WEEK 9 RESULTS

There were four ACEs this week:
Ryan Petrunyak (A - $8.00)

The remaining ACE fund rolling over to 2020 Season is $225. This will either be split between all 3 baskets for week 1 of the 2020 season or it will be distributed to each basket over the course of the season. Details TBD.

Brian Parsons won the mini basket challenge for $17.

There was a math error regarding Tuni's score. He should have tied for 2nd, not 4th. He has an additional $10 coming to him.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Next week (3/6) will be the final week of 2019 league. Players may choose to buy mulligans ($1 each or 6 for $5). All money will go into the ACE fund of your choice. Any ACE funds not hit during regulation will be rolled over to next year's putting league to add some excitement to the opening week.

IN ORDER TO CLAIM AN ACE FUND PRIZE NEXT WEEK, YOU MUST HAVE PLAYED MORE THAN THE AVERAGE WEEKS PLAYED BY THE ENTIRE FIELD (THIS WILL LIKELY BE 5 WEEKS)

The point series will be determined by dropping each players' highest scoring week and lowest scoring week and taking the sum of the remaining weeks (maximum of 7 applicable weeks).

The top 5 point earners will receive Parma Disc Golf Club credit good for any leagues or tournaments run by the PDGC.

League starts in roughly two weeks, below are some details of what is to come!

Rounds will be Tuesday nights at 7:00pm on the second floor of the Tradesman in Parma. 5746 State Rd, Parma, OH 44134.

League will run from January 2nd, 2018 to March 20th, 2018 (12 weeks).

There will be a point series sponsored by Anglo American Darts and Discs with prizes for the top 3 point earners at the end of the season!
One point will be awarded for each person you beat (after handicap).

Weekly fee will be $10 per person. No extra or optional fees this year.

$7 goes to payouts (top 1/3 of the field rounded up)
$1 goes to the Parma Disc Golf Club
$2 gets split up into three separate ACE funds:
Basket A - $0.50, Basket B - $0.50 & Basket C - $1.00

ACE fund for each basket can be won by making 10/10 putts. If multiple people accomplish this on a given night, a putt-off on that station will be held to determine the winner.

Each ACE fund will roll over until someone drains it.

We will be doing a total of 100 putts a night again, however the format will be slightly different. Players will throw 90 putts over 3 rounds with an additional 10 putts on the station that is randomly selected each week.

If Basket B was drawn as the bonus basket for the week, the breakdown would look like this:

Round 1: Basket A-10 putts, Basket B-10 putts & Basket C-10 putts
Round 2: Basket A-10 putts, Basket B-10 putts & Basket C-10 putts
Round 3: Basket A-10 putts, Basket B-20 putts & Basket C-10 putts

Total of 100 putts!

We will be utilizing a handicap system again. A scratch score will be considered 75/100 for the 2018 Season. The Handicaps will be cumulative and based on a player's overall average. This will be the similar to the way we did it for the second half of last season, but we will be using total points this year, not putting percentage.

Handicaps will be calculated with the following formula:

(75 - Player's Average) * 0.85 = Handicap

It was an exciting finish with your TD finally getting a win over Mike Thomas in a sudden death throw-off!

The ACE fund was not hit during regulation play, even though Evan Adams, Brian Parsons, Nick Schultz, Ryan Tuni and myself all had 9/10 on the ACE fund basket at some point during the night.

We ended up doing the ACE fund reclaim explained in the post below and several people won up to $20 back on the spot.

After all was said and done, we were able to raise $434 for the Parma Disc Golf Club. This money will be put towards the development of the Nike Park 9-Hole course.

1. We will be offering Mulligans on the ACE fund basket only. They will be $1 a piece or 6 for $5. They must be purchased before play starts at 7pm. They can be used however the player chooses.

2. If the ACE fund is not hit, all players who have played in at least 50% of this season's league nights (5 or more including the final) and who have paid into the ACE fund will get a chance to win up to twice their normal weekly ACE fund contribution back (maximum of $20).

3. Any ACE fund money not claimed after the final week will go to the PDGC for development of our new 9-Hole course at Nike Park.

Big changes tonight! We ran with the A/B divisions for a few weeks, but it seems that the B-Pool was significantly larger than the A-Pool.

So, we will be trying handicaps for the last three weeks!

