About this league
Fee per round $5
In the absence of March Disc'n Madness for 2018, a new league in the honor of the aforementioned league will take place beginning March 31st and run through the end of April every Saturday at 11 AM. For any of you who have played March Madness, you know it is the easily the most fun and greatest league the NEO has ever experienced.
I will do my best to match the fun and wackiness that March Madness brought, and we will utilize course targets in a similar fashion, acting as "stroke erasers" or "stoke penalties" that will be on each hole scattered throughout the course. The format will remain the same, with a round of Reds to Shorts (Long Pin on hole 9), and be played as a par 56, with two holes (7 and 9) played as par 4s. I hope to mimic some of the mandos on the course that we've come to love (or hate), including the double double mando on hole 7, the pine alley mando on hole 10, and the over the creek mando on hole 11. Targets will be different, and you will see a few more negative targets out there than in the past, adding to the fun (or hate) of this league.
The league will act as a Points Series, with the League Champion to be paid out with either a custom trophy disc. Points can be earned each week by donating prizes for the post-round raffle, assisting in course set-up or take down (since this will have to be done weekly), and through league round finish. Additional points can be earned with 0s (target assisted Ace - 30 points) and Aces (natural - 25 points, target-assisted - 15). There will be some of the similar funsies Sharky included in March Madness, like CTP (hole 14), FMH (Farthest Metal Hit - hole 18), and FIB (First in Basket -hole 1), to add to the prize chances each week. All donated prizes will be raffled off each week using Bag Tags, and prizes can be anything anybody is interested in donating to the league, disc golf related or not.
Round's will begin at 11 AM each schedlued Saturday, with a $5 entry each week and a $1 ace fund. If no aces are hit at the end of each round, 50% of the ace fund payout will be decided via CTP, with the remaining 50% rolling over until the next week. At the end of the season, if no aces are hit, the Rolling Ace Pot will be then be thrown off for after the last league round, with winner taking all with a CTP. Mulligans will also be available, with 6 for $5, or $1 each (maxed at 6). Lowest mulligans used will also be used as a tie breaker for any ties that may occur. All proceeds raised from Mulligans will go to cover league supplies, including some target supplies, additional prizes, and the League Champion Trophy disc. All remaining funds will be donated to the Friends of Punderson group.
Each league round, the top 1-5 scores will be paid out each week, depending on turnout. If there is 4 or less, one spot will be paid. If there is 5-7, 2 spots will be paid. If there is 8-12, 3 places get paid. 13-15 players will payout the top 4. 16+ players will payout top 5. Payout scale is below:
1 payout -- 1st - 100%
2 payouts - 1st - 60%, 2nd - 40%
3 payouts -- 1st - 50%, 2nd - 30%, 3rd - 20%
4 payouts -- 1st - 45%, 2nd - 25%, 3rd - 20%, 4th - 10%
5 payouts -- 1st -- 40%, 2nd - 25%, 3rd, 20%, 4th - 10%, 5th - 5%
(payout amount is 100% of league entry fees for that league round)
Please keep in mind this is not March Madness. There will be different targets and use of the course. We will do our best to model the league in it's image, but things will not be exactly set up as in the past. You will see some new targets and target placement, and a lot of more chances to add strokes to your score. There will be 4 holes each week (may be different week to week), with negative targets in play that will be designated with the "Jester" image you see on the league page here. This will also be the image used on the Bag Tags. Most holes will have "Stroke Erasers," but the chance to hit both good and bad targets may exist on some holes. Sharky has been kind enough to donate the use of a good bit of his targets, so you will see some familiar items on the course. We will have both Wheels (holes 13 and 17), Spy vs Spy for the Double Double Mando (hole 7), and a few other that he has graciously lent me for the league.
So Please come out and have some fun at Punderson beginning March 31st. March Madness will live on, but for 2018, you will have to deal with it's bastard child.
