Final Week Results!

37 total players came out to the final week of the 2022 Deer Lakes League season this past Monday and we all managed to finish in daylight!

Shooting the hot round on the day was Brenden Reed with a -9, 57 to win the Open field somehow. Ryan Birchard took down Intermediate with a -8, 58 and also would have won Advanced as Jeff Coull shot the hot score there with a -7, 59. Shooting the hot round on the day was Brenden Reed with a -9, 57 to win the Open field somehow. Ryan Birchard took down Intermediate with a -8, 58 and also would have won Advanced as Jeff Coull shot the hot score there with a -7, 59. Molly Moore also shot a nice -7, 59 to win unopposed in Advanced Women. Stephen Filander eked out the win in Recreational with a -4, 62 while Savannah Filander bested Mary Ellen Moeller to snag the win in Recreational Women.

There were no aces on the day and the birdie pot remained intact this week, so those will carry over to next year. Adam Couture won the CTP on hole 8 for the MPO and MA1 divisions for $9 while Ryan Birchard won it for the other divisions for $26.

We are practically out of daylight, so please be sure to abide by the rule that all groups should be a 3-some if teeing after 4pm so that we can be sure that everyone finishes with at least a little daylight. Week 29 Results!

Battling darkness, the hot round on the day went to Dan Horwat and Chris Lachendro who each shot -12, 54s to tie for the win in the Advanced division. Bryan Schultz came out with the hot round in Intermediate with a -7, 59 while the Recreational division was in a sharing mood with three players tying for the win with -3, 63; Danial Fridley, Jeremy Leazier, and Stephen Filander. Battling darkness, the hot round on the day went to Dan Horwat and Chris Lachendro who each shot -12, 54s to tie for the win in the Advanced division. Bryan Schultz came out with the hot round in Intermediate with a -7, 59 while the Recreational division was in a sharing mood with three players tying for the win with -3, 63; Danial Fridley, Jeremy Leazier, and Stephen Filander. Savannah Filander racked up another win in the Recreational Women division this week against Mary Ellen Moeller and Eliza Morse.

I won the CTP for the Open/Advanced divisions with my 2nd shot on hole 1 for $4 with Brian Schultz winning the CTP for the Other divisions for an additional $15. There were no aces and the birdie pot stays intact for the league final, so an ace from the red tees will pay nicely.

Sorry. Got a little behind on the results. Two weeks ago, Brendan Reed came out and shot the hot round of the day on the first week back at the red tees with a -13, 61 to win the Open division. Jesse Kummer won Advanced with a -10, 64. Pete Paredes shot a -7, 67 which would have won the Intermediate division, but instead takes down Recreational and allows for Micah Beideman and Hank Lilienthal to tie for the win in Intermediate with -5, 69s. Sorry. Got a little behind on the results. Two weeks ago, Brendan Reed came out and shot the hot round of the day on the first week back at the red tees with a -13, 61 to win the Open division. Jesse Kummer won Advanced with a -10, 64. Pete Paredes shot a -7, 67 which would have won the Intermediate division, but instead takes down Recreational and allows for Micah Beideman and Hank Lilienthal to tie for the win in Intermediate with -5, 69s. In a heated battle in Recreational Women, Mary Ellen Moeller beat Savannah Filander and Lucy Bender by 1 stroke each to take down the win!

In addition to his win in Advanced, Jesse Kummer took home the Open/Advanced CTP on hole 7 for $8 while Chip Moon took home the Others CTP for $16. There were no aces on the day, but Ben Zebrasky birdied holes 4, 6, 10, 14, 17, and 17A to win the birdie pot from the Advanced division for $77!

Shooting the hot scores on the week were Brendan Reed and Jesse Kummer each shooting -8, 58s to win Open and Advanced respectively. Micah Beideman and Bryan Schultz each shot -3, 63s to tie for the win in Intermediate. Molly Moore was unopposed in Advanced Women and shot a hot -2, 64. Mike Anderson took home the win in the Recreational division with a +4, 70. Savannah Filander got the win by 4 strokes in Recreational Women over Mary Ellen Moeller this week.

