We had 35 players come out to the 2021-2022 Fall Winter Season Finale this week! It was a great way to end the season with good winter golf conditions. Cold temps but partially thawed grounds allowed us to walk, throw & putt safely. We played a White - Red layout & were able to play all of the pads. Thank you to Richard Thelen for putting in some hard work on hole 7 to help water drain away from the pads.

Shooting -16 by himself (Cali), Corey Selig took first cash, which only helped push his leaderboard domination even higher. Corey had an impressive 19 rounds played this season & has taken a well deserved 1st place finish with 522 points overall. Congratulations!!

Second thru last cashing spots were split evenly by five teams who all shot -13 scores. Those teams included Chilson/Herron, Taint/Ms. Vick, Thelen/Buchanan, Chapman/Frame & Brayton/Bottorff.

Since there was no ace hit during the last round, we had a CTP ace pool throw off from 1 Red with two cashing spots. Krumm took first cash for $90 & Buchanan got second cash for $28. We will start the Spring/Summer season with $118 in the pot!

We are planning on taking a 3 week break before starting the 2022 Spring/Summer season, with the first round being held on Wednesday, April 6th. Please keep an eye out for updates on Disc Golf Scene.

WC Glow wants to thank everyone who made this a successful Fall/Winter season! We saw some of the highest player turnouts compared to Fall/Winter seasons in the past few years & had nearly 90 different players come out for at least one round with us. We’re really looking forward to seeing familiar & new faces with warmer temperatures in the Spring/Summer season.

Bandemer is finally thawing out some, at least enough to make walking & putting a little less dangerous. The weather started off mild but temperatures dropped quickly during the round & we had some light rain that turned into freezing rain/snow during the last few holes.

Taking first cash with the top score of the night was a -13 shot by Chapman/Buchanan that included an ACE on Hole 2 from the Red pad by Neil. Congrats!! Neil walked with $169 & received 30 additional bonus league points.

There was a 3-way tie for second, third & last cash between Sprow/Krumm, Celig/Walleth & Chilson/Wiedenfeld, all with -12 scores. A disc flip decided that Sprow/Krumm would walk with the majority of the cash.

22 people came out to the Bandemer Skate Rink this past Wednesday to play a round of Red - White pads. We played White pads for both rounds on hole 7 due to the Red pad being under a couple inches of ice. Conditions were pretty rough between the fairways being sheets of ice, low 20º temps & some mild wind. Luckily the pads were clean & dry, besides 7 Red.

Top score on the night was -14 from Cavender/Rivamonte which took first cash. Second & third cash went to Clark/Selig & Common/M. Magner. who both shot -12 scores. A disc flip decided that Clark/Selig would walk with the majority of the payout. Last cash went to Buchanan/Bottorff with a -10 score.

Bandemer was 80% covered in ice, some snow & water on Wednesday night. Luckily the pads were clean excluding 7 Red, which was under about 2” of water. 17 players came out to play a White - Red layout, but we played 7 White both rounds due to the water. There was a tie for first & second cashing spots between Selig (Cali) & Common/Bottorff with -13 scores. Last cash went to Sprow/Krumm with a -11 score.

We did not do CTPs for this round because there was no way the stakes were going into the ice surrounding the baskets. We did $7 all-in entrance fee since there were no CTPs, but we’re planning on doing something to make it up during next weeks round.

We’ll be at Bandemer again for our upcoming round on Feb. 23. Hopefully the conditions will be better… but I’m not holding my breath. Have a fun & safe weekend!

Shooting a PERFECT ROUND with a -18 score & taking first cash was Dietrich/Fitins. Excellent shooting guys! A tie for second & third cash with -16 scores was Chapman/Jopps & Selig/Chilson. There was a 3-way tie for fourth, fifth & final cash with -15 score. Krumm/Herron, Sprow/Armstrong & Howard/Pilon made a disc flip decision that result in Krumm/Herron walking with the majority of the cash.

Hey everyone:

I am going to cancel league for this week. A LOT of snow coming our way and there are a number of you who drive a decent distance to get to Ann Arbor each week. No need for any of us to risk having an unfortunate accident or issue while out driving. I really don't like having to say "stay home" but I think this is a good choice.

Enjoy the night at home, treat yourself to something nice, or perhaps just take a welcomed nap (I personally endorse this option).

Be safe driving around the next few days and don't take risks out there.

We have a large storm system on the way and while it is not here yet and potentially can change, I want to at least get this on your radar for this week. Predictions vary on the amount of snow, but looks like it could be a mess either way.

I am considering canceling league this week so that everyone can be as safe as possible in their travels. NO FORMAL DECISION JUST YET as I would like to wait until we get a better idea tomorrow night, or even Wednesday morning.

