With the PFD board meeting on this Monday and the decreasing daylight, this past week was our final league night of the year. A huge thanks to everyone who came out this year. Can't wait to start it up again next year!
9 people showed up to the unofficial red tee handicap round this week and were smoked by Andrew Tischler who shot an adjusted 48 to beat the field by 2 strokes and took home $13. Tim Sladisky grabbed 2nd with an adjusted 50. For the 2nd week in a row, an ace on hole 12 could not result in a win for myself as I tied for 3rd with Matthew Horrell and Pat Graziani with adjusted 51s.
We are going to be playing another week of unofficial Deer Lakes league from the red tees with everyone in one division and handicapped scores based off of your average rating for the year. It will be $5 entry this week with tee off at 5:15. I have modified the handicaps slightly below from last week as shown below.
Aaron White - 15
Adam Couture - 5
Alphonse Borowski - 5
Andrew Greenslade - 4
Andrew Tischler - 4
Anthony Shank - 7

Mr. Robin White talked the talk and walked the walk, claiming that he had too much handicap and would easily take down the field. Well, his adjusted 45 (54 actual) was just barely enough to take down the win by one stroke over Curtis Spence. A four way tie ensued for the last cash with adjusted 48s. An ace from your fearless leader on hole 12 was not enough with the lowest scratch score of a 49 to take in the cash, but at least he took the lowest score on any of the holes.

There is still daylight left, so lets play some more disc golf. I'll calculate everyone's handicaps based off of their yearly average and we'll play a round from the red tees with everyone in the same division. $6 entry. 5:15 tee off.
Yup! As long as you have played one league round, you will have a handicap. Payouts will be based off of Am. payouts.
No. Official league play is complete. Last week was the finals. This is just unofficial play since we still have daylight.
This year we had a total of 373 rounds played as part of Deer Lakes League which is the exact same number as was played last year despite a couple of weeks of rain outs this year.
Firstly, I want to give a huge thanks to BJ and anyone who helped him for keeping the course in tip top shape throughout the year. Additionally, a huge thanks to him for coming out and moving pins every two weeks to keep the course fresh!
Secondly, a huge thanks to everyone who were able to do the live scoring f ...

After an evening of rain, the weather cleared up in time for the annual Labor Day league finals this past Monday and we saw 22 people come out to battle the blue tees. Taking down the Open division with the hot score on the day was myself with a 7 under 59. Andrew Greenslade snagged the win in Advanced with a 65 and for the 5th week in a row, Zach Guiciardi walked away with the win in Intermediate. Tim Rastetter took home $20 for his CTP on hole 2, but the big winner on the day was BJ Reiher ... more

Due to DGScene not counting points earned in different divisions differently and me incorrectly entering points from time to time, the points on the leader board are a little off. Below are the actual official* points heading into the league finals.
With one week left for the PDGA portion of league and that week scheduled for Labor Day, we will be playing seeded doubles this week from the white tees. People with the most points will be paired with people with the least points accrued throughout the season. Entry fees will be $5 with no additional ace pot, CTP, or birdie pots.
As if getting the league record once wasn't enough, one Mr. Jeremiah Libby came out and shot a smoking hot new league record of 50 from the white tees to smash the entire field and take home the title of best white tee player at Deer Lakes ever! Matthew Horrell just barely snuck out the win in Advanced with a 60, and Zach Guiciardi continued his domination of the Intermediate division grabbing his fourth win in a row with a 61.
Come on out for the penultimate official week of Deer Lakes League 2019! We will be playing the white tees teeing off at 5:15 as normal. Next week I will get all of the point totals and we will have a seeded doubles round for $5 (no ace pot/birdie pot/$$$ CTP) and then we will have the league finale on Labor Day at 10:00am and will play from the blue tees.
CTP Hole: 13 (2nd shot)
Ace/Albatross Pot: $112 (pays 60%)
Birdie+ Pot: $295 (pays 60%)

-Advanced: 2, 6, 8, 10
-Open: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11
A cool 13 people came out for Deer Lakes League last week and the scores continued to come in hot. Taking down the Open division was myself with another 55. Adam Couture and Brad Sauder battled to a tie in the Advanced field with 63s, Zach Guiciardi came out firing for the 3rd week in a row taking down the Intermediate division with a 62 which also would have been the top score in Advanced. Also congratz to Dustin Schrock for a sick throw-in on hole 13 for the 2!
5:15 tee off this week due to decreasing daylight. Please do not be late! Will the hot scores from last week continue for this week???
CTP Hole: 4

With great weather last week we had some super hot shooting taking down the wins. The battle for the Open division came down to a 20' death putt on hole 9 with Chris Lachendro tying myself with 55s. Andrew Greenslade snagged the win in Advanced shooting a 64 which was tied by Zach Guiciardi in the Intermediate division who took down the win by 9 strokes!
Due to decreasing daylight, we will be starting league at 5:15 for the remainder of the year. Please don't be late!

