I have a NEW XT NOVA to give up as a "Long Putt" prize. DRIVE SAFE!!!

I will be using BYOP dubs as a default format for any D.O.R.C.s rounds in inclement weather. As an added benefit of this format you can rest assured there will always be someone there to play with. And for added fun I will be tracking teams scores in a ledger and applying a handicap to future D.O.R.C.s BYOP dubs rounds leveling the playing field.

D.O.R.C.s start time

After today and through the month of January the D.O.R.C.s league start time will be 7:30am. In February the start time will change to 7:00am so as to take advantage of the early light. Start time will remain at 7:00am through the summer and into winter.

D.O.R.C.s schedule change December 18th

In anticipation of snow accumulation December 18th I'm changing the D.O.R.C.s league schedule to Cascades Gateway park 8:00am.

The FUNky format will be Lone Wolf with a little twist. If there is enough snow I will go out early and build several snow ramps up to some of the baskets. If ramps are used in either drive, approach or putt shot to finish the hole, points earned for that hole will be doubled. I did this once before a few years ago and it was a blast. Next weeks D.O.R.C.s round at Keizer Rapids park will be Lone Wolf format. I am testing a theory with a new rule in the Lone Wolf format.
-The wolf will walk out to spot regardless of going "Lone Wolf" or "Partnering" up. I think at course like Keiser where spotting is key and time is critical this new rule will help the flow and add to the fun for this format.

On May 24th the D.O.R.C.s league will travel to the Albany area for a "Trifecta-of-Fun" Feild trip.

We will begin at Tekena Landing for a singles round.
Bag tags will be settled from this round alone.
Players may continue the quest for a green star for the day by playing in a "Doubles" round (partners determined by Tekena singles round leaderboard) at Bryant, then a short break for lunch, then finally a "Lone Wolf" round at Adair.

Yesterday's Trifecta-of-Fun was fun indeed however I don't recommend going to Takena or Bryant parks unless you wear long pants and don't mind the poison oak and 10' tall blackberry everywhere. Adair was beautiful as usual so try going out there instead.

I just realized that I have achieved the first "quadruple Green Star" in the history of the D.O.R.C.s league.
That is quite an accomplishment considering the 176 weeks scored to the D.O.R.C.s league! I think it is a testament to the success of the "FUNky Formats" and spreading the joy of disc golf that this has NOT happened earlier.

D.O.R.C.s March schedule

Sorry it's late but here is the schedule/format for March D.O.R.C.s league;
March 8th Woodmansee/Stranger
March 15th Tekena Landing/Singles
March 22nd Keizer Rapids/Lone Wolf
March 29th Dallas/RIPT Doubles

As this will be D.O.R.C.s first time at Tekena Landing and I have not yet played it, I am open to makeing changes to the schedule.

D.O.R.C.s FUNky Format for Corban

It has been a long time since we did RIPT doubles at Corban. I had a request for RIPT and a request for doubles. So I combined them.

Players will draw a single card from a deck of paired cards,
Cards value determine teams of 2 players,
Teams of 2 players hold those single cards to play during the round,

Some formats ONLY work at specific courses so alternate formats will likely be Singles or doubles depending on turnout.

D.O.R.C.s/Tri Lambs doubles round DGLA & NonDGLA

This Sunday before the X-Mess Roger and I will be hosting our respective leagues (Tri Lambs / D.O.R.C.s) together. Please note the D.O.R.C.s league is in the winter DGLA points series and Tri Lambs is not. As both leagues will be playing the same format and as mixed cards from both leagues players will be FIRST divided by weather or not they want to be scored for the DGLA points THEN randomized into doubles partners. This way it is much easier for Roger and I to run through scoring leagues to DGS. Please be ready to go at 7am sharp as the X-Mess will start ON TIMEðŸ˜Š

D.O.R.C.s Lost & Found discs at Tiger Discs

Thanks to Roger for taking seven discs that have been found during D.O.R.C.s rounds over the last few months to his shop in an effort to return them to their rightful owners. It is a challenge indeed at times to return discs and I am thankful Roger is willing to help. Please stop by Tiger Discs and maybe something you lost will turn up in his Lost & Found.

