About this league
The Putnam County Founding Flyers will be hosting a spring singles series in 2020...
This league will run along with bag tags which are new to Putnam County. Tags are sequentially numbered and club members are encouraged to compete for them weekly. The lowest score earns the lowest numbered tag and members compete to improve their rank each week. Membership starts at $5 per year (for tag only) or $25 for a membership pack that includes a tag, shirt, and towel. Membership is optional but tag play does add some extra fun into league play and casual rounds. This will also serve as a club fundraiser. Any proceeds will go to club events and course improvements.
League rounds always have and always will be FREE to anyone that wants to join. We welcome all ability levels from the touring professional to the first-time player. Participants may elect to pay for side action up to $5 for ace fund, closest to the pin (CTP) prizes, and/or throwing for dollars. Players must pay league director prior to tee off at 5:30 to be considered for any prizes. Details for all of the side action will be described below...
ACE FUND: For $2 per week players may opt to contribute to the ace fund. Should the weekly ace pot reach $100 it will be capped and a secondary fund will be started. If both the primary and reserve funds each reach $100 the weekly fund will go uncapped until a player hits a hole-in-one. Should multiple aces be hit on the same round players will split only the weekly fund. Club members are eligible for 100% of the ace payout. Non-members will only be eligible for half (50%) of the available ace pot each week.
CTP PRIZES: The Founding Flyers will put together two (2) closest-to-the-pin prizes (CTP's) each week. One will be for a disc of choice and the other for cash. Prizes for our CTP's will be provided by the Founding Flyers although we welcome our regulars to donate new or gently used plastic to the prize bin at any time. The weekly cash CTP will be dependent upon how many players come out to our league rounds and decide to add to the purse. The cost will be $2 per session (or $1 for each CTP). We will pick shorter holes for these CTP prizes so that anyone could win during any given round.
THROWING FOR DOLLARS: Finally, we will have a throw-off for dollars following each round. The cost will be $1 and all those that pitch in will get one throw to win the amount of cash collected for the week. The distance will be short enough for a putt-and-approach shot so anyone can take down the pot. The throw-off will change each week to keep things interesting.
Play will be scheduled each Thursday evening weather permitting. Should inclement weather occur and force a round to be canceled the weekly round will be omitted and subsequent rounds will follow the set schedule. Updates will be provided on Disc Golf Scene and Facebook to keep our club informed on any changes that may occur in a timely manner. Meeting times are set for 5:00 PM and tee off is set at 5:30 PM. To help league administration provide a positive experience for everyone we ask that players show up on time for play, bring exact change, follow the rules of the game, show good sportsmanship on the course, and have as much fun as possible!