While the Open players battled it out last Monday and saw hot rounds of 60 from Chris Lachendro and BJ Reiher, it was Josh Gibbons shooting the best round of the week with a 59 in the Advanced division. Zach Guiciardi walked away with the win in Intermediate and Chris Lachendro added some more cash with his take-down of the CTP on hole 12.

Firstly, a huge thanks to Chris Lachnedro for running league during my absence. Secondly, congratz to BJ Reiher for his ace on Hole 2 which also took down the CTP on the hole! He should walk away with around $90 for the ace (I'll figure out the total amount once I get the sign-in sheet back tonight). The birdie pot lives on for another day.
Chris Lachendo got the league director bump for the night crushing the Open field with a 56. Jeff McCullough grabbed the win in Advanced with a 64, but Hunter Robbins shot better in the Intermediate field with a 63 to take down the win there.
During my absence this week, Chris Lachendro will be running league.

The only thing hotter than the temperatures last night were the scores across the league. Setting a new league record from the white tees with a 51 was Jeremiah Libby coming in at an unofficial 1027 rated round to take down the Open field. Shooting the highest rating in Advanced on the year was Andrew Greenslade win an unofficial 972 rated 57. And rounding out the winners on the week in the Intermediate division was Ben Zebriasky shooting a 66. Jeff McCullough walked away with $19 for his CT ... more

On a beautiful evening, Dan Horwatt came out and shot his best round of the year, getting his 2nd win of the year with a hot 56. Andrew Greenslade eked out the win in Advanced in a very tight field with a 60 while Dust Schrock beat down the Intermediate field with a 67. Jeremiah Libby walked away with an additional $15 for his CTP on hole 17.
As mentioned yesterday, the filming that was to take place in the park next week has been canceled; therefore, we are having league as normal next Monday. See you out there!
I am not sure we can play today as there is zero chance of rain in the forecast... I think we should risk it! If you showed up last week and paid, I'll just need you to check off that you are using that credit.

With just a few holes remaining, Mother Nature decided that we should be done disc golfing and opened up a deluge on rain, wind, and lightening on us. If you attended this week, I'll keep track of the money you put in and credit you next time you play. If you would like a refund, let me know and I can send it to you through paypal. Stupid rain.
This is my email for PayPal! [email redacted] I am going to try to make it to knob dubs tomorrow after work but we will see...
Lets get a round in before the rain hits. We're a go tonight.

For the 3rd straight week, we are looking to dodge thunderstorms for Monday league. Once again, I'll be studying the radar with all of my meteorological inexperience and will make the call around 1 PM. We will play in the rain, but league will be canceled and everyone will be refunded if thunderstorms are present in the area.
With the late call, league ended up being on last week and it rained. 8 people braved the conditions and got a free shower with myself shooting the hot round of a 57 in Open and grabbing the CTP on hole 7. Matthew Horrell eked out the win in Advanced with a 60 while Tim Sladisky continues his run in Intermediate with his 3rd straight win shooting a 70.
To avoid being called a big scaredy cat, I have been convinced to uncancel league this week. We are a go rain or shine.

Mother nature is not being kind to us recently. It looks like a strong possibility of thunderstorms again this evening, so I will again make the call as to whether league is on for this evening or not around 1pm.
With an 85% chance of thunderstorms at 5pm and a 100% chance of rain at 6pm, I am going to cancel league this week. Hope to see everyone out there next week under bright sunny conditions!
Looking at the forecast this evening, it looks like there is a strong possibility of thunderstorms around tee-off. I'll make the call before 1pm as to whether we will have league or not. Stay tuned!
On a beautiful late spring evening, 17 people came out to Deer Lakes league to get a nice warm-up in for the PFDO this weekend. I shot the hot round on the day, tying BJ from two weeks ago with a 1005 rated 55 to beat Cody and take down Open. Matthew Horrell snuck in the win in Advanced with a 64 and Tim Sladisky and Ryan Simpson shared the victory in Intermediate shooting 68s. Jimbo Jackson snagged the CTP on hole 4 and I won the CTP on the 2nd shot on 10 for a disc donated by Tim Sladisky.

With the soothing hum of the 2019 cicada brood in the background, a league record 42 players came out to battle the blue tees for league this week. Shooting hot scores in the open field were Cody Winget and Chris Lachendro with 61s. Mike Vasey eked out the win in advanced with a 68 and Tim Sladisky snagged his first win of the year in intermediate shooting a 73. Adam Couture came away as the big winner on the day getting the cash CTP on hole 5.

In case you haven't heard, the traditional Memorial Day blue tee round will be happening tomorrow at Deer Lakes! The weather looks fantastic and I am looking forward to getting an awesome turnout. Be sure to meet up after the round for free hot dogs, hamburgers, and adult pops! Afterwards, we'll have an additional $5 Red, White, and Blue Doubles round for those who stick around with partners chosen based off of their league round scores (highest score paired with lowest).

