It's official. I will be at the Ninja round this Saturday in Albion. And, to everyone's delight (I'm sure), I will have some TWIZBEE stuff with me.

First of all, book reports ARE due....soon. I will be there to collect them. If you have lost the literature we gave you earlier this year, you are in luck. I have more books and I will be bringing them with me. Even if you don't want to write another report for more points, you may enjoy the books I have to offer.

Also, for the first 8 players to come up to me and say the secret word, a common, ordinary word that you use everyday, you will receive a special prize. The 9th and 10th players will also get something, just not as special as the first 8.

Right now, the weather looks good for Albion on Saturday. A 25% chance of something falling from the sky, but, we can handle that. I like those odds. See you Saturday.

The Lost and Found round was a success. Unofficial amount raised was $271.00. A couple people paid via Paypal so I have to confirm with Groot, but that number should hold up.
The funds raised will go to North Star Reach for improvement to the course at the camp. Thanks to all who turned in or donated discs. And yes, we will do it again. So, keep those lost discs coming in.

I'm working on a few ideas for next year. Some of the same old stuff will reappear, but, there will be some surprises too, if I can get them to work. The first round next year will be a O.O.P.s round. You will play the round with discs no longer in production. It can't be a disc made only in one plastic instead of 6 different kinds of plastic. It can't currently be made in any type of plastic at all. Period. So, start searching the basement, the attic, the shed, the garage, Ebay and PIAS.
Those playing with OOP discs will receive bonus points and the person with the most OOP discs with get extra bonus points. Good luck.

Oh, and just a reminder, book reports are due by the end of the year. Got to have them by 12-31-20 to get bonus points to start next year.

WOW.....the second season of TWIZBEE is now in the books.

First, thank you to everyone who came out to support our efforts to raise money to help North Star Reach. Congrats to Tyler Kinley, Jacob "Executor" Belmas, and Trevor Staples on taking down the first three places and winning some VERY generous CJ's gift certificates. Tyler also took the TWIZBEE Lost and Found Cryztal Bowl Trophy. Congrats to Todd Cavender for taking home the Kestral bag. This was a blast of a round. Taking on the challenge of Hudson Mills with two random discs is a ton of fun.

Second, thanks to our TWIZBEE players. Brad and I have a blast trying to provide a unique league experience. We had a ton of players that just came back for more of the silliness. We appreciate the support of the league and A3.

Lastly, congrats to Trevor Staples for taking first in the league.....and for his knack of stepping up his game for the massive cash CTP's all year. This was a lot of fun. Hope to see you all next year.

Thursday is the Lost and Found Round at Hudson Mills, the Original Course. I know I said it would start about 5, but, I have been putting in some extra time at work this week. Sooo, I may be able to get out about 2, which would put me at Hudson Mills about 3, soo, we can start some time after 3.

COVID talk. Hand sanitizer will be available and WILL be used at the check in. You WILL wear your masks. You WILL be socially distant prior to heading out to the course. And after the round.

Last week I announced that there was the opportunity for a double hit on the ace pool. One for TWIZBEE and one for the Lost and Found. Well, two guys last week took one of those pools away from you. I'm. So. Sorry. But, with your $20 entry for the Lost and Found, $5.00 goes into the 50/50 ace pool. So, there's that. The ace pool CTP hole, in the event no one hits an ace, will be hole #3.Yeah, I know. Makin' ya work for it.

It has been confirmed. Discraft is providing vouchers for the top three places. $100.00 for first, $50.00 for second and $25.00 for third. In the event of a tie, guts frisbee at 10 paces with a Destroyer. Nah. Not really. 15 paces. Blindfolded. Oh, we'll figure something out.

The Reverse Raffle is still on. $2.00 gets you 3 chances at the Kestrel disc golf bag and ONE chance to pull a ticket out of the drawing and "lose" it. But not before the number is called and the loser can pull a prize from the Homer Bucket of Goodies. Hopefully everybody goes home a winner.

Did I mention the trophy for first place? There will be a trophy for first place. There. Mentioned.