No aces or albatrosses on the day and despite a couple of people hitting the birdie pot, none of them paid in for the pot, so it continues to grow. Garrett Talkington and Stephen Filander won the CTPs on hole 7 for $12 and $11 respectively.

Due to decreasing daylight, the final 3 weeks of league will be played from the red tees. How low will the scores go?

Week 26 Results

For the first time in Deer Lakes League history, Deer Lakes League hit the road and took the trip over to North Boundary Park to compete on the FPO layout for the upcoming Butler County Disc Golf Classic. 39 total players came out in damp conditions to take on Nobo, and judging from the scores, it looks like NoBo came out on top today.

No aces on the day and the birdie pot wasn't hit, so the pots continue to grow. Bill Randolph and Lenny Mancinelli hit the CTPs on hole 4 for $16 and $14 each.

Thanks to everyone who made the trek out today to play and especially to those who stuck around and helped with course work to prepare the course for the upcoming tournament.

Week 26 - Labor Day Special @ North Boundary!!!

For the first time in Deer Lakes League history, we will be travelling this week. We will be playing North Boundary on Monday and will be playing the FPO layout in advance of the Butler County Disc Golf Classic starting next Friday. The FPO layout is a mix of blue and white tees (and hole 1 gold), so please be sure that you are playing the correct tees. They are noted in the picture section here on DGScene as well as on the PDGA live scoring app used for league scoring.

After the round, stick around for burgers and dogs and then help get the course ready for BCDGC. On the docket for Monday is to paint OB lines on the gravel walking paths, get circle 1, circle 2, and bullseyes marked on the baskets, and get crowd control rope set up. It would be greatly appreciated if people could stick around. Lets see if anyone can beat the top women's scores!

After a quick spritz of rain 21 players took to the skies for Deer Lakes League this week. Brendan Reed shot the hot score on the week to take down the Open division with a -11, 55 for an unofficial 1013 rated round, his highest ever. Sam Wilson dominated the Advanced division with a -5, 61 while Hank Lilienthal took down Intermediate with a -1, 65. Keith Moquin eked out the win in Recreational with a +2, 68. Savannah Filander and Mary Ellen Moeller battled it out in Recreational Women with ... more

The Intermediate division saw a tie up top with Sean Adamski and Hank Lilienthal taking the win with -2, 64s. Michael McCormick got the win in Recreational with a +1, 67 while Molly Moore and Mary Ellen Moeller both played unopposed in Advanced Women and Recreational Women respectively.

There were no aces on the day and the birdie pot did not get hit so those pots are starting to refill after getting hit a bunch. Winning the CTPs on the 2nd shot on hole 6 were Vinny Montanari for $7 for Open/Adv. and Michael McCormick for $9 for the other divisions.

Shooting the hot score for the 6th time this year was Mark Fedorenko with a nice -11, 55 to win the Open division. Shooting the hot score for the 6th time this year was Mark Fedorenko with a nice -11, 55 to win the Open division. In keeping with Monday tradition, the Intermediate division bested the Advanced division as Bryan Schultz shot an unofficial 983 crushing his previous highest rated round by over 30 points and taking home the win with a -8, 58. Andrew Tischler won the Advanced division with a -3, 67 and Michael McCormick took down Recreational with an even 66. Molly Moore and Mary Ellen Moeller played unopposed in Advanced Women and Recreational Women respectively and therefore both walk away with the wins!

No aces on the day, but the birdie pot continues to get crushed as Simon Lantinga hit it this week birdieing holes 5, 11, and 15 to win $45. I'm going to make some changes to the birdie pot next year, so stay tuned at the end of the year!

Gerald Haynes won the CTP for the Open/Advanced divisions on hole 8 for an additional $8 while Bryan Schultz was clearly on point as he took down the CTP for the other divisions for another $16.

Be aware of a bunch of new pin locations. With the women's global event coming up soon, many of the pins have been moved. I've posted the pin locations in the comments section. I'm expecting some hot scores this week with the easier pins!

Session 2 Summary

We have now completed 20 league weeks (19 rounds played) and are officially 2/3 of the way through the season. The PDGA event report has been submitted and the rounds from the last 10 weeks will go onto your rating on August 9th.