I took a nasty spill on hole #2 at Wheatland DGC today. As a result I was not able to continue at the DGLA Throw-Off.

D.O.R.C.s is scheduled for Wheatland DGC tomorrow and I have asked Silas to run it in my absence. Please be kind to ANY sub-league director and follow instructions including ANY "FUNky Format" he decides to use.

The D.O.R.C.s regular scheduled rounds are set one month in advance. I prefer to make schedule changes with plenty of notice.

This week the regular scheduled round is at Keizer Rapids, but it is likely that most of the D.O.R.C.s regulars will be at the alternate round at Camp Taloali.

This weeks FUNky Format will be "CALI" twice through. I chose "CALI" format for this week mostly because this NEW Corban course is a bit overgrown and it may be nice to have some choices so we are not playing thick brush or O.B. too much. Until we play this course enough to find the "safe" route to avoid the thick stuff and beat the course in a bit I will likely choose this format at Corban Collage.

At least once a year the D.O.R.C.s league travels to distant lands where dreams of disc golf glory come true.

D.O.R.C.s regulars and new-comers alike are welcome to join this ALL-DAY D.O.R.C.s event. This years D.O.R.C.s Field Trip will be on June 1st. We will met at 6:30 am at the Bush Pasture north parking lot on Mission st. for car-pooling, then travel to Horning's Hideout to play ALL three courses with a break for a Pot-Luck lunch between rounds.

I am proud to announce that the D.O.R.C.s league will participate in the DGLA Oregon cooperative points series -Summer 2014-

I have set the D.O.R.C.s schedule so that at least once a month the D.O.R.C.s players may find themselves near enough to another league to get there in time. I don't want to hold up other leagues start time so if you must leave w/o finishing a D.O.R.C.s round I will simply shot limit the remaining holes and score you out to finish the round. The April 6th D.O.R.C.s round is set to be RIPT DOUBLES for "FUNky Format" but if there is no objections I would like to try RIPT TRIPLES as that we have never done that before. Each team of three would have 3 RIPT cards to use during the round, players draw cards to establish team at random.

Note: D.O.R.C.s Bag Tags "surrendered" to the league admin. are put in to the next weeks round tag dump, the tags are reissued by score respectively INCLUDING the DNF players and players that surrendered tags then did not play the round.

Ok all the scheduled locations and times have been set through the end of April, remember if you want to know where we are going to be look at the D.O.R.C.s (Day of rest crew) league that's is the correct schedule to be reading.

Secondly nest week is at Corbin and we will be playing R.I.P.T with the normal out of bounds rules...see ya there DORC's.

Greetings D.O.R.C.s,

This is poke for popular opinion. As "FUNky Formats" for D.O.R.C.s rounds go none are more FUNky than "RIPT DOUBLES" rounds. I was thinking since the last "RIPT DOUBLES" round was nixed by being overpopulated (Not enough cards) we should try it again. Here is the catch; If too many people show up again then "Doubles" (NO RIPT) it will be. In other words if there is more than 20 players I will call it "Doubles" (No RIPT).

Note; The last 3 round were Singles, Lone Wolf, Doubles, so it is high time for something different.

I just viewed some video from Lip of how bad Keizer Rapids is flooded. Any ideas where D.O.R.C.s should move to? I think Corban U. anyone else want to second that?

After the CCDG Saturday Singles round today at Cascade I built a Ramp up to the hole #17 with snow. If a Wolf or Wolf/Partner or Big group team uses the snow ramp to finish the hole I will give DOUBLE points for that hole. "FUNky Format" for the fun of it.

I have tried many different methods of finding what "FUNky Format" to use and always someone bitching. I just started deciding early in the week after posting a question and waiting for feedback. No feedback thus Lone Wolf it is. Check the tread. Drawing for cards wasted time. Alternate D.O.R.C.s may do whatever they want.

