Great course. Used what little elevation was present and a multitude of water in play. A few really stand out holes: 1,2,12,14. Great risk/reward shots throughout the course and a some great par 4/5 holes that are real golf holes not just deuce or die.
With the addition of concrete tees (spring 2013), hole signs, some schule and thorns being removed this course will move up to an A.
Great design Larry, you are the man.
update: 3/25/14
Course looks great! Lots of benches added, concrete tees from both short/long tees. Lookin great, all the course needs now is some good tee signs

hard to give a fair rating to a new course, not enough trash cans or signage althouth not hard to figure out the flow except in 1 or 2 spots. looking forward to playing it again when it is finished.

A great new course for the area. Pretty flat, and water comes into play on holes 3,7,10,14,16, and 17. Has cement tee pads on all holes. Needs more trash cans. Tee signs are very nice and show the hole pretty well if you have never been. Almost Oshtemo like with longs and shorts. One of the courses used in the 2015 AM Worlds, this course is a must play!

A nice addition to the Kalamazoo lineup. This course brings some water hazards and some nice distance shots from the long tees. Brand new chainstars gleaming throughout the course and fresh concrete teepads for both the long and short tees convey that this course means business.
It will be interesting to see how this course develops as it is beat in by weather and people over the next couple of years.
*Edit*
Well, it's been a couple years and this place has developed amazingly. Great new ...

Fun to play in all seasons. They just added brand new signs and they look great. Course keeps getting better too with all the work they are doing to improve it. Its a must play if you are in the area.

This is a great course with good variety, including some challenging water, woods and wind shots.

Vicksburg has everything a good course should have: open, woods, water, left, right, over trees, death putts, the list goes on. Course is still improving with pads in 2013. Needs more benches and trash cans. PLAY HERE!!! Well worth the trip :) Great job again Larry!

Nice, clean course. Easy to navigate for a first timer whether playing longs or shorts. Signs are excellent, teepads are good size and level. Plenty of challenging placement shots but also some nice grip-it-rip-it shots. Good mix of lefty/righty shots off the tees as well.

This course really does have it all. Tight shots through the woods, big open shots to air out some drives, water shots, a good mix of RHBH and LHBH, a few birdies holes sprinkled in there, etc... This is course will make you throw every shot in your bag, and rewards good placement shots down the fairway. Short and Long tee pads make it fair for people of all skill levels. The teepads are solid and the tee signs are accurate and look great.

With all the cleanup and preparations for worlds this year, this course has turned into a must play. Absolutely amazing

FLAT. Long and short tees on every hole. Longs look real hard! Many signatures holes. #1 long lefty curve OB sidewalk on right , treeline on left, basket in woods to the left, #6 short wooded hole behind a fun mound, #12 long shot with a tight gap @ 200 ft out, & #14 over water and water right behind the basket! All unique and beautiful. The course is easy enough to shoot under par , but if you make mistake you will definitely be punished.

1st time playing there this past weekend. I loved the course and all the hard work they're doing out there. Really like the different looks you get when playing longs or shorts. Traveled almost 2 hours to get there, and will definitely make the trip again. Awesome work!!!

First time ever playing this course and absolutely loved it aside from the mud which was expected as the had been a bunch of ice/snow that recently melted due to the nice mid 40 degree day. I really thought this course had some of the best signage I've ever seen although a couple times we forgot to look on the pad where the next tee was going to be and got slightly lost but by hole 8 we were checking every hole and it was great. Really like the mix shot selections there were some long challengin ...

Very impressed. Course was in excellent condition. Nice signs, tee pads, paths between holes ... one of the nicest courses I've played. Some great TLC lately is showing!

Great mix of length and technical accuracy - beautiful setting. Volunteers make this course what it is - enjoyable, fun, easy to play, and cleared out so that solid throws are always easy to find. Also, I've dumped a few in the pond - and the folks that come to rake and dive for discs always call when they find mine - THANK YOU - and, a great reflection on the quality of player and people at the course. My favorite local course.

Very long holes. Lots of water hazards this time of year, may dry up later on in season. Overall good course quite a bit of fun

This is a really fun course! Water in play on alot of the holes and good diversity really add to the fun. Not a bad beginner course from the shorts, aside from the 3 big ones, and the pros will have to use their arms from the longs quite a bit. This course is also wonderfully maintained with new benches, woodchips, and trashcans going in almost every week! If you are playing the Kalamazoo area, this is a must play!

