Get your money in for Davis Park this week! Also, there are only 20 or so folks who have renewed their ADGA Membership - if you want to pay the $8 rate and you haven't renewed, send me $38 and I'll get you signed up.
Thanks to everyone for coming out! We tied our Week 9 record with 24 folks. And congratulations to Scott Groves for getting our first and only ace of the league on hole 6!
Scott also tied for first in A Pool, matching Chad Rutledge's 10 under. Brian Cassidy nudged out Seth for third place with a 45.
Morgan Leeds took down B Pool with a very solid 47, despite two bogeys!
We had 183 total players this league, with a good number of days over 20 folks! Thanks to everyone for show ...

Let me know if you're coming! We have a good group already but let's try and set a record for league attendance!
Fyi, I got my wish and we're going to have record turnout! If you're coming in after about 10:40 or so, the main lot will probably be full. If you're coming to the Goon from 19th Ave, there's a parking lot there that people can use.
Now that I have payouts done, turn that money right back around to me if you're playing this week! I hear Boydo and Dan Allen (who doesn't suck despite what you hear from the Mad Biker) did a lot of work on the pads, so let's stomp some snow all over them! I mean...let's avoid walking on them unless we're throwing! But also let's have a good turnout and appreciate their hard work. I'll try to get out there tomorrow to do a final cleaning after the snow we' ... more
Wow, what a turnout for week 9! 24 players, the most this year so far. Although I didn't see any of you, so now I don't know what to think! Still no aces - if we can get good attendance this week, we might be up to $100 payout for an ace! Since one league is flowing into the next these days, the ace pool will just roll over to the second winter league, which will just start the next Saturday available (Feb 5).
Scott Groves took down A pool with a 50, grabbing a 2 on Hole 6 blue, on ...

Reminder for folks to get their money in - if you've been typically paying in cash, find someone who will be there on Saturday and have them pay on your behalf via Venmo or Paypal, since I won't be there. Also, I'm traveling so there's no guarantee I can take your payment and give you a hole assignment on Saturday morning. Make sure to let me know you're coming by Friday night!
One thing, since I won't be there, I believe PDGA live scoring lets you add and re ...

Great turnout for week 8 - I think the best all year, probably because temps were in the upper 20s rather than below zero like they have been. Still no aces! Ace pot is up to $148 (meaning you'd have gotten about $75 if you hit one this week).
Seth Asing smoked everyone in A Pool with a blazing-hot 13 under. I hear he was 7 for his first 7. What happened at the end there man? Just 6 of the last 11?
Dan Allen had the second-best overall score, and smoked B Pool by three strokes, with ...

FYI, it's probably going to be snowing a bit when we're out there - the teepads all have some slush on them, but it's not icy. I may clean off 3 and 4 tomorrow morning and get some salt down.
Let me know if you're coming! The earlier you get in, the more likely I can give you the starting hole of your choice. Looks like it'll be in the 20s with calm winds on Saturday! Great time to get out there and shoot 13 under! An ace will pay out $70 or more this week, so come on out and get one!
Hi folks, sorry it took a little longer to get payments out but they are out now.
If a tie is kissing your sister, a three-way tie is...yeah let's not go there. But both pools had three-way ties at the top this week! Clint Fournier came up from Homer to an unfamiliar course and shot the second-best round we've had at Davis this winter. Scott Groves and James Beckner tied him with 50s to split A Pool.
Dan Allen, Samm Peterson, and Oliver Salem all shot 4 strokes clear of t ...

I just put some salt down on the Blues that needed it, and Boyd is out there right now to clear it if the ice loosens up, but be prepared for a few of the teepads to be icy. Chill out on 6 Blue if you need to - don't kid yourself, you're not getting that 2 anyway.

All the tees should be pretty solid now, watch for moose using them as a salt lick though... : )
Time to sign up for this week! Hitting an ace this week will be worth $55 plus half of however many people sign up! Can't believe we're already on week 7. Civil twilight is back after 5pm...won't be long until we're popping into that store in Cooper Landing for a giant ice cream cone after a frustrating tournament in Nikiski.
I've heard the Wednesday night crew is headed out there to clear the teepads a bit, and I'll be out there tomorrow and Friday to make sure ...

