Skins in disc golf is different than match or stroke play. In a Skins match, players on a card are playing each hole for a set amount of money, and the lowest score takes the skin, a tie pushes the skin to the next hole. In a Skins match, players on a card are playing each hole for a set amount of money, and the lowest score takes the skin, a tie pushes the skin to the next hole. There’s no need to keep a running total of strokes for your round, as sometimes you may not need to finish out a hole if you’re not the one taking or pushing for the skin. It’s all about making the most money you can by winning more skins than your cardmates (randomly determined). The tee order stays the same but you rotate who throws first, so you’ll always throw before and after the same people. If you throw first on hole 1 on a card of 4 players, you’d be first again on hole 5, 9, 13, and 17 as you move to the back of the order for the next hole after being first to tee off. There’ll be two divisions, a $10 and a $20 division, In the $10 division, players on a card of 4 for example will be playing each hole for $2, and in the $20 division, a card of 4 players play for $4 skins each hole. $1 from each entry automatically goes into the ace pot, starting ace pot is $50.
Here’s where it gets more interesting. Each player has one Mulligan per hole available to them. They can use their mulligan on a teeshot, upshot, or putt. This Mulli-Skins format will make obtaining skins much harder and put even more pressure on each shot especially when you have a chance to take the skin or multiple skins with a clutch putt.
The first 2 weeks of this league will be a trial run of sorts to see how it plays out. 11/25 at Brengle and 12/2 at Kit Carson Park. Meet up at the practice baskets ant 10 and we’ll random flip to decide cards and then aim to tee off shortly after 10. Hope to see you there!
