Sunnybrook Indoor Putting League is over. I will post the results in the News section either from or after Bowling Green.

Thank you to everyone for showing up, Bernie, Mike Henry, Brandon Butler, and Shawn for helping align the pools every week, and to Shawn for creating our Excel score sheet. Many people tell me how cool it is to be able to do this indoors all Winter.

Mike Rabin, your point was well taken about the MIA partner and sometimes being the example is the way to a better product. I'm sorry it happened to you or anybody. I have lived through a partner who left before the end was over too, and I know there were a few others as well. Thankfully, yours just happened to be one game and not a DQ for the night from the playoffs like the others were. So far we have made a lot of adjustments along the way in many areas and even tho sometimes the attempts were a step backwards, they were only minor setbacks and we have the ability to adjust for the next week. I think allowing you, or anyone who gets put in the same place, to play the full game was a good solid solution that we will implement if it ever happens again.

Through suggestions from the past, one of the other things we have tried to do was to make the A Pool bigger. The way to do this is to move B players into the C Pool to make the groups equal. When we move some B Pool players down, they do make the A pool stronger. Last night the A pool won 4 cashing spots while the B pool saw 3 cashing spots which brings us to 25 A Pool, 20 B Pool winners the past 5 weeks.

I did a quick average of the past 2 weeks on the margin of victory and believe it or not, the numbers averaged 10.24. This was a quick calculation so I'll have to relook at the numbers tomorrow when I am a little more awake.

this works for alot of sports but disc golf is still a growing sport you dont want to discourage anyone from playing i was clueless in this sport 4 yrs ago but found a way and yes the first couple years alot of donating to learn, but when every1 feels they have a chance it gets more players playing... at the same time theres some people who come because of friends/ boyfriends and fun and social and then get a pro partner and they dont care to put time in to learn how to really play or putt. im never upset to get a new player who puts in a little time and effort... for example alex muton, hes still new but i see week from week improvment and that shows me alot, i dont see any hunger is some, and when marty or henry is willing to give there spot up and i see others it worries me who we catter to

Fair Smare! Since when are sports meant to be fair? The people who put there time in and practice will always go to the top, it is the way it is supposed to be. Why do people want to get something for nothing? I have only ever heard one maybe two people complaining about it not being fair in any case ever (guess who?). Making it fair in my opinion is for the weak. Practice, get better, make more competition or loose. Impossible to tell what format till the night of? Just what type of scenario what be perfect for A and B only? Because we have had all sorts of differant people show up from week to week and somehow A,B,and C is still perfect even if it meens moving A pool players into the B pool. Painful how obvious it is why this is the case. Oh well even though competition would be fun sometimes, I have fun so I will continue to be handicapped along with everyone else who practices in the cold and snow to get better.

when we did the a/b pool players got the chance to play against there own skill level more then the abc, i have alot of love for the ams and i do have fun with abc, but i dont often see the lower level putters step up in cruch time going against the pros, against themselfs they will, theres less pressure when they dont watch gabris hit 8 in a row, and do get that the top ams like urself its tougher on..... the abc isnt broke but the consistant disadvantage we get isnt 100% fair either, and it doesnt leave the ams high and dry like the random draw does

also last week i was pair with a new player who didnt know the system to well and didnt show up in time, if i get automaticly paired with a c pooler and that creates a mush larger chance in first time players, i feel i should be able to putt 2 on 1, some games go that way as it is, and to take my chance away to try to win or at lease get practice in is wrong, alot of times it takes a game to get a grove and so when i was trying to find it my senond and lost i then am hopeless, also it took away the chance for rich and ted to earn there margin of victory points so if they so happened to go 3-1 with tight games its really unfair for them to. (still love the league and show up as mush as possible)

For reference, I have asked to see it in writing how an A/B or Random Draw is more fair. Nobody has put forth any examples so it is what it is.

Just to reinforce my theory and looking at weeks 9 - week 14 and only the people who have cashed:
A/C Pool = 21
B/B Pool = 17

That isn't fair???

Since I am in the B pool and have only won 2 games out of the last 8, no A Pool player is getting any sympathy from me.
The numbers do not lie.
It is $5 for a night out of fun and putting.
If it sucks so bad then how is an A/B pool or Random Draw going to make it any better?
I don't want to keep addressing the complaints and drama.
From now on, if it isn't news or constructive discussion, I probably cannot reply. I spend too many hours trying to make this fun and fair to keep addressing the same topics unless someone brings forth an example of how to make it better. By better I mean for the entire crew, not just the A Pool players.