D.O.R.C.s Schedule change

D.O.R.C.s are ready to travel again! On Feb. 2, 2014 D.O.R.C.s will be at Adair (tee-off 7:30am).

An alternate round for D.O.R.C.s who can not travel is available as always but will not be added to the schedule until results are sent in by alternate host, whoever that may be. In other words if you are willing to host an alternate round locally please send me a PM or post on the D.O.R.C.s "talk" page and NO REST FOR THE WICKED:)

If the D.O.R.C.s move quickly as I know we can there will be plenty of time to play both. Rogue Rider and I have played 18 holes at Cascade in 45 min several times. A card of 4 players should not take longer than 90 min.

I'm not showing up for a DORCs "speed round" before I go to Taolali. I want to be at Taolali early enough to not feel rushed. And I'm not really excited about the idea that if I don't have time to finish the round that my tag becomes forfeited. I'll come back to DORCs when I have the time to play.

Since D.O.R.C.s just played Taloali 2 weeks ago I will keep the D.O.R.C.s scheduled round at Cascade. I know for a fact several D.O.R.C.s will be there. As for an alternate round at Taloali, you D.O.R.C.s are welcome to score a round and I will add it for a Green star. Please track Bag Tags going in to the round for tie-breakers. Next week the D.O.R.C.s will be at Canyonview for a round of RIPT singles! It has been way too long since the D.O.R.C.s played RIPT. Try to get there a bit early to be able to tee-off at 8am. This local gem has many technical holes SCREAMING for "Ambidextrous Drive", "Bizarro Hole Solo", "Fire In The Hole", and "Create Tee Solo" cards to be played on. RIPT HATERS- CCDG dubs starts at 10am- beauty sleep earned.

By POPULAR demand, D.O.R.C.s this Sunday Dec. 22 has moved to Dallas City Park and to 7:30am.

"FUNky format" (RIPT DOUBLES) to speed things up.

RIPT DOUBLES (for those of you who don't know)
Two like cards for each potential team are pulled from deck, shuffled then drawn one by one. Teams are determined by similar cards. Those cards can be used in the round but there is no further drawing of cards unless a "RIPT CHALLENGE" card is played. Plays faster than "RIPT" but FUNNER than "Doubles" :)

Thanks to one of our D.O.R.C.s regulars (Jason "Rooster" Brewster) efforts the D.O.R.C.s league is launching its LIFETIME bag tags tomorrow at Keizer Rapids park.

D.O.R.C.s Bag Tags are free for LIFE!

D.O.R.C.s Bag Tags on the line all the time in D.O.R.C.s fashion regardless of format.

D.O.R.C.s Bag Tags that remain out of circulation for 12 weeks will be replaced and later generations of bag tags will trump older bag tag.

Rooster is not charging for the D.O.R.C.s Bag Tags but I will be donating $20 for his costs, I hope other D.O.R.C.s will aid his efforts too.

D.O.R.C.s Alternate rounds

As I have stated before, D.O.R.C.s alternate rounds are NOT to replace the scheduled round. D.O.R.C.s will still play at Corban U. Nov 24th.

Today the D.O.R.C.s played around at Keizer and that round was decided to be scored to the league by all the D.O.R.C.s players present.

Congrats to Johnny "Two Hands" Harpster for his green star today.

D.O.R.C.s Schedule change

D.O.R.C.s will start at 7am tomorrow at Cascades before the CCDG Bag Tag round. For quick play we will play "Lone Wolf" format unless fewer than 5 players show up.

Also, next week at Canyonview will start at 8am to allow for enough light in the canyon.

After that the schedule will remain at 7:30am for 3 weeks, then go to 8am through January

Due to the CCDG bag tag finale next weekend, I'm swapping venues for the next two weeks.

D.O.R.C.s on Nov. 10th will be at Cascades and tee off at 7:30 am. I know it will be dark for the first two holes but the Bag Tag Finale players meeting ends at 9:00

D.O.R.C.s on Nov. 17th will be at Camp Canyonview and tee off at 8:00 am.