I'd like to thank everyone who gave us discs they had found or ones they no longer had a use for. Randy "Shide-Arm" Shideler comes to mind for donating 27 discs. That was quite generous. Thank you.

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or tapped. Our ace pool has been tapped out. Congratulations to Tyler Kinley and Mike Magner for hitting aces at Bandemer this past Thursday. AND, Mike did it on the Cash CTP hole, which I didn't pay out because I had to make sure the Ace pool money was split accordingly. So Mike, I owe you more money.

Tyler also took home the Mystery CTP. In honor of National Radio Day, he won a 9 volt battery for his old transistor radio (it was actually a radio that can be recharged, I think). Mike, won even more money and Todd won the disc CTP.

And a thank you goes out to my son for gathering up the prizes for the Radio Station Trivia Contest post round this past week. Thank you Ben Merritt, program director and afternoon talent at KOWZ-FM 100.9, Owatonna, Waseca and Blooming Prairie, MN. And a thank you also to the Linder Farm Network for helping to make the contest happen.

He came through, it's kind of his thing. I asked that he get something from somebody, didn't care who, for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Discraft, God love 'em, is sending over some vouchers. I don't want to announce how much they are for until we have them in hand and I can verify the amounts. So, stay tuned.

Did I mention the custom trophy being put together as we speak? It may not be the biggest, but it will be the grandest. In my opinion.

We have enough discs for 45 players. 51 if we count the 6 extra drivers we have. 10 lucky players will get an extra disc in their bag to use during the round. $20 gets you in for the round AND a 50/50 ace pool, also for North Star Reach.

And, the Reverse Raffle. $2.00 gets you three chances at a Kestrel bag and ONE chance to pull a ticket out of the pile BEFORE the drawing for the bag and "lose" it. I just hope you don't pull one of your own tickets out. That, would, suck! Oh, since this is TWIZBEE, if your ticket is "lost", you will still win something. It is TWIZBEE, everybody goes home with something.

We will have an ace pool CTP hole for the Lost and Found Round, in the event no one hits the ace. AND, for those that have played a TWIZBEE round this year, you are also eligible for the TWIZBEE ace pool money, or, at least a percentage of it. As of this writing, it stands at $576.00. 20%, if you don't have your 3 rounds in, is still $115.00. Not bad, not bad.

But, I still need one thing. I need about 30 paper grocery bags. If you have a couple, or more, please try to get them to me. I would appreciate it.

I forgot to honor last weeks winners. Taking home the Cash CTP was Brian Guo. Tyler Kinley won the Disc CTP. Taking second on the Mystery CTP hole was Chris Kerns and winning the Mystery CTP hole was Jason Kaliszewski. Congratulations to one and all.

this coming Thursday. Bandemer. A round of whites and a round of reds with the CTPs on the REDS only.

It is also National Radio Day. To honor this occasion, after the round, we will have our own little radio station trivia contest. With prizes from a real radio station. I have culled the vastness of the internet and pulled some questions (and answers) from real, live radio stations. The first person to answer the question correctly wins the prize I pull from the Tote Bag of Swag.

It is also World Mosquito day. To the first 18 to show up, we have little bags of bug repellent. Might come in handy at Bandy in late August.

Also, the 27th is our first Lost and Found Round to benefit North Star Reach and their efforts to improve the course they have in Pinckney. Most of the bags are packed, about 21 so far. But, I do need more paper grocery bags to finish. So if you or your grandmother has them, I'll take them.

The concept is simple. $20 gets you two lost and found discs and a bag. Some of the bags will have a bonus disc that will be legal for use during the round. $5.00 of your entry fee will go automatically into a 50/50 ace pool for the Lost and Found Round. We will designate an Ace Pool CTP hole for this pot o' money. I'm leaning toward Hudson Mills Original, hole 17.

there will also be a Reverse Raffle for a Kestrel disc golf bag. $2.00 gets you 3 chances at the bag and 1 opportunity before we draw for the bag to "lose" a ticket from the raffle. You will get to pull a ticket from the bag raffle, eliminating them from the drawing. But, because this is TWIZBEE, we have parting gifts. Once all the tickets have been "lost" that need to be "lost", we will pull ONE ticket for the bag.

