Just before the league flips the page to its third session, Elias Fochler went full throttle, shredding the course with a blistering -13 (53) to lock up another Open division victory. Micah Beideman stayed hot on his heels at -10 and also snagged the MPO/MA1 CTP for $8.

Brandon Stevens and Jared Fechter both posted impressive -5 (61) rounds to share top honors in the Advanced division. In Intermediate, Eric Lachendro cruised to the win with a sharp -6 (60). Matthew Brungo kept things tight in Rec, taking the win with a +1 (67).

Tom Stephenson landed the other CTP and walked away with $6—next week, that prize gets even sweeter.

Heads up: Starting in Week 21, the CTP pots will be combined into one big payout. No aces or birdie pots this week, but the final session of the summer is about to turn up the heat.

The rain stayed away and the scores came to play in Week 19! Elias Fochler and Matt Rosier both carved up the course at -7, sharing the win in the Open division. Elias added an extra $8 to his haul by nabbing the MPO/MA1 CTP. Over in Advanced, Brandon Stevens matched that score to take home the solo win and top payout.

The Intermediate division saw a rare three-way tie at the top, with Shane Hughes, Nathan Black, and Brett Say all finishing at -2 (64) to share first and the prize pool. Blake Wargo claimed victory in Recreational with a solid +2 round.

Meanwhile, Stephen Filander grabbed a CTP win worth $3 and some bragging rights.

With the sun blazing and the air thick enough to cut with a disc, Week 16 pushed players to their limits. But in the midst of near-record temperatures, a few competitors stayed ice-cold under pressure.

Vinny Montanari took control in the Open division, navigating the scorched fairways to shoot -4 (62) and claim the top prize of $22.

Over in Advanced, the heat didn’t break the focus of Josh Wertkin and Brandon Stevens, who both fired off -2 (64) rounds to split the win at $6 apiece. Wertkin added to his payout by parking hole 5 and securing the MPO/MA1 CTP for $7.

In Intermediate, Bryan Schultz and Reegan Hanley matched each other stroke for stroke at even par (66), earning $15 each for their grit.

Finally, in Recreational, Blake Wargo kept his cool just long enough to card a +4 (70) and snag the win along with $12.

No aces. No birdie pot hit. Just sun, sweat, and a few steady hands slicing through the heat.

With the course set to its most punishing layout yet, players were tested at every turn — and just in time for the midseason mark of league play. But even with the challenge cranked to eleven, a few rose above the rest.

At the top of the Open division, Matt Rosier and Vinny Montanari shared the spotlight with twin scores of -8 (58), splitting the win and taking home $12 each on a layout where birdies didn’t come easy.

In Advanced, Joshua Dymun showed serious control under pressure, carding a -5 (61) for the win and $14, plus snagging the MPO/MA1 CTP for an extra $7 to round out a strong week.

Bryan Schultz tamed the beast in Intermediate, grinding to a -2 (64) to secure the top payout of $15, staying ahead of a tightly packed leaderboard.

Despite soggy fairways and a light drizzle, Week 14 saw a flurry of bold throws and clutch putts that brought the energy.

Matt Rosier delivered a show-stopping round in the Open division, shredding the layout with a -13 (53) — the lowest score of the season — to take home $18. As if that wasn’t enough, he snatched the $30 birdie pot, lighting up holes 3, 4, 5, 12, and 15 with pinpoint accuracy.

In Advanced, Bobby Regan made the wet conditions look easy, firing off a clean -8 (58) to secure the top spot and $6.

Over in Intermediate, Nathan Black navigated the mud with finesse, posting a strong -5 (61) to take home $15 and the division crown.

Nick Richardson powered through the chill in Recreational, carding a solid +4 (70) to snag $12 and the win.

Week 13 turned into a showcase of hot hands and cooler nerves as players lit up the course with red numbers and tight races — and one round that nearly rewrote the record books.

In Open, Elias Fochler dropped a blistering -11 (55) to secure the win and a cool $18, reminding everyone that when he’s dialed in, the course is in trouble. His performance was the lowest score posted all season — a true statement round.

The Advanced division saw a rare three-way tie at the top as Jared Fechter, Joshua Dymun, and David Lachendro all finished at -7 (59). Each walked away with $10, having perfectly balanced firepower and consistency.

Over in Intermediate, Shane Hughes torched the layout with a -10 (56) — a score that would’ve won any division short of Elias’s heater — and collected $17 for his stellar effort. Stephen Filander may not have taken the division, but his birdies on holes 7, 8, and 13 snagged the birdie pot for $35, a clutch performance with money on the line. (A second player, Shane, also matched the birdie feat — but forgot to pay in. Ouch.)

In Recreational, Quinlan Hanley ground out a +7 (73) to edge the field and pocket $12 on a day where bogeys came easier than pars.

