Glow play Nov 21 - Thurs night. John, Jim and Tim played a Handicap round.(pads/alt) Don't remember, don't care what the score was, but it was intense. Then we did a Roller round (pads/alt). Chris, Woody and Sam played rounds. Chris and Mike joined us for a 9hole Roller round. Then the 5 of us did a putter round. That was a fun 54holes at night for all of us.

Hey guys,

We have our monthly bag tag challenge happening this Saturday at the brand new course at Compass Lake, The Bear! You've probably seen the emails about this great new course just 40 minutes from us. This will be our first btc at this 18 hole course. If you haven't had the chance to play it yet now would be a great time to come out and play it. If anyone needs a ride or wants to carpool there will be some members meeting at the Burger King on hwy 231. Let me know if you would like to follow or ride with someone and I will give you the time to meet. This btc will tee off at 9 a.m. There is a charge to play this course, however the mgr. has allowed us to have our btc there at only a $4 player fee, which includes two drinks for you. They also have a snack bar.

We will also be having our first ever club vs. club match on July 13th at the Chain Dragon course in Freeport. Panama City Chain Gang will be playing against Ft. Walton Beach Playground Disc Golf Club. Chris has a sign up sheet, just check your emails and our bag tag challenge 2013 page. If you need more info please send me an email.

We also have a small amount of club t-shirts available. We will as always have the t-shirts and club tags at the challenge if you need one.

Get ready for the Bear,

They have started charging the $5 fee to play at The Bear disc golf course at Compass Lake. However I just talked with the mgr. and he said if anyone wants to come play this Saturday morning @ 7-7:30 he would wave the $5 fee. If you do want to play that early, and free, you need to let me know by Friday around noon so I can let them know how many people are coming.

We also discussed having our next BTC there on July 6th. The course will provide drinks, no alcohol beverages, for every nine holes we play. SO we play a full round of 18 you will get two drinks. They are also going to reduce our price for the day to $4 to play. This being a new course in a community that really wants to bring championship disc golf to their area and is a course we need and want to play, make sure to come on out and play this course. There is also talk of a tournament and one or two other things they want to do in the near future. You will not be disappointed as it has something from everyone. You can see a couple of pictures on dgcoursereview.com and discgolfscene.com should have pictures up by this weekend.

Also, if you have not joined the club for 2013 you will no longer receive club emails after this weekend. So please join today!

THe new disc golf course in Alford, 'The Bear', is a great course and one needed in our area. If you have not played this course yet I recommend playing it when you get the chance. I believe some people are going Saturday morning so if you would like to go let us know.

If you plan on being there before 8 a.m., when they open, you need to let us know. They do not want golfers up before they open unless they know by Friday afternoon.

Golfers!!

We now have a brand new 18 hole course!

But not here. The new course is about 40 min. north of us in Alford at Compass Lake. This weekend they are offering to play the course for free. I would contact them before I make the drive to be sure. However after this weekend they may start to charge the normal fee of $5 for all day play. They open at 8 a.m. Here is the link for more information on a great course that I think we really need:

well the Compass lake course was pretty good . It had a good variety of shots left,right ,uphill downhill. still not sure i started with the right basket on hole #1 and baskets are not # ,but pretty easy to follow after hole #1. you have to play it once to see where the baskets are then play a second round. I think the par 4,s should be 3's and the last hole a par 4. I played from the short tees and had a -6 and -8 and just missed a few more birdies. hole 11 is the best a 340' shot downhill to the water,careful the water is only about 60' away. right now it is free to play but unfortunately you cant use the pool or lake unless your a owner or are renting a cabin. it's for sure worth a trip from Panama city. take lots of water, there is a lot of uphill walking and of course yellow flies. Hey everyone we have a New Championship Course (so they are saying)close by its only 35 miles from Panama city it's called Compass Lake in the woods. just a short ride up 231. It cost $5.00 to play all day. hole distances are 200' to 700' thats right 700'. I am going to talk the wife into taking a ride up there today or tomorrow anyone else care to go. We had a great time this past Saturday at the Tallahassee Open. We played two rounds at Tom Brown and one at Jack McLean parks. Turbo Tim, 'Catfish' Chris B., Chris W. and myself along with 115 other disc golfers played about 15 hours of disc golf, made some new friends, and had a great time with some Tallahassee disc golfers.
Chris B. shot the better between the four of us, Turbo Tim came in 3rd in his division, and Chris W. threw an ace on his first throw, on his first hole of the tournament! He was also recognized for getting CTP on one of the holes as well.
Next year let's have more of our club members attend.
If you haven't played the courses in Tallahasse you really should play either course as they are both a lot of fun with something to offer. If you guys would be interested in going over to Tallahassee on a Saturday and playing for the day, let us know. Which park would you guys like to play for our next out-of-town bag tag challenge??

I want to thank our club members who came out to play for our monthly bag tag challenge today. Had something different today with an Ace Race challenge that Tommy put together and did a fantastic job! It was something new, a lot of fun, and a good challenge.

Please check out the Leaderboard and make sure you have the correct tag number. If not, let one of us know so we can change the leaderboard.

Next weekend is the Tallahassee Open. If anyone is planning on going please post it or let and admin know it so they can post it. I believe we may have a couple of members who may want to go but do not have a ride. There are a couple of members going over on Friday and some going over on Saturday so let us know if you would like to go. If you are going I would encourage you to wear your club t-shirt. If you do not have one and would like to get one let us know.

Ace Race Rules

The rules for an Ace Race are different from regular play. Below are my variations of the “official” DiscCraft Ace Race Rules. Come out and Ace Race for the lowest Tag.

Local Course Modifications
 We will be making the holes shorter. After all, the point is to encourage aces.
 Each player may carry only Two discs onto the Ace Race course.
 Each player will have two throws per hole for a total of 18 holes per round.
 The club Ace Pot is not eligible to be won during this event.

POINTS WILL BE AWARDED AS FOLLOWS:
• 1 point for contact with basket and under metal.
• 3 points for contact with chains and top of basket.
• 7 points for ace.

Format:
Two rounds of 9 , Two throws per player per hole. Both throws scored.

Course Layout:
Holes are generally shortened to between 100 and 250 feet.

Rules of Play:
Players are required to use the two discs, and only these discs. If a disc is lost, the player can substitute a new disc. Only two throws per player per hole. Groups of up to eight are generally acceptable, depending on course, time of day and TD discretion.

Each player should have their own scorecard and mark “7” for aces and “1” or “3” for holes on which they hit metal.

After all players in the group have thrown, discs are picked up and the group moves directly to the next tee. Players keep their scorecards for round two, using the next line on the card to record the round.

The player with the highest score after the second round is declared the winner. In case of ties, a closest to the pin contest is then held to determine the winner.

Please see the attached flyer for the Spring Fling tournament this Saturday as the date was changed from last Saturday due to weather, but this Saturday is looking good. I believe there will be other games, such as a ring of fire, ace pot (for club members), etc. So come out and enjoy a morning of some fun disc golf!
We will be selling club t-shirts at this tournament!
