We're winding down, but it's not over yet.

There are five rounds left in this year's doubles league and only four chances for someone to take home $150 for an ace before it's put up as the winner-take-all prize for the final round. Come on out, and take your whacks at it.

T-storms possible tonight.

There is a chance for thunderstorms tonight at doubles league. We will plan to play at the normal time, keeping in mind that none of us are made of sugar and are unlikely to melt in the water. Please be signed up by 6:20 PM, and bring smallish bills if you remember. Thanks.

Severe weather possible for June 22

There's a threat of severe weather tomorrow. I plan to be at the course at the usual time, and we will see what happens.

June 15 format is:

6 best, 6 tough, 6 combined score format.

All holes will be played from the white tees, and the rules for players without partners will remain unchanged throughout the round.

Holes 1 through 6 will be played as best shot doubles, like we usually do.

Holes 7 through 12 will be played as tough shot doubles. In Tough Shot, both players throw from each lie (starting with the tee shot), then the competing teams in the group choose which of the subsequent lies will be used, with the aim of ma ... more

Holes 7 through 12 will be played as tough shot doubles. In Tough Shot, both players throw from each lie (starting with the tee shot), then the competing teams in the group choose which of the subsequent lies will be used, with the aim of making the hole as difficult as possible. The hole is completed once one team member has holed out from a lie.

For holes 13 through 18, each player will compete as a single, with the team taking the better of the two partners' scores for the hole.

In two weeks, June 15, we will break from our usual format. I'm leaning toward a mix of 6 holes of best shot, 6 of tough shot, and 6 of a combined score. I will finalize the plan this week and announce something concrete next week.

Notes for May 18

If you've been following along, you'll know we've been toying with some additional holes for the course. Tonight, we're going to keep Hole A the same, but Hole B will play different. Hole B will start after 18 near the restrooms near the Imagination Station playground and finish in the middle of the mature trees south of there. It's about 275 feet from tee to basket, so nothing too terrible. The basket placement should ring a bell if you played the CMN tournament last year. Please help us test out this idea.

Star Wars Day Results

Opening night for the 2016 cash doubles league was chilly and wet from earlier rains, but nothing new fell while we were out. It was good to see everyone who showed up. Scores and payouts were as follows:

Notes for tonight's opening round of cash doubles in Bryan

1. It's $5 to play and another $10 if you want in on the ace pool. Please bring small bills. It really helps.
2. The course will be wet whether it rains this evening or not. Please plan accordingly.
3. Be signed in by 6:20 PM or contact me by phone, (419)-344-1655, to let me know you're on the way. You will not be included in the draw if I don't hear from you.
4. We're playing the regular 18 holes. We'll add the two extras for another round.

One more thing...

One more announcement concerning doubles league. We've been play-testing two holes we're trying to get added to the course. We are planning to have these in play for the first night this Wednesday. They are a couple shortish holes between 15 and 16. Both have a mandatory line, which is to discourage unsafe shot choices.

I have a few things to announce about our Wednesday night doubles league. First, we will play a couple alternate formats during the 16 week run of the doubles league. One will be a round from the red tees, and the other will be announced at a later date.

Second, I am amending the rules for sudden death playoffs. All of the players involved in a playoff must be present, or the prize will be split.

Last, you must be signed in by 6:20 PM or have contacted myself or another player to let someone know you're on your way, or you will not be included in the round.

I added everyone who played in the 2015 league to this one. If you don't want to be included, please reply here saying so, and I will remove you. I can't wait to see everyone out at Rec Park again.