Oh yeah, and since this is technically a TWIZBEE league round that we are inviting everyone to, ALL that have played at least one TWIZBEE round will be eligible for the TWIZBEE ace pool, or at least a portion thereof. We have this rule that in order to get 100% of the ace pool money, you need to play at least 3 rounds with us. Less than that, you are entitled to 20%. So, imagine the cash to be had if a TWIZBEE player hits an ace and is in the Lost and Found ace pool and qualifies for the full TWIZBEE ace pool. Outstanding.

But we may consider a point carry over for next year, especially since I assigned book reports that are due at the end of the year for bonus points. Yeah, we'll carryover some points. The premise is simple. We have been scouring the countryside in search of lost discs. As of now, we have about 100. For the round, which is a fundraiser for North Star Reach, you pay $20. In return you will receive a bag, two lost and found discs and $5.00 of the entry fee will go to a 50/50 ace pool, with 50% going to North Star Reach. Go ahead and Google this organization, but, please wait until you have read this whole spiel.

We are also working out the details of the reverse raffle. This is something that Groot and I concocted over the weekend in the blistering heat at Independence Lake. For $2.00, you get 3 chances at a Kestrel disc golf bag. That takes care of $1.00. The other dollar gives you the opportunity to pull a ticket from the bin and "lose" it. It could fall on the ground and hide under a foot, it could blow away in the wind or even a crazed Nuthatch could swoop down and whisk it away. But first, we will call out that number, because, being TWIZBEE, we have trinkets. So, to recap, for $2.00, three tickets go in and one comes out. If this works out, I will take full credit. If not, blame Groot.

The round will be at Hudson MIlls, a park large enough to hold tens of players. Course TBD. Possible start time, 5 ish. On August 27th. I'll have more details as to the raffle start time. And a big thanks to those who brought sugar cookies, although they don't go as well with post round beers as I thought they would. But, I'm willing to give them another chance. Thursday we will be at Bandemer. One round of whites and one of blues with the CTPs on the BLUE holes only. The Mystery CTP is hot dog related. The 30th is also National Whistle Blowers Day. NATIONAL WHISTLE BLOWERS DAY. Kinda self explanatory, I would think.

This week we will be back at MBD. Ace pool over $400 and short tees. Don't hold back, they are all ace runs this week.

There will be a Mystery CTP with two winners. KInd of a dual theme going on. It is National Day of the Cowboy and also our celebration of National Farriers Week. One prize is cowboy related, the other farrier related. Winner has first choice. Both are not bad prizes.

I suppose you are curious about extra points this week. As Steve pointed out during our sugar cookie extravaganza, bonus points if you bring sugar cookies between now and the end of the season. Bonus points, up to 5, for wearing cowboy gear. REAL cowboy stuff, not Dallas Cowboys gear. Bonus points for carrying around a horseshoe (size is up to you) for the entire round.

Also, it is our Almost Mid-Season Awards Night with the presentation at the end of the round. In order for it to be the "real" Mid-Season Award Night, we would have to tabulate the scores and assign points for Thursday's round. That math is NOT going to happen. I don't wanna and I don't think Steve wants to either. So, the awards will be based on the standings going into Thursday's round. So please stick around after the round for the presentation.

As the dust settles on another round, we look ahead to next week at Lakeshore. I know they have added some new holes and couple of configurations, but, let's stick to the basic 18 from the short tees.

Next week, TWIZBEE will debut a new feature. The Homestate Heroines CTP. It will take the place of the Mystery CTP for this week only. The CTP prize pack will be based on that person's life and achievements. After the awarding of the fabulous prize pack, chosen by me wife, there will be a 6 question quiz open to those who entered the Homestate Heroines CTP. Believe me, my wife is working on some thought provoking questions as I write.

Another week done, and done. Congratulations to our CTP winners: Brian Guo absconded with the Mystery CTP (an aviation centered package of balloons, aliens and a T-Shirt), Todd Cavender took the cash and Jeremy Tindall (a 2X CTP winner) walked away with a new Comet.