Thanks to everyone for coming out on a blustery, hung-over day! The discs were going wherever they wanted. One guy on my card almost threw it into the road from hole 5's tee. Congratulations to Jeremy Lukas who won the JohnE McCray disc!
Joe Caissie and James Beckner both shot 50 to tie for the win in A Pool. Joe was the only bogey-free round on the day, while James overcame a double bogey on 4 with a barrage of 7 birdies to match.
Dan Allen grabbed B Pool, with the second-least bog ...

Hi - I was cold and the ratings were doing something weird that I wanted to check on back home, so I didn't give out the disc in person. But now from the warmth of my living room, it looks like JEREMY LUKAS is the winner of the signed JohnE McCray Saint Pro with a round 36 points better than his rating. Tough luck to Dan Allen who shot 32 over, and Bill Brooks who shot 30 over, and Robert Johnson who shot 29 over. I may have missed someone so if you think you shot a lot over your rating, le ... more
Let me know if you're coming! It's gonna be wild tomorrow! Remember, as a reward for coming out on New Year's, we have a JohnE McCray-signed Saint Pro for the person who shoots the most over their rating tomorrow!
Let me know if you're coming! In honor of Saturday being the first day of my eligibility for 40+ divisions (I'm not turning 40 yet, just how the PDGA rules work), I'm going to put up a SaintPro signed by everyone's favorite old disc golfer himself, JohnE McCray. Whoever shoots the most above their rating this week gets it! $93 in the ace pot too! It's gonna be great! Screw your hangover!
Thanks to the 8 people who came out this week, and a HUGE thanks to Rob Johnson, for juicing the payouts this week with $50, to reward the stalwart golfers coming out on Christmas! I'll see if I can get this league upgraded to an A-tier. Maybe National Tour event by next winter? I'm going to try and pay it forward next week; I'll throw in some gear in addition to the $5.50/pool member. Don't let that hangover keep you away!

Tee pads look great as long as the mad pisser doesn't strike again. Get your cash in!
Also, tomorrow: use spotters! The snow is hungry for discs. Also, big chunks of snow have been falling off trees, leaving holes in the snow that look just like entry points...so it's very frustrating to search. Why yes, I have looked for over an hour for two different discs in the last two days. (Right side of 4's fairway and off in the woods on the left on 6, in case anyone ends up searching in that area.)

I know some people like spending time with "their families" on "Christmas" but some of us consider the baskets and trees out at Davis Park to be our family. That cluster of birches in the middle of 4's fairway are my aunt's annoying kids. Let me know if you're coming! I've gotten at least one request from a dude who is visiting up here for Christmas and wanted to play a league round, so let's show him a good turnout.
Well, at least for the A and B pins we have in mind. The pin it's currently in will probably end up as a "C" pin position.
The red tees will definitely be done by Saturday (two left to do today prior to dubs) but I'm not sure I'll get to all the blues by then or not. I'm not 100% certain I'll be able to play league but hopefully we'll get to all of them before then.
I have tomorrow and Thursday off so assuming no more snow falls, I'll be able to get out there and clear the Blues.
Good times out at the 'goon! We had 20 players on a 20-degree day, with slushy teepads. Still no aces...starting either this week or next depending on turnout, the pot will start crawling over $50 (half of any amount over $100...right now it's a flat $50).
James Beckner dominated A Pool, with 11 birdies and a 1006-rated round. Osi Salem grabbed second, with birdies on half of the holes.
Oliver Salem took down B Pool, hitting last winter's bounty (no bounty this year, Olive ...

Let me know if you're coming! The sooner you sign up, the more likely it is that I can accommodate your hole assignment! (Also if you've already signed up, feel free to let me know if you have a starting hole preference.)
There's been some snow overnight, and there will be more snow tomorrow morning, so plan on the teepads being in poor condition. I haven't put any work into them this week - I may get out there today but no guarantees. But the air temperature should be a balmy 15-20 degrees!
Lot of excitement both on and off the field in week 3. 19 folks came out to play a round that started off above 10 degrees but slowly dropped as the afternoon went on.
Scott Groves threw a smoking-hot 48, which I think with this layout might be the best anyone has thrown. Between 4 and 8 being in long position, there aren't a ton of gimmie birdies on the course anymore at Davis. James Beckner took second in A Pool with a 50.
B Pool was absolutely adorable, with ties for first, third ...

