Well it was safari night tonight, and no we were not high when we made these holes... well maybe on bath salts. We did enjoy some good face afterwards. With only a few select people that actually got to see the course due to the fact that they were the only ones we could contact, we saw some pretty good rounds. After leagues, we had a heated discussion about PDGA ratings for the second night in a row! Just kidding, we drank beer and had a jolly good time, but enough about things we don't care about and lets get into some action.

In the Open division we finally saw someone other than Terry or Horsman win. Mark Klug shot a good -9 to make Horsman look more like a Ponyman. Matt still shot a good -7 even though I'm positive that he said the course intimidated him.

Mike Klug ruled over the semi pro division with a -9, though if we would have gone by the card, which had 19 holes on it for some reason, he would have scored a -10. Abendschein has only 18 holes, gentlemen! There is no tee for this supposed "front" hole. Maybe they threw at the practice basket from somewhere and counted it on accident, but we're disappointed that the other players on his card only managed to get 3's on this mystery hole! There were two people that tied for second in this division, but this paragraph is already too long to mention them. Could we have not typed that last sentence and had ample room? Probably.

The advanced division saw a tie for first this week, with Dan Bertzyk and Kory Banaszynski each putting up -4. This division is going to come down to the wire, so these guys better have the eye of the tiger (which you would see on safari, get it?) on double points night.

Kayla Schweitzer continued to dominate the womens division with a +6, and barring a minor miracle will become the champion of this division in seven days. Jimmy Finley won the juniors division with a +7, but this division race will be decided on the epic double points night. Unfortunately, we are all out of jokes at this point. We b tired and a lil krunk. We'll catch you next week.

Well it was week 6 and MOST of us knew that meant 2 disc night. We definitly picked a great night as the the winds appeared to get stronger as the night continued but that didn't stop us. Wow... this is really hard to write as we watch this total humiliation of the NBA finals (stupid Labron). Let's get into some action.

In the open division Terry Miller took first yet again with a -12. Will somebody please beat this guy cough Horseman. He still shot alright though, taking second with a -8. Mike Finley was not too far behind shooting -7.

That brings us to the semi-pros. Dustin Skorupinski took the top spot shooting -6.Second was a tie for the second week in a row. Why can't you guys just shoot different scores, it's not rocket science. It was taken by Mike Hopfensperger and Mike Klug each throwing a -5.

In our largest division, the advanced division, a big three way tie for first at -4. First off, read the above statement guys. Second, we barely made it through typing a two the last tie, do you honestly think we are gonna attemp three names. But there were some guys who beat some other guys I assure you.

The ace pool was hit by two players again this week. Kurt Ziarnik hit his second ace in the league and Al Gilgenbach hit his first. A huge thanks goes out to Matt Horsman and Pandamonium to sponsor some fantastic CTPs. Can you say mini CTP??? Also we finally got a date for when the park is going to close.

We have been talking about maybe doing some more of a less formal type of thing on Thursday nights like random draw doubles or dirty dollar rounds. We need to do it big as our Abendschien park get a little bit of a face lift.

Well two disc night is done and over with and there were some rumbles asking if we would be doing anything else different. Can I hear a quiet whisper calling out Safari Hole Night?!! See ya all next week.

The second week of our league has now come and gone, and we already feel like grizzled veterans of the league-running game! Nah, just kidding, but we're getting a decent handle on this here thang. We had a better turnout this week. We don't know the exact number (because we're just too lazy to count right now) but it's more than last week, that much is certain. Many of us could've filed a harassment lawsuit against the blustering winds, but it calmed down some time during the round and all of our excuses for poor throws went out the window. On to the business at hand...

Opening with the open division (yuk yuk), this dude named Matt Horsman, who is a champion or something like that, keeps the rest of the division at bay with another excellent round of -13. Newcomer Kurt Ziarnik followed in his wake with a nice -8. Some other guys played and didn't do as well as those first two guys, but they played with a lot of heart!

The semi-pro division came back down to Earth for week two, but still posted respectable scores. Leading the way was Justin Lau with a -6, followed by Dustin Skorupinski with -4. After getting spurned by the waitstaff at BW3 the night prior, Andy Kintop took that rage and turned it into $4 towards some great merchandise from our good friend Terry Miller at Lifetime Disc Sports. Maybe he can put that funny money toward a disc that he can throw at the waiter (or maybe a hot waitress) to finally get their attention!

Advancing to the advanced division (sorry about that), "Wolfman" Pete Moll set the standard with -5. Josh Koch and Steve Franke were nipping at his heels with -4. The standings in this division promise to stay close for the whole season, so these players will have to bring their GPA 4.0 game from here on out!

In the womens division, Kristin Scott (great last name by the way, one of my personal favorites) finished with +8 and saw her competition arrive with her arm in a sling from kicking so much butt last week. That's probably not the origin of her injury, but we wish her the best in her recovery... even though she can still throw with her good arm ;) I'm sure she is eager to return and dominate her division once again!

Jimmy Finley laid down the law in the junior division with a +3, even outscoring one of our open division competitors (we're looking at you, dad). We kid around, but it's great to see the competition within the families. Sage Lau was a close second with +5.

