2013 DFOK SPRING Points League

"Last night of the league's last season of the year, and the weather was somewhat windy, sometimes rainy, and always threatening (though it didn't rain much until our last hole). We started on #1, and I was playing pretty solid, boring golf, but missed a number of putts I should have made (#2, #7, #9, #6), and had one disastrous hole: #4, where my Buzzz flipped and flew 25' into the thickest woods right of the short basket (we were playing to the long/left basket). It took me two shots to get out, and three more to find the basket. The only birdie I made was on 25-30' uphill putt about four times harder than the putt I missed for birdie the first time I played #2. Not a great way to end the year, but I was glad I played and that we were able to finish the round."

"We started on #3, and it was a very steady, unspectacular round. Got my birdies on the short holes, and left a few out there as well (#6 first time, short #9, #4 second time). Worst shot was a drive way right into the treeline on long #9. Best shots were the two that followed: a midrange anhyzer that made it just around the corner, and a long putt to save par. Most shots were just sort of okay. Biggest disappointment was ending on #2 with my only bogey; I hit a tree soon off the tee, but landed in the fairway and should have saved a par."

"My group started on #1, this cold, rainy day. I didn't play great, but would have scored pretty well if not for all the short putts I missed for par -- on #2, #6, and #9. I also blew a short and relatively easy approach on #5, which cost me another bogey. #1 and #2 on the second nine were just disasters from the moment the drives left my hand. Highlights were a fairly long uphill putt for birdie on #7 (first time), and a drive on #7 (second time) that skidded into the pipe and stopped next to the basket."

"This was a really frustrating round. I wasn't throwing that badly, but was just a little off with everything: drives, approaches, putting. My group started on #1 and things just got a little worse as I went along. No birdies, no good putts, just a lot of mediocre holes interspersed with some really dumb mistakes."