I have analyzed the data for this season and determined that a putting percentage of 70% will be considered "scratch". Handicaps will be calculated based on a player's average putting percentage for the season. That average will be subtracted from 70 and then multiplied by 85% to get their handicap.

Example: Player averages 54% for the season.
70-54=16 -> 16*0.85= 13.6 -> Player handicap is 14.

Handicaps cannot be lower than 0!

This format is similar to the Thursday Night Handicap League, except we will be using running averages, not the last 3 weeks played. This will allow the entire field to compete fairly against each other and give more people a chance to win some $$$!

We tried a new final round format where players got a maximum of 10 putts from 20' (B-pool) or 25' (A-Pool). Once you missed you were done. This lead to a shootout between Aiden Gensel and Andrea Parsons in the B-Pool with Aiden making 10/10 to force a putt-off and eventually take the win! A-Pool action was kind of boring with Chris Warfield shooting a hot 81% on the night. He was un-touchable!

I personally liked this format better than the 3-4-5 format we have used in the past. I will hold a vote next week that will determine which format we use for the rest of the season.

Last night was a real nail-biter! The entire A pool went into the final round in reach of a cash spot. There were many bonus putts made that shook up the order and made for an exciting finish! The B pool had a tie for first after Justin made two bonus putts. A throw-off followed where Andrea locked in first place. Overall a good putting night with some pretty good percentages from the field.

Due to feedback from multiple players and physical changes to our space, Week 2 will introduce a few changes that will be permanent moving forward.

Change 1 - We will be providing players the option to compete in two separate pools. Open/Advanced or Intermediate/Recreational. Each division will have its own payouts according the the payout tables already established. Once a player picks their division, they will be locked in to that for the rest of the year (note: a player's division choice will be subject to review by the PDGC to ensure fairness). All players will still compete for the same ACE fund from Basket C.

Change 2 - Basket A (Bullseye) will lose the 30' station and players will now throw four (4) putts from the 25' station. There will only be four stations at this basket moving forward; 10', 15', 20' & 25' (x2).

Due to poor memory, this Thursday will be the FINAL week of the PDGC indoor putting league. I apologize for the last minute update, but I totally forgot that I'm going out of town next Thursday!

After this Thursday's competition, the top 3 players in the point series will split the point series pot, 55%, 30%, 15%.

There will be 100 putts, each being worth 1 point each. No bonuses, no trick shots, just putting!

Week 9 is in the books. After a terrible showing by Evan Adams, we have a new point series leader, Brian Parsons! He's not afraid to flaunt his cash on Facebook either!

3 more weeks until we wrap up putting and hit the great outdoors for the Thursday Night Big Money League at Veterans Memorial Park.

After a last minute time change, we held league last night. Mel killed the guys again with an amazing last round where she made 13/14 putts from 10-40ft!

Evan Adams is still holding a strong lead in the point series with top 3 finishes every week so far.

Next week we'll be at our regular time, Thursday February 11th @ 7:00pm.

The week 4 format has been set with a mind-blowing 74 putts per person, for a total of 124 possible points!

There will be 6 regular rounds with a bonus 2-putt final round similar to last week. Instead of having to make both final putts for 10 points, a player will get to choose from 3 baskets to putt at with varying point possibilities.

REMEMBER LEAGUE IS ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY, 5TH THIS WEEK

Also, I think it would be cool to get a mini swap meet going every week with people bringing their extra discs to sell/trade. I'll have mine, feel free to bring yours.

Originally I had planned for 13 weeks of league with each player's top 10 weeks counting for their point series total.

Since I cannot guarantee that we will have 13 weeks total, due to possible schedule conflicts, we will just drop each player's two lowest weeks at the end of the season.

If you have a 0 on a week, that means you did not participate in the point series that week or you did not attend league. If you pay the $1 every week, you will receive at least 3 points towards your point series total each week.

Essentially, you can miss two weeks and it will not hurt your point series total.

The format has been set with everyone throwing 44 putts for a possible 70 points. We will also try to have a practice basket set up for people to use when they are not competing.

We will be playing 3 rounds then taking a 10 minute break. The final 3 rounds will follow.

The format has been posted in the pictures and on Facebook. Depending on attendance and how fast we complete all 5 rounds, we may add a 6th round. The format of the 6th round will be decided by the group.

Thanks to the 18 people who came out and hopefully I'll see everyone again next week! We have some good ideas to help eliminate downtime.