Through the 20 weeks, we have had a total of 150 players play a grand total of 689 rounds for a weekly average of 36.3 players. Two people have perfect attendance through the 19 rounds played; myself and Chris Lachendro. The next closest attendees are Jeff Coull, ... more

At the 2/3 point, the points races are really heating up. Leading Open is myself over Chris Lachendro, but Mark Fedorenko is charging hard, and with only 6 rounds counted in his points, he is sure to overtake the leaders with some good play. In Advanced, Elias Fochler has a sizeable lead over Adam Couture while in Intermediate Micah Beideman holds the lead over Jeff Coull's Intermediate ghost and Sam Wilson. Dominating the Recreational division currently is Clayton Homa. Due to her commitment, Molly Moore is practically a shoe in in the Advanced Women division while Savannah Filander holds the lead over Mary Ellen Moeller in Recreational Women. Will there be any big shakeups in the last 1/3 of the season?

For transparency, the league is currently holding onto $2,770. League fees are currently at $295 which are used to pay for the Memorial Day and Labor Day cookouts. League credit accounts for $2,269 while the ace pot is at $157 and the birdie pot is at $49. I am holding onto $2,170 in my accounts while the PFD is holding onto a buffer of $600 in their PayPal account.

As an FYI, due to the new league session, the live scoring access code will switch back to Deer2022 for the remainder of the season. Good luck to everyone!

Week 20 Results!

Something must have been in the air this past Monday as 49 players scorched Deer Lakes with hot rounds all over the place. Shooting the highest rated round of the year so far was myself with an unofficially rated 1025, -13, 53 to take down the win in Open. Shooting his highest rated round ever was Elias Fochler who tied with Armani Morelli in Advanced shooting 981s, -8, 58s. Something must have been in the air this past Monday as 49 players scorched Deer Lakes with hot rounds all over the place. Shooting the highest rated round of the year so far was myself with an unofficially rated 1025, -13, 53 to take down the win in Open. Shooting his highest rated round ever was Elias Fochler who tied with Armani Morelli in Advanced shooting 981s, -8, 58s. The hot shooting didn't stop with the round totals as Bryan Schultz aced hole 11 for $236! Shockingly though, no one hit the birdie pot, so it gets a little break to build up. The CTP appears to have been misplaced on hole 4, but everyone played it the same so we'll just roll with it. Gerald Haynes won the CTP for Open/Adv for an extra $14 while Michael McCormick added to his haul with the Others CTP for an additional $23. Great shooting everyone!

29 total competitors came out on a steamy Monday evening to compete at Deer Lakes League this week. Shooting the hot scores were Chris Lachendro and Micah Beideman both shooting -8, 58s to win Open and Intermediate respectively. Elias Fochler and Jared Fechter tied for the win in Advanced with -5, 61s while Sam Fallon won Recreational with an even, 66. Savannah Filander took home the W in Recreational Women playing unopposed this week.

Independence Day Results!

27 total players came out on a balmy Independence Day to challenge Deer Lakes' Red, White, and Blue tees. Easily besting the field and taking down the Open division was Mark Fedorenko shooting a -11, 55. For the 2nd week in a row, the Intermediate division bested Advanced with Sam Wilson taking down Intermediate with a -5, 61 while Brad Sauder won Advanced with a -4, 62. A correctly from last week, I missed that Sean Adamski hit the birdie pot during week 16 by birdieing holes 4, 5, and 9 and won $66. This week, Sam Wilson snagged the birdie pot by getting holes 2, 5, and 18 for $37. Congratz to all!

We will be celebrating Independence Day this week with league on July 4th by playing a mixed tee round. Holes 1-6 will be played from the White tees. Holes 7-12 will be played from the Blue tees. And holes 13-18 will be played from the Red tees. With the holiday, I'll allow for cards to start teeing off at 1pm with the last card teeing off at 5:30pm like normal.

Shooting the hot round on the day was Josh Gibbons taking down the Open division with a -8, 58. Jesse Kummer won Advanced just two strokes behind Josh with a -6, 60. Molly Moore shot a nice -3, 63 playing unopposed in the Advanced Women division. Week 15 - White Tees - Last Tee 5:30pm!

