Sullivan East High School DGC in Bluff City, TN is a 9 hole course with a short tee and long tee for each hole. I love courses like this because you can almost design your own layout as you go. You could loop the shorts twice to have 18 holes of shorts, or you could loop the long tees twice so you could have 18 holes of longs. Furthermore, you could also flip a coin (or disc) on each hole and switch it up per hole, essentially making a different layout each time you play the course. As for the c ...

As for the course itself, this course is mostly shorter with a couple longer holes that let am players really open up. My favorite part about this course is the fact that when I first pulled up to the school parking lot and saw the property, I instantly thought that there was no way there was a full 9 hole course on this property. But there is! I think that speaks to the design of this course as the property makes it look like a disc golf course would be impossible to put here, but they managed to pull it off! As I said before, most of the holes are on the shorter side but that doesn't mean they are not tricky, There is tons of elevation changes, some tight tunnel shots, and plenty of OB's in play which gives this short course some teeth. Trust me, I shot terribly on this course even though I know that the birdie potential is there for me on nearly every hole. Both layouts on this course are very fun and there are some really tricky pin positions. Hole 6 instantly pops into my mind where you have to hit a tunnel shot between two fenced off tennis courts and the basket is placed on the corner of a ridge with a drop-off right AND long of the basket. My personal favorite hole on the course! Another hole that REALLY stands out to me is hole 9. On this hole you are teeing downhill and across concrete with the basket placed on a small island green. Just a super fun hole that you will throw several on once you miss the island. Personal experience talking again there. All in all, this isn't the "test your might" type of course that you are going to be telling everyone they must go play, but if you are in the area and enjoy fun short layouts, this is one you don't want to miss. My one complaint about the course would be the baskets. The baskets are mostly (if not all) portable practice baskets that were set in place with concrete. This is definitely a small gripe as they are placed permanently and serve the purpose they are meant for, I just felt it was worth mentioning in my review. Just expect the potential for chain-outs on these as they are not the tournament style permanent baskets. Did I like the course? Yes! Will I go play this course again? Absolutely! The next time I am in the area and have some free time, I will absolutely play this one again and try and take my score down quite a bit!