I really enjoyed this course. Several different types of shots. Virtually no elevation, which is fine, but plenty of water hazards involved which challenge all of your shots on the applicable holes.

It's a great course lots of technical shots and a couple ace runs. It's a must play course! They take really good care of the course.

Awesome course. Easy to navigate. Even on busy days it plays fast with almost no backups. Very clean

Long course tough 2 right off the bat that gets in your head a bit. Water hazards but just an amazing course layout and nice to look at

Lines to hit every hole, actual FAIRways, mix of wooded and open holes where as other courses in the area seem heavily slanted to a singular type of player.

A really nice course that features a few water holes. It is well kept and a very enjoyable course for recreational and professional players.

Nice basket placements, some teepads are on other holes fairways. Fun course tho

This course is so beautiful...several water hazard holes, some challenging OBs. Chainstars are top-notch baskets. Nice cement pads with long and short tees. The isthmus hole between two water hazards is the signature hole. This course is well laid-out, well marked, and offers a wonderful variety of shots that will test every part of your game. There's also a terrific pub right in town that offers huge portions of great food at low prices that we love stopping at when we drive out to Vicksbu ...

Impressive layout on on this mostly wooded course. Water is lurking on several holes, including #3,7,10,14,15 and 17, with some baskets in front of the water. Other holes have wet, marshy rough. Control is necessary with tight shots and trees on several holes. Used most discs in the bag with a variety of shots. Well maintained and clean. Huge parking lot and restrooms.

Amazing course with technical fairways whether they are wooded or wide open shots

Loved this course. Great mix of everything. Short and long teepads make for any type of round you want. Watch out for the water.

VIRA is a great course for the more intermediate players. For a beginner this course is a little long and provides some really challenging shots. BUt in terms of the course design it is top notch in my book. Some technical wooded holes, and some with more open shots as well. I am very lucky to have this course so close to home.

Love this course. It's about an hour drive for me but always worth it when we get there. The course is clean and very well maintained. Short and long tees so you can play 36 different holes if you have the time and stamina. 92 out of 100.

What makes this course perfect for me is not just the great landscape, variety of holes and of course the very beautiful signage, but more importantly the people I have met there and especially those involved in the maintenance and activities there. It has been a great honor to meet some very nice and helpful players there. Awesome place in a very nice community. Thank you all for your work and friendliness.

Great course mix of woods and open fairways always mowed and maintained.
+0 votes joe vandermey › July 24, 2020
Great all around course. Hole number one (already very long hole) has a boundary designated for the sidewalk, so it is easy to rack up a round killing total of strokes on penalties. That comes into play mostly from the shorts, and for the left handed throwers on the long tees.

Great course for all skill levels that requires control and power. There is a mix of everything with woods and water here. The course is well maintained and not too busy most of the time.

Really impressed with this course. Didn't expect much from the start seemed really easy going but was please nylon surprised by the risk reward shots that pop up later in the course. This is a very cerebral course. Placement is key on many of the holes, to give a look at 2 or simply take your 3. decent trouble if you get off the fairways, water before or behind baskets make you thin. I really enjoyed playing it, even if it was in a foot of Snow. I look forward to playing this during Worlds

Nice course. Love the layout. There are a lot hidden branches no matter what line u take.

Awesome course great mix of different shots, long and short pads. Fairly new so the rough is rough but it will definitely smooth in with time. Nice location ten minutes south of 94.

The course layout is great, they just need to continue with the improvements, message board better markers and grooming the grounds so that they will be restored to a more natural feel, concrete pads were a great improvement.
-1 votes Ben Gosset › May 4, 2013
One of my personal favorites now that all the pads are in its one the best coursed in the kzoo area, lots of technical shots that require power ,longs are very challenging requiring even more power and accuracy great design nice work Larry.

Interesting little course. While it is not particularly long course, it has several narrow holes that you need to hit to have a chance at birdie. Players that have a lot of control and consistency that can keep a steady line have an advantage at this course even if you cannot crush it 400+ feet.
