I had heard rumors that there was a 9 hole course in Albany and after search and asking around I managed to drive over the bridge and scout out the park. Then to my amazment, there it was... a carpet tee pad. Even a small temp sign in the weeds telling me that it was hole one. Onward through the jungle I went, sending my disc ahead of me knowing it might be the last time I ever see it. I tried to lay up and stay to the fairways but even then it took time to recover each throw. Miraculously I found basket and sometimes even tee pads. I only got lost a couple times in between holes. The beauty of the course being along the river and set in the big trees kept me going. Forging my way along overgrown paths made me feel like a trailblazer. Avoiding mosquitos, poison oak, and even a bald faced hornets nest the size of a volleyball that my disc came within inches of, I made it out alive. I look back on my adventure here with mixed feelings. I like this course for its beauty and use of the park. But I am also saddened that it seems that this course with all its potential, just seems like no one cares.