If I was to be turned away because I havnt played enough weeks I would not be very happy. It not our fault that some of us can't make it every week. And believe me if I could I would but that's not possible. If your there on time and before it fills up you should be able to play not have to worry that someone who's played more than u shows up later and u get bumped cause they've played more.

Regrettably, we went over in attendance and some people may have missed their opportunity to play for the 1st time. HOWEVER, kudos goes out to Ken Mango, Mike Henry, and Timmy TalksTooMuch Bennis for giving up their spots so the newbs could play. Just a reminder, 48 players is the limit and those who get to play when we max out at 48 goes to those who have more weeks played.

If I need to take action from suspension to temporary or permanent ban, I will do so. Players cannot say I did not forwarn them.

This week we will try 3 pools each with their own payout. This is all dependent on player turnout. The standard format will default to the A / B pool. A, B, and C Pool players will compete amongst ... show more ›

This is all dependent on player turnout.
The standard format will default to the A / B pool.
A, B, and C Pool players will compete amongst their own pools.
The A and B pool courts will remain 32 feet apart.
The C Pool court will be 20 - 25 feet apart.
Players placed in a specific pool will have the option to move up a pool but not down however, a C Pool player cannot enter the A pool.
The payouts will be smaller but more specific to each players skill level.

We are going to be trying different software which pairs up teams based off of their winning percentage per night.
The software places the tie breakers in order by strength of schedule so playoffs will be reduced.
The cost to play per pool remains at $5 per person however, if an entire pool decides to up the entry they can do so.

If you make every putt you will rarely lose if ever. 1-3 1-3 3-1 1-3. Its hard to cash no matter what level you are on. I think it is the most fun i've had at any disc golf event. Hope to see you all whenever possible.

Since my name was brought up I might as well ring in on the conversation. One week I was placed in C pool and harassed all night for being a bagger, then two weeks later I was placed in the A pool, which really felt good but I know damn well that I'm not an A pool putter and neither is Rooster, 2J and Herzog were bribed with beer to say Rooster should be A pool. Alright now with that said I like the idea of each pool playing against the same pool but not for every week. Reason for this....Though I feel I am well suited in the B pool I like the competition of playing those guys in A pool. Outside of the putting league I can not compete with these guys and it's not much fun for me watching them out drive me by 100-150', sad to say but even Rooster crushes my drives. But in the putting league I have the confidence that I can compete with everyone. I'm sure I can speak for most B and C players when I say this....It really feels good to beat an open player from time to time. Lets have weeks when we can all play against each other.

Furthermore....No matter the format, I will be there each and every week I can make it. I agree with Joe, $5 is well worth the cost of a fun filled night win or lose just to get out of the house and hang out with a bunch of great guys and gals. Has not been a single night that I didn't have fun.

Sunnybrook Indoor Putting suggestions about making a better format have always been listened to, digested to the point where mock-scenarios have been written and discussed, and are heading towards changes. I think in all we have only done this less than 20 times since last year and have changed formats at least 3 times that i can think off, albeit the changes are minimal.
Therefore, and I know this is not the most popular answer in the house, but I think formats will be a game day decision and MUST be based on attendance for that particular evening.
We very well may abandon the A,B,C pool format unless there are enough players to make up an equal # of A / C pools then we can run 3 pools and have a payout for each pool making option A.
Option A: The A players play against A pool players, B players compete against B pool players, and C players play against C pool players. 3 payouts, courts TBD that night.
Option B: Straight up A/B pools - split payouts between the A pools and B pools.
Singles: Format still being investigated.
A variation of Option B where the small number of A pool players play singles and the B pool players play doubles.
I can go on but you all can see that we have options and any one of you can provide input at making this a better night out for everyone.

The players at Bobis are "mostly" seasoned players. We have some very new-2-the-sport players at putting. The skill level of 40+ players is vastly different from the top players to the beginners and random draw would make for a lot of unbalanced teams.
Shoot - Bobis' Random Draw makes for a lot of unbalanced teams as is. I personally have dragged down plenty of beginner players because they drew me for a partner rather than a much better player so that format isn't the "template' of choice.
