening for the 13 people who came out to play because of the poor weather.

Taking first cash with a scorching -17 score was Sprow/Cook! Nice shooting guys! Second cash went to Walker/Common with a -15 score & last cash went to Smart/M. Magner with a -14 score.

Wet Conditions - Prepare

OK, the day we have waited for. League is scheduled to start this evening.

We have poor weather conditions to start out. Course will be wet, likely standing water in some areas. Please be prepared.

It is supposed the rain much of the day. Right now, that looks like all that we have coming our way. If conditions are dangerous (lightning and such) we will need to cancel to keep everyone safe.

As of this moment, I expect to be able to play the round this evening. If we will cancel, another post will be made here and aim to make that determination by 4 or 5pm this afternoon.