Next week we will be at Bandemer for a round of Blues and a round of Reds. The CTPs will only be played on the Red Tees.

It is also National Sugar Cookie Day. The week after, will be the bonus point opportunity for National Sugar Cookie Day. Details on Thursday night. We don't have a Mystery CTP for Bandy, but, for some reason, we have a couple of extra T-shirts in honor of National Watermelon Month and the birthday of Buddha. Tomorrow is World UFO Day. Some sort of alien costume will get you some points.
Tomorrow is also the anniversary of the first SOLO flight around the world in a balloon. Tell me the year and earn half a point.
It is also the anniversary of the disappearance of Amelia Earhart. Tell me the year and the get the other half point.

Also, after the round, there will be a fun little contest that will test your construction and aviation skills. Sorry. No points awarded. But, you can keep what you make and the top three finishers get the same prize.. (you may want to have a Sharpie handy)

July, for those of you keeping track, is National Horseradish Mont (thank you Silver Spring Foods), Watermelon Month and National Hot Dog Month.

This past week at Indy, we had a couple of returning winners and a newcomer walking away with all the glorious CTPs. Dakota walked away before we could give him is $9.00 in cold hard cash AND his T-shirt commemorating National Zoo and Aquarium Month. Trevor won the main Mystery CTP and new to TWIZBEE and A3, Jeremy won the box of Red Wing prizes that Mr. Nolff gleaned from his collection. Well done one and all.

This coming Wednesday, July 2nd, is World UFO Day. Come dressed as an alien from outer space (we are assuming they re the pilots of said UFOs) and get extra points. It is also the anniversary of the first solo flight around the world in a balloon. And, sadly, this is also the day that Amelia Earhart disappeared. And, I think it is also the day of the first test of the atomic bomb. Lots of "air" things goin' on. So, stick around after the round for a special event.

Skipping ahead a couple of weeks to the 16th. We will be debuting a new, what we hope to be, annual event. Homestate Heroine Night. The Mystery CTP will be a prize pack based on a famous Michigan girl or woman. At the end of the round, there will be a short trivia contest based on that person. With prizes, of course. So, study up on all the famous Michigan women and girls you can think of.

This week we are celebrating Log Cabin Day. Bring a log cabin with you and receive bonus points. It is also Slovenia Day. Please see the previous post for all that this entails. And, please learn the names of the two Slovenian disc golf professionals. We are not going to ask, you just have to tell us who they are. Try to work it into a normal conversation, if you can.

We will have a Mystery CTP to celebrate Log Cabin Day. Officially June 28 here in Michigan, but, we are taking liberties yet again and celebrating on the 25th. If you bring a log cabin to league night, bonus points. There will also be a Mystery CTP for Log Cabin Day.

It is also Slovenia Day. Bonus points for wearing the Slovenian national colors. By the way, the have a secondary set of national colors, you know, just in case. You will also get bonus points for naming the two professional disc golf players from Slovenia. One point per player.

And to wrap up National Zoo and Aquarium month, a special T-shirt for the second place winner of the Mystery CTP.

It is also an extension of Flag Day. Wear an American Flag, or reasonable facsimile thereof, and receive bonus points. Receive fewer bonus points for wearing red, white and blue. Remember, berth(s) go to the person(s) with the most points. It pays to play (along).

Those with TWIZBEE cards be sure to bring them. Those without, we still have some left. $20 gets you 12 rounds at either the Monday, Thursday or Friday leagues. Wednesday didn't want to play with us on the offer.

Beginning 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2020, Barton Drive will be closed to thru traffic between eastbound ramps to M14 to Pontiac Trail. The detour will utilize Whitmore Lake Road, Warren Road, Gleaner Hall Road and Pontiac Trail in both directions. The ramps to M14 will remain open for the duration of the project. Local traffic will be maintained as described above.​

I won't recap the scores, you can see those on the leaderboard. BUT, keep in mind, BONUS POINTS ARE REAL!! They can help and the lack of them can hurt.
