Congratulations to Phil Common on being the 2023 WC Glow Spring/Summer League champion! Taking 1st place with 412 total points. Great shooting this season!

Our Spring/Summer 2023 season wrapped up this past Wednesday with a round at Bandemer. We played a RW + WR layout during a calm, hot & very humid summer night which lead to a top score of -16 from Common/Ms. Vick, taking solo first cash! There was a 4-way tie for second thru last cash between Fifer/Watts, Sprow/Jones, Hanna/Binienda & Blansett/Frame, all with -15 scores. The cash was split evenly & the remaining $10 was flipped which resulted in Fifer/Watts taking the extra cash.

Shane Brayton hit an ace on Hole 2 from the Red pad & pocketed $255. An excellent way to end the season. Congrats!

We had a smaller turnout for our round this past Wednesday with 21 people coming out to Mary Beth Doyle for a round of Shorts & lots of runs at the ace pool cash! The weather was perfect for a late summer evening with no precipitation & no wind. Top scores on the evening were a pair of -16’s shot by Common/Fifer & Perras/Fortune, who split first & second cash evenly. Third cash went to Sprow/Blansett with a -14 score. Last cash was taken by Armstrong/Esch with a -13.

Top score on the night was -16 from Sprow/Fortune, taking solo first cash. Second & third cash was split between Herron/Chilson & Common/Gacioch, both with -14 scores. Last cash was flipped for between 3 tying teams including Thelen/Quiton, Brayton/Bottorff & Trombley/Tschirhart, all shooting -13. The disc flip decided that Thelen/Quiton would take the cash.

We had some good weather and a good turnout of 32 players for our round at Bandemer, which included the WR-RW layout.

Top scores on the night included as trio of -14 scores by Sprow/Trombley, Weilacher/Crouch, and Hanna/Common. Money was split between teams with a flip determining that Sprow/Trombley would take the extra $10. We also had a tie for the last two payout spots at -13 by the teams of Binienda/Common and DesJardins/Thelen. The team of Binienda/Common earned the extra amount.

AND.......we finally had another ace (only our 3rd of this season). Jay B aced hole 5 (from the white tees if I am not mistaken) and took home $346 of the ace pool, in addition to earning an additional 30 points to his league standing. Congratulations on the ace, that is a tough tee to ace from.

I had hoped for better news, but based on what we are seeing right now, on the future forecast about potential for bigger stuff coming in around 8, and what appears to be developing and heading our way from the west, I am making the decision to call off league this evening.

We will intend to stay at Bandemer for next week's round.

I really don't like to call off league nights, but it is also important to be safe. Hope you all are doing alright.

The threat of heavy storms & potential for rain the entire round made for a smaller turnout this past Wednesday. We had 15 players come out to brave the conditions, which actually turned out to be relatively light rain during pretty much the entire round. We played the Winter Loop layout (1, 2, Alt 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18) to keep things closer the parking lot & make the round quicker. This lead to a hot score of -17 from Brayton/Thelen, taking solo first cash! Awesome shooting! There was a tie for second & last cash between Common/Herron & Sprow/Chilson, both with -16 scores. A disc flip decided that Common/Herron would walk with the majority of the payout.

Out new trucker style hat will be available for purchase starting this evening at league - $25. The hats come in like a dozen color combinations, so there is for sure at least one that you will like (I am guessing here, I would like to think we did a good job with color choices). The hat has a sewn on embroidered patch that features our Moon & Stars graphic in great detail.

Our friends at Grit & Grace will also be present selling their Support Women's Disc Golf Shirts, which supports their Women Strolling Rolling event in July (which is now full by the way, AWESOME job with that!). Those shirts are being sold for $25.

Cooler weather for today's league night, but it will be dry which is ALWAYS welcomed!

We had pretty much the most perfect weather we could ask for during our round last Wednesday at Mary Beth Doyle. 32 players came out to throw a round of Odd Long, Even Short pads. Prime conditions lead to a hot score of -16 shot by Herron/Watts, taking solo first cash. Second cash went to Tschirhart/Snyder with a -14 score. Chilson/Wolodkin took third cash with a -13 score. There was a 7-way tie for fourth & last cash. It was decided between the tying teams that the cash would be donated back to the club. Creating an additional $10 CTP for this coming weeks round (5/17) as well as adding $20 to the ace pool.

Speaking of ace pool, Drew Herron knocked it down by 1/2 after ringing one up on Hole 3! He took home $127 & added 30 points to his standing. Congrats Drew & great shot! Also, thank you for the very kind donation of the lighter weight Discraft Hades for a CTP prize. We appreciate you!

Second, third & fourth (last) cash was split between Fifer/Trombley, Wittman/Binienda & Watts/Common, all with -15 scores. A disc flip decided that Fifer/Trombley would walk with the majority of the cash.

Tommy Wittman snagged himself an ace on Hole 14 & took home $189! He also got 30 bonus league points, bumping him up to being tied for 1st place.

I did not mention it during announcements last evening, but can we all give Richard Thelen and Tommy Whittman a high five. Yesterday I pulled into the parking lot and they had already spent a decent amount of time getting some of the wood chips that have been provided out onto the course. These wood chips have been placed in areas that they are needed and make a difference. You may have noticed the areas around tee pads that no longer collect water are are more level, or around the basket where roots and bare dirt have been exposed. These areas also collect a bit of water/mud during rainy periods.

Your efforts do not go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated. Thank you for continued effort to help make little upgraded improvements to the course.

25 players came out to kick off the 2023 Spring/Summer season at Bandemer. With warm but threatening weather, we picked a WR + RW layout in case the storm happened to hit us. The storm moved around us & these rather ideal conditions lead to a very hot score of -17 from Common/Brayton, taking solo first cash. Great way to start fellas! Second cash went to Selig/Thelen with a -15 score. There was a 3-way tie for third & fourth (last) cash between Anderson/DesJardins, Sprow/O’Leary & Trombley/Wittman. All teams shot a -12 score & decided to split the cash evenly.

We are going to proceed with league for this evening. Heavy stuff is mainly through our area and looks like a chance for a little bit of precipitation later but nothing major.

Bring an umbrella and/or rain jacket to ward off the rain, because if you don't....you KNOW it is going to rain on us!

We are monitoring the weather for this evening and tomorrow's scheduled league night. It looks like we are in for quite the show with the storms that are coming our way.

Safety is important and I want to make sure that we have decent conditions to play our rounds week in and week out.

No formal decision just yet as we want to see how this storm progresses into our area. Update regarding the possibility of having to cancel tomorrow night's round will be made in the early afternoon tomorrow. Will also post this on the club's FB page.