As of about noon today, I had gone out and shoveled around most teeboxes - but of course there was a perfect 1/4 inch of snow that's fallen, so the pads need some sweeping. I'll have some brooms to send out with folks tomorrow in case I don't get to them. The snow is nice and loose and dry now, so we really want to avoid smashing it down into the concrete. See you all at 11!
We were behind you, swept all tees except 7 red and blue as there were two moose by the tees. We can get those in the morning
Reminder to let me know if you're coming!
Also, as Jeremy noted below, teepads are looking good - no salt needed! They could use a quick sweep with the bit of snow we got this morning (I did 1, 2, 3, 9 just now), and if you're headed out there in the next couple of days with an urge to help out, what they could all really use is a fresh shovel AROUND the pads. We try and keep the snow level below the pads all winter so that it doesn't spill/melt over onto the pad.
Payouts just went out for Week 2 - time to get your money in for Week 3! Looks like it will be ABOVE ZERO this week, so bust out the sunscreen and dri-fits. Not sure how the teepads are looking right now, but there's supposed to be more snow on Thursday and early Friday, so I'll be out there once it stops on Friday to give them a final cleaning.
We've been on them, but the snow keeps coming. They might need some ice melt as they were a bit greasy when we swept them last night. We'll see what things look like come Friday...
Yeah, I was afraid that little bout of above freezing temps might do that.
Swept the reds and two blues for dubs this evening, they were pretty solid. Shouldn't need melt : )
Good to see people out at Westchester yesterday, what with the temperature warming all the way up to 2 degrees by tee-off time!
Scott Groves took down A Pool with a smoking-hot 43, bogey-free. He birdied hole 3 both times, the only one in the field to do it at all other than Samm Peterson. I'm going to put myself on his card in two weeks to see how he does it. Osi Salem also threw down an extremely hot 44 to take second place.
Oliver Salem grabbed B Pool with a 48, and Samm gr ...

I have a big old bag of salt now, and I'm gonna throw it down liberally before we start tomorrow. I also just played a round and while the pads aren't beautiful and dry like at Davis, they're not too slick even without any fresh salt.
Let me know if you're coming Saturday! Just scraped the last bits of snow from last night off the teepads, but they're a bit slimy/slick still...don't expect them to be Davis-like!
Lots of fluffy snow out there, so let's remember to use spotters. I've found that running up and down the fairway is a great way to keep warm when it's below zero, too...which it may be on Saturday!
They're slimy because we had to use ice melt for Wednesday evening. Another application will probably be necessary for Saturday.
Welcome back to winter leagues, where I'm stuck inside and bored so I have time to write recaps! 14 hearty souls showed out for leagues this week, which according to my car thermometer started out at -7. The discs felt brittle in my hands. No one on my card lost or broke a disc, though! Anyone else have that misfortune?
Joe Caissie (cool guy with an awesome car) took down A Pool with an extremely efficient 56 - two birdies and two bogeys. Oliver Salem and Dan Allen tied for the win i ...

All the teepads are bone dry! Course should play great tomorrow.
Make sure to let me know if you're coming ASAP - hole assignments aren't finalized until Saturday morning, but you can check here to make sure you've signed up. If you have an assignment on holes 1-9, that means you've paid me. If you're on holes 10+, you've let me know you're coming but I haven't gotten your money yet. And if you're not assigned a hole, you haven't told me you're coming.
Hope to see a good crowd out there on Saturday at 11 - not gonna lie, it's looking COLD. Make sure to let me know if you're coming, so I have to do a minimum of futzing with my phone before the round. Early sign-up means priority for picking which hole to start on!
Also, if you're not yet an ADGA member, it's a great time to sign up - you get membership credit for the rest of the year, AND 2022. It's $40 for new members, $30 to renew - it gets you reduced entry fe ...

Hi, folks - I've had three people talk to me about the leagues today - which don't exist. If you were planning to show up at Davis (well, I'll be there but just for normal disc golf), there won't be a league there on Saturday morning for a few more weeks.
Also: 10:30 or 11 start time? Please throw your two cents in comments below. I picked 10:30 because I was thinking if we ended early enough, there could be dubs afterwards, but if it'll be easier for people to get up for the 11 start, I'll change it to that.
That's two votes for 11 and none for 10:30 (I am indifferent). Unless I get a GROUNDSWELL of three or more people telling me 10:30, we'll do 11.
Thanks again for running the league Joe!
