Hi - I'm planning to keep this league going, with another Tuesday sanctioned singles, probably starting next week. Ace Pot, which was not hit this league, will carry over to this league.

Here are the changes:

No Alcantra or Girdwood rounds - those saw sparse attendance and even I had some trouble getting out for them. Too much travel for a Tuesday night. League will by default alternate between Peter's Creek and Davis.

May cycle in a Kincaid round - we didn't have huge attendance numbers on any week, so that makes me think we can get a round in at Kincaid without it taking 4 hours.

Finally, we're going back to a non-handicap league. During the summer, there's too much nice weather for me to sit in front of a spreadsheet and figure out who won. I'll post more details on the actual league page, but it'll be three pools, basically sub-800, 800-900, and 900+ ratings. We'll still do payouts afterwards, but this will help people see whether they won their pool or not sooner, without having to wait for me to do the spreadsheet.

But seriously, smaller turnout this week - and a pretty compressed field of scores. Marshall and Andrew tied for first in A Pool, and Kristin took B Pool running away. The real winners were the mosquitoes, who feasted on my bare legs all evening.

Hi, folks - will be getting last week's weighted scores up and payouts soon. Just a reminder that we'll be at Alcantra this week (Tuesday) - those lines will seem downright fair to those of us who played at Meier Lake this weekend. Also, league dues this week will be supporting MSDGA, so valley folks, come on out! Ace pot is now over $100, and there are lots of aces to be had at Alcan, so let's get a big turnout!

As always with these longer distance locales, we'll be starting at 6:45, and if you need to show up a little later, just let me know and we'll have one card go out at 7 or 7:15.

Andrew Rodgers took down A Pool with a 58 raw score, shooting even on the front 9, and keeping the back damage to a minimum. Will Graham edged me out both score and adjusted-scorewise for second.

Kristin White continued her dominance of the handicap league with a very nice 69. Enjoy the victories because that rating isn't going to stay at 750 for long at this rate!

We'll be at Girdwood next week - probably starting around 6:45, and since we're not loading up the course, I think it would be fine for a group to start at 7:00 if some of you are going to have trouble making it down there in time. Ace pot is now up to $90!

Hi folks - I apologize for the cluster that Week 4 turned into. I was unexpectedly pulled away so I couldn't be there in person, and then even my plans to manage the league remotely were waylaid. We still got 10 people out, and I hope you all had fun. I'll try and make the recap full of puns in order to make up for this.

Marshal Morris didn't blow his one shot - he captured it by shooting a 49 and taking down A Pool. Tom Voight would have been The Champ in a non-handicap league but Coming Home to play at Alcantra still Delivered him a second-place finish.

Kristin White powered her way to a B-pool victory with a 58. Weslee "Super Flower Blood" Moon put an exclamation point, not a period, on his round to finish second in B-pool.

I'm going to have to sort out the cash once I get back on Monday - payouts for Week 3 should have all gone out by now...but what you WILL be getting when I get back is up.

Please let me know early if you're coming to week 5 at Peter's Creek! I'd much rather you sign up and then let me know an hour beforehand that you're not coming, than not sign up and tell me an hour beforehand that you ARE coming. Just 14 folks came out to Girdwood this week - would have liked to see more, but turns out that the 2.5-hour return trip means the ones who didn't come out were the smart ones, apparently.

Adam Cooper took down A pool with a very solid 50. Aaron Ressler justified his high rating with a league-best 47, and finished in the cash.

Irvin Godina shot well above his rating, and took down B Pool with a solid 51, and Hunter continued his hot play to take second with a 50. Next ratings update your handicap is going up, Hunter!

Next week is in the other direction, up at Alcan! As with this week, let me know if you're going to be late or have trouble making it in time. I think we can start a group later if necessary - we have plenty of daylight and the rounds are being played quickly.

Great weather and great disc golf on a much-more-difficult Peter's Creek last night! 20 folks made it out.

Justin Dunker just annihilated the course and the rest of the field with a 48, 5 strokes better than anyone else. That was also enough to pick up the handicap adjusted win in A Pool as well. Hunter Thompson also shot a really hot round that would have won almost any other week, but was good for second.

Kristin White absolutely destroyed her rating with a very solid 59, coming in with the lowest handicap score I've ever seen, less than 43. She took down B pool with that, of course.

Off the top, everyone let me know if you're coming out to week 2 - we'll be at Peter's Creek. Be there and in the parking lot by 6:15 so we can draw hole assignments. Just a reminder of how the pools are done, I split the pools into the top half of the ratings and the bottom half. Then within each pool, the handicapped scores are calculated and compared. If you're between like 860-900 in rating, you'll probably end up floating between the two different pools depending on who shows up that week.

Week 1 went great - 16 folks came out for week 1 of the league. The baskets were all in new positions, so the course played really tough - no easy birdies anymore! Jake, Robinson, and I shot the hot rounds with 54s, and Robinson took A pool because of his slightly better handicap. Tyler Pohler crushed his rating and took down B pool with a raw score of 67, but an adjusted score of 46.9. Payouts will go out some time this weekend likely - if you paid me in cash, I might have to track someone else down with a Venmo or a Paypal in order to pay you.

Since no rated rounds have been played in the pin positions on Peter's Creek, I'm going to start with 12 points per stroke, but I reserve the right to adjust that depending on how people shoot. You can see how that works in the second tab of that spreadsheet - I graph everyone's adjusted scores versus rating, and I change the Points Per Stroke. When the regression line gets to flat, that means that I have the Points Per Stroke right, so that on average having a higher or a lower rating isn't an advantage. Sometimes I exclude outliers - this week since there were only 16 people and Tyler and Kristin (who have ratings on the lower end) shot pretty great rounds, if I were using this week's data, I'd think about excluding them because not removing them would imply about 17 Points Per Stroke is appropriate. Sometimes people just shoot hot! So, probably doing 12 Points Per Stroke for PC this week. And if you look at that sheet, if your rating isn't in red or yellow, that's the rating you're going to have until the next ratings update.

The second tab is me testing the Points Per Stroke (PPS) on the handicaps - I will not change things retroactively, so since I said 12 PPS for this week, that's what it is. But with a very small sample size (and two outlier ratings shooting very solid rounds - good job folks), it looks like the current layout of Davis Park is 16.75 PPS, to make things fair across all ratings. I won't be updating the PPS for Davis dramatically unless we get more rounds like this.