I lied. We'll check in in the parking lot like normal. Payouts will be in the pavilion though.
19 people came out this past week to battle blustery conditions, but this clearly didn't affect BJ Reiher as he obliterated the field by 6 strokes, shooting his first unofficial 1000 rated round with a 55 to take down the Open field. Jimbo Jackson grabbed the win in Advanced with a 62 and Zach Guiciardi continued his winning ways taking down Intermediate with a 65.
The big winner on the day though was Andrew Greenslade as he aced hole 2 with a Roc for $97! Great shot!

Next week will be our traditional Memorial Day league round. We will be teeing off at 10am and will be playing the BLUE tees. I'll bring along hot dogs and hamburgers for a cookout after the round and plan to do Red, White, and Blue doubles after the cookout for those sticking around.
17 people came out to Deer Lakes league last night and didn't get rained on as it held off nicely for us. Myself and Vinny Montanari shot the hot rounds on the day winning open with 58s. Jeff McCullough took down the Advanced division with a nice 64, and team Zach & Zak tied for the win in Intermediate shooting 65s, besting the rest of the competition by 4 strokes. Vinny walked away with the CTP on his 2nd shot on 18 to walk away with some extra dough.
By last night, I mean last week. Don't worry, you didn't miss a night.
It looks like the rain will be pushing out this afternoon and we will be clear for another Monday night. Hope to see everyone out there!

The PDGA is trying to roll out a live scoring web based app which will act as the official scorecard for the group and should help alleviate some of the work required by tournament and league directors. This application is currently in the beta stages, so the PDGA is looking for leagues to try it out and give feedback on the application and have contacted me to see if we could try it out. They are especially interested in how the app does in areas with little to no cell signal, so we are a per ... more
14 brave souls battled against the partly cloudy, 68 degree, windless evening at Deer Lakes this past weekend. Myself and Chris Lachendro tied for the hot scores of the day with 57s to share the win in the Open division. Andrew Greenslade edged out the win in Advanced, shooting a 61 and Zach Guiciardi continued his domination of the Intermediate division carding a 66. Mr. Nate Langer walked away with the CTP on hole 7 for $11.
With more daylight now, league start will be pushed back to 5:30 to allow for more people to attend.
It looks like there is the possibility of thunderstorms tonight, so stay tuned as to whether we are a go or not for this evening. As a reminder, we will play in rain; however, if lightening is in the area, league will be canceled and entry fees will be returned.

Rain and thunderstorms have been pushed back for tonight so we are definitely a go.
With the beautiful weather last Monday, we had a regular week league record 27 people come to bask in Deer Lakes warm glow. I shot the hot round this week eking out the win in Open with a 57. Ted Block and Matthew Horrell tied for the win in Advanced with 65s. For the 2nd week in a row, Zach Guiciardi won the Intermediate division with a 64 and would have won in the Advanced division again!
For the 2nd time in three weeks, the birdie pot was also hit as I birdied holes 6, 8, 10, 16, 17, and 18 for $118! The birdie pot now sits at $78 while the ace pot is at $96.
Also a big thanks to Chris Lachendro for taking signins and getting everyone off and running in my tardiness.
The weather this evening is looking picture perfect, so I am expecting some super hot scores coming in tonight!

On a chilly and blustery night, 17 folks came out to challenge the white tees at Deer Lakes and it looks like the white tees might have come out the victor judging by the scores. Winning Open was Matt Rosier and Jeremiah Libby shooting 62s. Taking down Advanced was Macky De shooting a 69. But besting the Advanced field, Zach Guiciardi shot a smoking hot 64 in the Intermediate division for his first unofficial 950+ rated round! BJ walked away with the CTP on the 2nd shot of hole one for an additional $15.
Moving on back to the white tees this evening where we will stay for most of the rest of the year. Due to daylight issues, we will still be teeing off at 5:15.

Congratulations to this week's winners. Dan Horwat used his ace to tie Chris Lachendro to win the Open division with 53s while Macky D used the birdie pot to shoot ...

Wow, it looks like it may be nearly 70° out for league this evening, so I am expecting a great turnout! There is a possibility of rain, but as a reminder, we will play rain or shine. If there is lightening and thunder however, the round will be canceled and everyone will be refunded their money. Who's going to be the one to hit the big birdie pot?

With the first league night of the 2019 season, we saw a record high number of people come out for opening night with 24 golfers braving the chilly, but sunny conditions. 12 people came out for the pre-league warm-up last week with two teams tying for the win with eighteen unders from the red tees. Zach Schweitzer and Dustin Schrock and Jimbo Jackson and Cody Winget brought home the bacon for the win. BJ and Anthony snagged the CTP on hole 2. In typical fashion, I win the award for worst timing of an ace with an ace on hole 4. Don't worry though, the ace pot wasn't in effect, so you can still hit it tomorrow!

Er. Cody and Jimbo were witnesses to the hot round? I don't have the scorecards with me...
It's just about time for the 2019 season to start with the first week of league scheduled for April 1st! We only have about 2.5 hours worth of daylight, so please be sure to play quickly so that we do not run out of daylight.
This year, there will be only one small change to the rules for the birdie pot. Since the intermediat ...