Or come out after the Zombie Bash! After some discussion... The Zombie Bash 12 hole layout will be left up for the whole day Sunday Oct 27th to be played by the public from 12pm to 530pm. We will have a fee of $5 per person to play the TEMP layout to raise funding for the Wheatland course installation (Tpads and signage). So bring $5 and play all day! State Park parking fees also apply...

Nope. First off the park doesn't open until 7am. We will not have the course ready on Oct 27th. We understand that the Zombie Bash is scheduled for that day. Mostlikely that tournament will take place on some temp. holes and some temp. tee pads. Along with some of the actual course. It depends on how much work gets done before then.

By request I have added Wheatland DGC & Western Oregon U.DGC to the D.O.R.C.s list of possible Venues to host this league. As usual changes to the schedule are by popular demand, but I have added Wheatland DGC to the sunday Sept. 29th schedule to welcome the course to the league rotation.

I appreciate wanting to use the Wheatland course to your schedule but it is not a compleated course at this time. PacWest has been working on it but not seeing by then. Better talk to Jason about possible opening day planned for. Maybe a miricle will happen in 18 days.

Adding Wheatland to the DORCs schedule is very cool!! Just a few things to consider: 1- the park doesn't open until 7, so not sure if that will be a problem. 2- there is no way the course will be open for play in 2 weeks. "Two Days in a row"? D.O.R.C.s can start before registration with enough time to finish, then register. EXAMPLE; 6:30 tee-time or 6am tee-time, however I think 7am is ok to finnish by 9am.

D.O.R.C.s Schedule

The D.O.R.C.s schedule is back on alphabetical order for now. As some local favorite events become scheduled I will likely move D.O.R.C.s to the same venue as the event without changing the rest of the schedule. In that case some D.O.R.C.s will be back to back weeks at the same venue.

D.O.R.C.s seldom venture far from Salem but when we do its an all day event. The D.O.R.C.s are playing the Newberg circuit this week, meeting for car pooling at Bush Pasture north parking lot at 6am. Please comment if you would like to join the group and have an empty seat or are looking for a ride.

After the April 28th Newberg Circuit D.O.R.C.s league the D.O.R.C.s schedule will return to alphabetical rotation.

Cascades, Corban Collage, Dallas City Park, Keizer Rapids, Oregon State Hospital, Woodmansee Park.

D.O.R.C.s traveling to Bryant and Newberg circuit

On April 7th at 8am the D.O.R.C.s will tee-off at Bryant park and on April 28th at 6am D.O.R.C.s will meet at Bush Pasture to car pool to the Newberg Circuit for an all day D.O.R.C.s event. Best total scores of the day on April 28th will be awarded a green star. DNF will NOT qualify for the green star.

This Sunday's D.O.R.C.s round is being moved to Corban Collage to allow for some of us time to get to the Work Party at Woodmansee. Tee-off at 7am at Corban (singles, doubles, Lone Wolf) ?who knows?

Next weeks D.O.R.C.s round scheduled for Bryant park is being rescheduled to a later date so we can start at 7:00am at this challenging and distant course.

Note; an alternate D.O.R.C.s round may be scheduled at a local course the same day.

As the sun is rising earlier we are adhering the start time to 7:30am for the next 3 weeks, then the start time will adjust again to 7:00am.

D.O.R.C.s puttin the "Fun" in FUNKY

On January 20th at Dallas City Park, Chain Gang is hosting an Ace Race. Registration is at 8am (early bird gets the ACE) and sun up that day is at 7:43am!

BEFORE the Ace Race at 6:30am the D.O.R.C.s will play it's FIRST ever "Glow Lone Wolf" round. Bring your glow discs and warm up with the D.O.R.C.s. I will be there at 6am with coffee and donuts for D.O.R.C.s, please consider sticking around for the Ace Race as it will likely be a FUN day of golf.