If you have any feedback, I welcome it. Just want to be thinking of what is best for everyone and to try and help with driving safety.

We played a round of Red + Red pads to make the conditions a little more tolerable & make the night go a little faster. Chilson/Frame took first cash with a -15 score! There was a 4-way tie for second & last cash between Sprow/Herron, Arnet/Selig, Ritchey/M. Magner & Plantz/Watts, all with -14 scores. Discs were flipped & money was split up accordingly.

We played a WR + RW alternating pad layout which lead to tie for first & second cash. Brayton/Chilson & Sprow/Buchanan shot -14 scores & split the cash evenly. There was also a tie for third & fourth cash between Perras/Thelen & Herron/Armstrong with -13 scores.

Russel Taint hit an ace last night on hole 3 from the red pads. Adding $81 to his pocket & 30 points to his league score! Great shooting Russ!

BURRRRRRR! It was a frigid night for disc golf this past Wednesday. We had temps in the low teens with negative feels like temps. There was also a few inches of accumulated snow on the ground along with 15-20mph winds. We decided to play a Red-Red layout at Bandemer to make it a faster round. There was still 17 people brave enough to come throw in those conditions & Common/Perras powered through, shooting a -15 score, which took first cash! Nice work guys. There was a 3-way tie for second & third cash between Ritchey/Buchanan, Sprow/Plantz & Krumm/Jopps with -13 scores. A disc flip decision decided that Ritchey/Buchanan would take home the extra $10.

We had 28 players come out to play a round of RW + WR tee pads at Bandemer this week. Since both pads on Hole 7 were surrounded by water, we played an alternate tee which played from 8 Blue to 7s basket. Temperatures fell below freezing on a relatively wet & muddy course, but those conditions didn’t seem to matter with Trombley/Thelen shooting a -15 & taking first cash. Second, third & fourth cash were taken by Ballios/Selig, Crouch/Walker & Common/Tschirhart, all shooting -14 scores. A throw off from 1 Blue lead to Ballios/Selig taking the majority of the cash payout.

Thelen also nailed another ace (2nd week in a row), this time on Hole 3 from Reds. Taking home a $73 payout & adding another 30 points to his league standings!

Hot score for the night, taking first cash & first pick of the Holiday Disc Exchange was Macdonald/Buchanan with a -14 score. Second cash went to Plantz/DesJardins who shot a -13. Third cash went to Perras/Dietrich with a -12 score. There was a tie for last cash with -11 scores between Sprow/Taint & Jopps/Brayton. A disc flip decided that Sprow/Taint would walk with the cash.

Holiday Disc Exchange Fun

You have the opportunity to participate in the Secret Santa disc exchange at this week's league (Wednesday Dec 22nd). Completely optional.

Bring a item, choose an item:

Bring a new disc golf related item approximately a $15-20 value (typical new disc value is around $15)....wrapped/bagged of course. Discs should be new, non-inked, and unthrown. Other items are welcome as well (such as towels, chalk bags, minis, shirts, etc).

If you do not have something on hand, I will have club inventory on hand if you wanted to purchase something and participate.

We will play our league round and then at the conclusion, gifts will be selected. My initial thought was winning scores from the round will have first choice at the "gifts" that were brought (assuming that they participated and brought one themselves). If there are other ideas about how to make that happen, please message me to share your thoughts.

2nd place will go next, and so on until all gifts have been selected. We have done this for the past few years and I think things have gone well. In addition to that, who does not like getting some new disc golf gear?

I mentioned this to a few of you this week, so consider this a more formal announcement to the group as a whole. Bring any used (preferably not abused discs) to league and donate to support this cause. If that was not reason enough, Tommy dropped off a new backpack style bag. Perhaps we could raffle this off to support the efforts....or maybe raffle it among those that donate discs. Plenty of options....but the point remains the same, to help support the growth of disc golf abroad.

Due to warming temperatures and some rain, we saw a WET and muddy course for league this week. We played Long odd, Short Evens on the night and had 29 players in attendance. Hot score on the evening was a -16 by Selig/Jopps. Their hot round was followed with a -14 by Herron/Tschirhart, -13 by Ritchey/Thelen, and a -12 by Fittins/Perras.

There was a 5-way tie that took all of the cashing spots (1st-4th). Selig/Kerns, Chilson/Common, Trombley/Sprow, Milewski (Cali) & Thelen/Taint all shot -13 scores. There was a throw off from 1 Blue to determine how the cash was split up.

We tested a new layout at MBD this past Wednesday. Thinking that it may be an option during the harsh winter months if we still want to play Mary Beth. First round was all short pads on holes 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, & 18. Second round was long pads on the same holes including Alternate hole 1 (sidewalk to 1’s basket), Long hole 3 (2’s pad to 3’s basket) & Long hole 14 (14’s pad to 17’s basket).