CTPs went to the sharpshooters: Matt Malcolm hit the mark in MPO/MA1 for $7, while Blake Wargo parked one on hole 15 to earn $6.

The Memorial Day showdown brought 33 players to the blue tees of Deer Lakes — longer, meaner, and ready to humble. But a few competitors stared down the extra footage and made it blink.

Brendan Reed led the charge in Open, carding a confident -3 (63) to cash $32 and remind everyone that precision doesn’t take a holiday. He wasn’t alone in red numbers, but he was the best of the bunch.

In Advanced, Joshua Dymun danced through the long pins with a steady +1 (67) to pocket $14 — a clean, quiet win on a day when the course rarely gave second chances.

Wyatt Jagger wrangled the win in Intermediate with a gritty +5 (71), collecting $18 and outlasting a field that got swallowed by blue.

In Recreational, it was a tie at the top — Michael Gomez and Greg Close both braving the blues for a matching +14 (80). Each walked off with $13.50 and a piece of the day’s toughest win.

But the spotlight swiveled to Jake Spryn, who became the only player to unlock the birdie pot, striking gold with birdies on holes 12 and 17 for a crisp $69 — one birdie for each dollar earned.

Josh Wertkin and Brett Say claimed the CTPs, taking home $15 and $16, respectively — small circles, big rewards.

The course was long, but these players went the distance.

Chris Lachendro was locked in, carving up the course with a commanding -8 (58) to take down the Open division and pocket $22. Smooth, steady, and unshakable.

In Advanced, Jesse Kummer delivered a focused and fearless round, shooting -5 (61) to claim the top prize of $14. No drama, just domination.

But it was Intermediate where the drama hit a new level. Bryan Schultz dialed in a clutch -7 (59) to take the win and $20 in cash. Meanwhile, Nathan Black made personal history, draining his first-ever ace on hole 11 and earning a jaw-dropping $195. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Reegan Hanley put together a laser-focused birdie streak on holes 7, 8, and 12 to capture the elusive $131 birdie pot. Ice in his veins.

Nick Richardson rose above the rest in Recreational, grinding out a gritty +9 (75) to snag the win and $12, proving that determination still pays dividends.

Open Division
This division is a battlefield. Matt Rosier and Chris Lachendro are locked in a relentless duel, each trading wins and pushing the pace. Brendan Reed stormed in with a couple of commanding victories, and Vinny Montanari unleashed a near-flawless round in Week 10. Micah Beideman and Elias Fochler have kept it close, showing that the leaderboard can flip at any moment.

Advanced Division
Nothing is safe here. Joshua Dymun fired an early warning shot, but the title of top gun has been passed around like a hot disc. Matt Malcolm, Brandon Stevens, Alessandro Della Valle, and Jesse Kummer have all taken turns atop the podium. It’s a division with depth and danger—one cold putt away from a shake-up.

Intermediate Division

I've run the numbers with the birdie pot from last year's hole scores and am making the change that MPO will need to only birdie 5 holes instead of 6 like last year. MA2 and MA3 will still only need to birdie 3 holes and MA1 will still need to birdie 4 holes.

More in depth:
The first hole selected will be from the set of holes 2, 5, 8, and 15. Then, the next two holes will be selected from the set of holes 4, 6, 7, 9, 11-14. These will be the MA2 and MA3 holes. MA1 will add an additional hole from the set of holes 3, 5, 6, 11, 15-18. And then MPO will add an additional hole from the set of holes 3-5, 11, 15-18.

Super nerd stuff:
Based off of last year's birdie percentages in each of the divisions, this will mean that the birdie pot on average should be hit once out of every 123 rounds in MA2/MA3, 113 rounds in MA1, and 117 rounds in MPO.
If the most birdied holes are selected from each set for each division, the MA2/MA3 division should have a 1.16% chance of hitting the pot, while MA1 should have a 2.53% chance, and MPO should have a 1.96% chance.
If the least birdied holes are selected from each set for each division, the MA2/MA3 division should have a 0.59% chance of hitting the pot, while MA1 should have a 0.21% chance, and MPO should have a 0.29% chance.

The 2025 Deer Lakes League season kicks off this Monday and it looks like we are supposed to have beautiful weather to welcome us back! Please be sure to sign up at the link below!

Players are responsible for finding their own groups and may tee off between 3:00pm and 5:00pm. I will be in the parking lot by hole 1 by 4:45 to make sure that everyone has a group, so if you are looking for folks to play with, please show up there. If you are teeing off after 4:30, please try to play in groups of 3 and play quickly as we will still be pushing daylight even playing the red tees.

A reminder that this is a PDGA sanctioned league; therefore, all PDGA rules apply. You must mark your disc when required. You must hole out to finish the hole. There are no gimmies. You must follow out of bounds rules. There are no mulligans.

In order for scores to get to me, you must keep score on the PDGA website at pdga.com/score. The access code this year is deer2025. If you have any questions on how to keep score, please let me know.