The ace pool was drained by Matt Horsman, which by his description was 99% due to the whipping winds. We disagree, and as a token of our admiration for an ace on such a windy day, we are going to award him the $2 accidentaly shorted him by the league administrators who supposedly have accounting degrees. Oops!

In the CTP, we had an early shot parked within inches by Mike "Pepper" (not gonna try to spell your last name) which forced the rest of the field to make a run at the basket with a couple close throws but no chains. Mike Hopfensperger (thank goodness for copy and paste lol) walked away with a nice Crystal Z Buzz with a sweet GMO 2012 stamp courtesy of Terry Miller.

As week two fades into our memories, week three is on the horizon. With it comes a new day, hopefully some better weather, and a chance for any player to make their mark in this league in any given week. Week 4 will be double points night, so those with the desire for a trophy can make a big come-up in a short amount of time. We hope to see the same faces as well as some new ones as the Real Disc Golf League of the OC rolls along. We are also kicking around the idea of a ladies night, which would net extra points toward a championship. Have a great week, and we will see you on Thursday!

Hello all. Week 5 of our humble league has now come to an end. We would've wrote a summary of the last two weeks, but laziness and unpleasant run-ins with Pizza Hut took precidence. We had another good turnout for week 5, as 35 people decided they had nothing better to do on a Thursday night. Just kidding, as we all know disc golf is the best thing that has ever happened to Thursday night, or any other night for that matter! On to the results...

The open division was anything but open as Terry Miller slammed the door on the competition with a scorching -17, missing only hole 16 (wtf Terry lol). He also gave a very informative putting clinic that is sure to help scores of scores. Yup, I just said that! Kurt Ziarnik and Matt Horsman tied for second place with nice rounds of -11.

In the semi-pro division, Chris Hmielewiski led the way with a good round of -7. A four way tie at -6 followed, and quite honestly, my fingers don't have the vigor to type all of their names here. The leaderboard tab will tell you all you need to know about them!

The advanced division showed how advanced they really are with their stellar scores. Lucas Nuss had the division's hot round at -9, closely followed by Dave Swoboda (or is that Swanda lol) at -8 and Dan Bertzyk at -7. These guys are the future stars of the semi-pro division, so watch out!

As the women and juniors only have a combined four competitors, they merit only one sentence, Kayla Schweitzer and Sage Lau. Nuff Said! Oops thats two sentences. Wait, it grew to three with the explanation. Dangit, now we're at five!

Mercifully moving on, the ace pool was cleaned out by two guys on the same card, Matt Horsman and Mike Finley. They won a cool $35 each, not a bad payday for one throw! In the CTP's (courtesy of Terry Miller's Lifetime Disc Sports) Kayla Schweitzer won a sweet Metallic Flake Champion Gator, and Dustin Skorupinski and Mike Hopfensperger (I spelled that without looking, I swear) won nice Lecacy Clutch putters.

Next week will be TWO DISC NIGHT, so make sure you have your most primo pieces of plastic ready for this test of skill and versatility. A huge thanks to Terry Miller for his awesome contributions to this league, and thanks to all of you for showing up and making all of it possible. We joke around a little on here (maybe a lot) but it's all in good fun and we truly appreciate the support of this great disc golf community. See you next week!

With a slow start to registration, we picked up steam as we went along and we ended up with 27 total players! While we were excited to see so many eager chuckers, we hope to see an even bigger turnout in the weeks to come. With more players come bigger and better prizes, and I know we all like the sound of that! We had a bit of wind tonight to make things a little more interesting, but the weather was still very good and the course was in nice shape for a Thursday night round of disc golf.

In the Open division, we saw reigning champ Matt Horsman continue where he left off last year with a dominating -10. Hopefully we can provide him with more competition from the rest of the division in the weeks to come.

With every player in the Semi-pro division outscoring 75% of the Open division (ugh), they showed some great scores all around. The hot round went to Dustin Skorupinski who posted a -10 to lead the division and take an early points lead over his counterparts. There was some serious competition for the top spot though, as Dave Scalf and Tim Heinzelmann were right on his heels at -9. In the upcoming weeks, we might have to remove the "semi" from this division's moniker!

In the Advanced division, we saw a wide range of scores. Dan Bertzyk led the way scoring -4, while Kory Banaszynski and Josh Koch were close behind with -3. As this is the most populated division in the league, we are sure to see a ton of exciting competition going forward.

There was no competition for our Womens and Juniors divisions, for they were dominated by the people they see in the mirror each day! Hopefully we can scare up more competitors for these spots in the future.

Congratulations to Mike Klug for hitting an ace on hole 18 and cleaning out the ace pool before the money had cooled from being in our wallets! We had a good time with the CTP and putting competitions to close out what we hope was a fun night of disc golf for everyone (even though the guy stepping off the CTP seemed to have not been able to pass a simple field sobriety test. Good job, Scott!)

The scores have all been posted, and we are still in the process of calculating the payouts and should have them posted very soon. We hope to see everyone next week, along with some new faces. Have a great week everyone!