We will play the normal 18 again this week. No extra letter holes. Please remember that if your tee shot on hole 15 goes out of bounds, you must throw your 3rd shot from the drop zone (red tee). All other OB shots are played as normal. If you do not wish to throw from the whites, you are allowed to take a two stroke penalty and throw directly from the drop zone throwing three.

Apparently everyone was in a sharing mood this week as there were tons of ties across the board as 44 players enjoyed a picture perfect evening this week at league.

Micah Beideman solo won Intermediate with a -6, 61 and Molly Moore and Savannah Filander each competed unopposed in Advanced Women and Recreational Women respectively. Taking down the Recreational division was a 5 (five!) way tie with +2, 69s shot by Robin Eng, Mike Anderson, Clayton Homa, Lucas Saunders, and Jeremy Leazier.

Winning the CTPs on hole 17 were Ben Zebrasky for the Open/Adv. CTP for $14 and Robin Eng for the Other CTP for $25. No aces or albatrosses on the day so the ace pot crosses over the $500 mark! The birdie pot on the other hand got hit by the father/son duo of Justin and Armani Morelli. Armani birdied holes 3, 4, 5, and 17A and Justin birdied holes 4, 5, and 17A to each win an extra $49!

It looks like we have plenty of daylight these days to push back the final card to a 5:30 start. Hopefully this will allow for a couple more people to show up who just can't quite make it at the earlier times.

Josh Gibbons won the Open/Advanced CTP on hole 2 for $24 while Bryan Schultz won the Others CTP for $15.

Following the cookout, 11 players stuck around for some Red, White, and Blue doubles with Chris Lachendro and Kasey Turner shooting the hot round with a -15, 52 to snag $15 each. The teams of myself and Josh Wertkin and Micah Beideman and Patrick Williams tied for 2nd place with -13 54, to each grab $6.25. Thanks to all who came out this Memorial Day. Week 11 Results

38 total players showed up this week to Deer Lakes League. Shooting the hot round for the week was myself with a scorching -14, 53 to take down the Open division. Jesse Kummer beat out the Advanced division on his way to the win in Intermediate with a -8, 59, while Elias Fochler was the beneficiary of Jusse's decision to play in Intermediate as he won Advanced with a -5, 62. Session 1 Results

It is hard to believe, but we are through 10 weeks of league and already at the 1/3 point of the season. Through 10 weeks (9 played) we have had a total of 95 players play 295 rounds for an average of 32.8 players per week. 26 total players came out to enjoy a pleasant evening before rushing to beat thunderstorms this past evening for the final week of the 1st session at Deer Lakes League. In a battle in the Open division which saw 25 birdies on the front 9 for the top 3 players, I came out on top shooting the hot white tee round of the year with a -14, 55. Dan Horwat won the 2nd shot CTP on hole 6 for the Open/Adv. divisions for $12 and Jeff Coull won it for the other divisions for $11 which slightly surprisingly didn't see any eagles. No aces or birdie pot hits, so the ace pot surpasses $400 again and the birdie pot continues to grow past $100.

39 total players came out on a picture perfect evening to battle Deer Lake's white tees. Shooting the hot round on the day coming out of the Advanced division was Adam Couture with a -8, 60. Up next was J. Gary Dropcho winning Open with a -7, 61 and Jeff Coull shooting a -4, 64 to take down the win in Intermediate. In order to build a welcoming community, if you are heading out early and only have three people on a card and there are people waiting around in the parking lot for a card, please invite folks on. I understand that people like to play in their groups of friends, but I want to be able to allow as many people to play league as possible. If folks just end up waiting in the parking lot for an hour or two while groups of three head out to play, they are less likely to come to league again.

A rainy evening welcomed 27 players to the first white tee round of the year. Shooting the hot round on the day was Sam Hockenberry with a -6, 62 taking down the Open division. Nobody put their name on the Others CTP, so I took the 10 people who pared the hole, put them in a random generator, ran it 4 times for hole 4, and Bryan Schultz was the lucky recipient of the CTP for an extra $12. In the future, if you have a bad drive on the CTP, don't put it way off out of the way. Just put it in the middle of the fairway, close to the distance that your drive landed so that other can move it when they beat it. Thanks!