This layout resulted in a hot score of -16 from Binienda/Common! Killer shooting guys! Second, third & fourth cash was taken by 3 teams who all tied with -15 scores. Sprow/Chilson, Selig/Montville & Trombley/Johnson decided to split the cash evenly.

Jen Trombley hit an ace on Hole 1 to break her near 3 year long ace dry spell! Woohooo!! Congrats Jen! She took home $63 + 30 league bonus points.

We had a rather ideal night for disc golf at Mary Beth Doyle this Wednesday night. It was decently cold with muddy conditions on some holes with a bit of frozen mix in the last half of the round. Shooting -15 & taking first cash was Brayton/Common. There was a tie for second & third cash between Jones/Chilson & Jopps/Fitins, both shooting -14. There was a 4-way tie between Trombley/Dietrich, Herron/Sprow, Krumm/Magner & Thelen (Cali), all shooting -13 scores. Discs were flipped for the cash, Trombley/Dietrich & Herron/Sprow walked away with it.

Congrats to Drew Herron on ringing one up on Hole 12 from Shorts. Witnessed it myself & it was a great shot! He picked up $68 + 30 league points.

27 shooters came out to play a round of WBR + RWB pads at Bandemer. We had a cool, cloudy & misty evening that lead to a hot score of -12 shot by Fifer as Cali, taking first cash! Nice shooting Danny! Second cash went to Brayton/Arnet with a -11 score. There was a 3-way tie for the last two cash spots between Taint/Armstrong, Selig/Trombley & Sprow/Fitins, all teams shooting -10. A disc flip decision decided that Taint/Armstrong would take the cash.

TWO aces were hit on Wednesday night! Joe Arnet hit hole 4 from the Red pad & Danny Fifer hit hole 5 from White. Both take home $38 dollars + bonus league points! Nice work guys!

We had a cool & dark evening with spots of light rain through the night this past Wednesday at Bandemer. 35 players came out to throw a round of R3, B3, W3 + B3, W3, R3 pads that lead to a tie for first & second cash. Herron/Common & Selig/Taint both shot -14 scores on the night. There was also a tie for third & fourth cashing spots with -13 scores from Smart/DesJardins & Brayton/McCormick. Fifth cash went to Sprow/Evans with a -11 score & the last cashing spot went to Chilson/T. Magner with a -10 score.

Shane Brayton threw in an ace on Hole 2 from the Red pad to take home $99 cash & added 30 bonus points to his league standings. Great shot Donkey!

Near perfect conditions lead to a near perfect round from Crouch/Brayton, shooting fire with a -17 score. Nice work guys! There was a tie for second & third cash with -15 scores from Common/Taint & Sprow/Pilon. Fourth & last cash went to Selig/Watts & Fifer/Smart, both shooting -14.

It was a cool & relatively calm night for disc golf last night. Temps were mild with heavy humidity & some mist/fog towards the end of the night.

27 players came out to Mary Beth Doyle to play a round of Long Odd, Short Even + Alternate Hole 3, which was played from Hole 2’s pad to 3’s basket. Hot score for the evening & taking first cash was Brayton/Selig with a -15. Second cash went to Crouch/Watts with a -14 score. Thelen/Fifer & Frame/Binienda tied with -13 scores to take the third & fourth cashing spots.

It was a perfect fall evening for glow disc golf! Cool temps with no wind & very dark even with the clear skies. We played a RWB + BRW layout at Bandemer which lead to a hot score of -10 from Brayton/Chilson, taking first cash. A tie for second & third cash between Trombley/Selig & Wiedenfeld/Thelen with -9 scores. Also a tie for last cash between Ritchey/Frame & Crouch/Cook. A disc flip decision decided Ritchey/Frame got the cash.

What a way to kick of the Fall/Winter 2021-2022 season. We had rain drizzle & mist along with high winds during the entire round. We decided to play a Red - Red layout to make it a little quicker evening for the 13 people who came out to play because of the poor weather.

Taking first cash with a scorching -17 score was Sprow/Cook! Nice shooting guys! Second cash went to Walker/Common with a -15 score & last cash went to Smart/M. Magner with a -14 score.

Tommy Magner walked away with a fat $12 for acing Hole 5, but also got 30 bonus league points which puts him in 1st place. Excellent way to start the season!

OK, the day we have waited for. League is scheduled to start this evening.

We have poor weather conditions to start out. Course will be wet, likely standing water in some areas. Please be prepared.

It is supposed the rain much of the day. Right now, that looks like all that we have coming our way. If conditions are dangerous (lightning and such) we will need to cancel to keep everyone safe.

As of this moment, I expect to be able to play the round this evening. If we will cancel, another post will be made here and aim to make that determination by 4 or 5pm this afternoon.