Jeff Coull wasn't done raking in the cash though as he birdied holes 8, 9, 10, and 17C to grab even more dough winning the birdie pot. But wait, there were two others in Intermediate who also birdied the required holes as Jesse Kummer and Justin Morelli also birdied the required holes. The three of them will split $165.

We're not done handing out money though as Adam Couture snagged an ace off of a tree on hole 5. For his skillful shot, Adam grabs an extra $174! Congratulations to all on an eventful evening!

It was cold. But for some reason, 20 players still came out for this week's red tee round. Coming out of the Advanced division, Adam Couture shot the hot round on the day with a -11, 57. I shot the 2nd hot round of the day with a -10, 58 to win Open while Jeff Coull shot a -6, 62 to take down Intermediate. Hank Lilienthal smoked the Recreational division with a -5, 63 and Molly Moore won Advanced Women with a -2, 66.

The Open/Advanced CTP on hole 12 was won by Adam Couture for an additional $6 and Molly Moore won it for all other divisions for an additional $12. No aces or albatrosses on the day and the birdie pot wasn't hit by anyone, so both continue to grow!

Week 2 Results!

A grand total of 44 players showed up for week two to take on the red tees at Deer Lakes. Shooting the hot round from the open field coming in just shy of a 1000 rated round was Dan Horwat with a -16, 52. Elias Fochler won the Advanced division with a -12, 56 and Micah Beidman took down Intermediate with a -10, 58. No aces were hit on the day so the ace pot grows up to $379. One person did hit the birdie put, but, the decided it wasn't worth the dollar to get in, so the pot doesn't get paid out and instead grows to $120. Joe Hags won the CTP for the Open and Advanced divisions for an additional $13 and Sue Guiciardi won the CTP for all other divisions for an additional $29.

There were still cards finishing in the dark this week, so please be sure to play quickly this coming week to be sure that everyone finishes.

Week 1 Results!

On a beautiful evening for the first week of the 2022 season, 30 total people came out to see how low they could go on the red tees. Shooting the hot round on the day was a tie between Anson Reppermund who took down the Open division and Cam Weber who took down the Advanced division with -14, 54s. It was a heated battle in the Recreational Women's division as Mary Ellen Moeller just barely eked out Christine Sines by one stroke. Congratulations to all on the hot shooting the first week.

Winning the CTP on hole 17 was Pat Sylves for the Open/Adv. division for $9 and Jesse Kummer for the Other divisions for $16.

Quite possibly the best player ever to play at Deer Lakes, Jed Farber (his words, not mine. Slightly paraphrased...) hit the first ace of the year on Hole #4 with a zone to snag an extra $225 for his efforts. The ace pot now sits at $337. The birdie pot stayed intact and is now up to $83. Change of plans

Sorry for the change of plans, but the combined hole 17B and 17C will not be played. Instead, after hole 17A, we will play 17B and 17C as normal and will play a 19 hole, par 68 layout.

A reminder that you MUST keep score using the PDGA scoring website, pdga.com/score. The access code for the league is Deer2022 (I don't think it is cap sensitive).

The weather is looking like it is going to be pretty nice out for the first week minus the surefire mud due to melting snow. Can't wait to see everyone and get rid of this big ace pot!

To kick things off, we will be playing from the RED tees. This will help facilitate getting people through the course without running out of daylight. Reminder that you must tee off between 3:00pm and 5:00pm in a minimum group of 3. I would also request that if you are teeing off after 4:30 that you tee of in a group of 3 so that you ... more

League Renewed for 2022!

The official page for the 2022 Deer Lakes League season is up and running. First league day is less than two months away so you better be ready to go!

Two changes for this coming year:
1) I felt like the year ended a little early last year, so this year we are going to try to run this over 30 weeks instead of 20 weeks like we had done in the past. That means that league kicked off early this year starting on March 14th!
2) The CTP will now be split into two separate pools. There will be ... more

I was finding that Open and Advanced were often winning the CTP and it was a larger payout that winning your division which I wasn't a fan of. Hopefully this works out better.
